Hi I'm new here, and I just decided today that I was going to have a raw/living food lifestyle.

I see a lot of recipes on here but I'm wondering what are the best ones as far a flavor. I love food with flavor (especially Vegan Thai food) and I'm wondering how I can keep my love of taste while going raw.

Please please tell me there is a better snack to eat besides dates and nuts.

I haven't eaten meat in over ten years (since I was about 14 years old.) but I definitely pig out on Veggie Snacks. Popcorn happens to be my favorite and I have no idea how I'm going to cut that out. I actually believe I need it to live.

I read somewhere recently that corn is crossbred with pig (gross) and that strawberries are crossed with fish. That's so disgusting, so I'm going to keep it strictly organic from now on.

However, this lifestlye is going to be rough until I can get acclumated to the change.

Can anyone recommend the best snacks that don't include raisins, dates, or dried fruits. I can't stand that stuff.

Eating nuts gets pretty boring...so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Especially, recipes that pack flavor. I don't like sweets too much either.

Thanks in advance.:)

I can't really help out with specifics as I love dried fruit and nuts, but I wanted to bump this up for you so others can respond.
Also, try searching (using the banana icon at the top of the page) using the ingredients you like, that might give you some ideas. Or, have a look at the photos only thread in the recipe section to get inspired for ideas. That alsways helps me if I am in a slump.
If you like Thai food, maybe using lots of young coconuts for flavorings, make noodles out of ect. Sorry am not much help. :) Blessings, wendy

If you have a dehydrator you could keep a stash of crackers on hand. Otherwise my favourite simple snack is chopped up veggies like celerey, cucumber, carrot etc with a dip like hummus or avocado, spinach and lemon. I'm having trouble thinking of savoury things I have a sweet tooth! :p

Hi 4forme and alicia_2007,

Thanks for your advice. I didn't realize I could eat crackers and it would still be raw. I have to go out and get a dehydrator. Thanks for the tips on searching the site for recipes. That's cool that it will show thumbnails of the different recipes.

The whole concept is still pretty new to me. I hope to get to the point where I actually enjoy eating nuts and berries for a snack. I know when I stopped eating meat it was hard at first, but now I could never let that be part of my reality.

I'm learning so much and a Raw Food lifestyle seems to be just right for me, because I was getting fed up with "processed" Vegan food.

Thanks for the tips. I had raw cheesecake recently and it was terrific.

First and foremost, if you can, get Alissa's book. You have no idea what you're missing out on! Haha. Originally I though there is such an abundance of recipes, why get the book? I got it, due to all the recommendations here. It would be a shame to live without it.

In case you haven't visited them yet. They're really great sites for recipes (but could not possibly compete with Alissa's ):

I wish you the best of luck, you're gonna have a blast!
