Hello...
I am age 61. I have diabetes and dis-ease in several other ways.
I've been a wannabe vegetarian for decades, yet never made it
because I wasn't fond of many vegetables!
Now, since I've learned of people ridding themselves of diabetes
by being on a raw foods diet, I'm convinced I can do the same.
It makes sense to me that my body (pancreas) can heal itself.
I want to give it every opportunity to do so.

Good luck and welcome. Do you have any books/DVD's to assist you? This forum can help a lot too. I am interested to see how the diabetes is helped. I know of a few people I'd like to teach about raw in the same circumstances. When I first "went raw" I got overwhelmed and consumed with the whole process so my advice is to just relax into it! Green smoothies (which is just fruit and greens of choice blended) are a great start and help with cravings....but so is just plain fresh whole fruit! Good luck!

I meant to also add my parents are both 70 and set in their ways. I'd like to have them include more raw,,,,but they are not interested...Should I just give up? Maybe you can help me too:D

I too would encourage to get both Alissa's book and DVD, it truely is a goldmine. You'll learn all the in's and out's of raw food and really know how to start and keep it going. There's recipes and lots of stories of people who have had illnesses that have been helped by going raw. It also answers every question any could ever ask you. It's worth the money and the time to read. Good Luck....Judith:)

Hello and welcome! You will do great I tell you - I had an au pair about your age and she was diagnosed with diabetes (high counts, her vision started to rapidly go and so on). She switched to raw veggies and is able to keep her sugar around 100 on a constant basis without insulin!

Makes so-o-o mich difference. Her nephew, who is about 30 years her junior is doing much worse, insulin dependent and constantly has high counts.

Well, it's not much of a surprise - he would NOT give up smoking, insists that some alcohols do not have sugar , eats anything and everything.

Wishing you all the luck and support with raw food diet! I am convinced you will see progress.
