I've been juicing for the last couple of days and would love to talk to other juicers. Would like to know if you are experiencing any detox symptoms and how you are doing? Today is day five. My head tells me to go for thirty days to really do a thorough body cleansing, but I don't know if I am capable of it. I am pretty healthy. No time like the present to burn off any aged, damaged, diseased, weakened cells and tissues, fat deposits, etc and repair them with healthy ones as preventative medicine! No real health crisis over here. Just a coated tongue. Research says the fast will give you signs once the tongue turns back to pink, mine is still coated. No real bad breath. A little gas. Evacuating a bit difficult, but still moving, multi-colored. Losing weight easily. Get a little hungry sometimes and if I can't take it for more than a day I will eat an avocado, I don't like to starve myself and I really want this process to continue. Resting, cleaning, and feeling energetic, surprisingly.

Sounds like you are doing great!
I have been eating heavily lately and not feeling quite so great, so I am going to try to incorporate more juices and green smoothies.
I can't make more than 1 cup of juice at a time right now as I only have a manual juicer. Still, I am enjoying my grape and clementine juice and trying to enjoy my wheatgrass juice.
I, too, don't like starving myself, and since I have just come back to raw I don't want to get too hungry and eat something cooked.
I just wish my juicer wasn't so annoying to clean!

I have missed about a week out of 3 mos. faithful, picked up again 2 days ago. Struggling with the cold, low energy, pain and fatigue of my stuctural and auto-immune issues. Don't want to lose weight, but really struggling to nourish myself raw, but don't even want cooked, and that isn't best for what I'm dealing with. I have to force myself to eat at all, because I have to. Juicing is better, but then that doesn't keep me eliminating toxins I'm releasing, and i've never gotten the enema/colonic thing worked out. JJJJJust ccccan't get warm.

If you can rawstrength buy a juicer quick. It should have been one of the first things I had done back in August. I've got my really expensive one in storage so decided to buy Jack La Lanne's. It works like a charm and does the trick quick. It helped me to get back on track as well after the holidays. You are doing fantastic Lavendula. Three weeks is a huge feat. I am only on day six now I guess. Have you juiced, fasted or been raw before or for a while? I'm not having too many healing crisis experiences yet...I'm afraid to say. Little things are happening to me, but nothing major.

Lavendula -
This is a part-juice part-smoothie concoction I borrowed from a local juice bar and modified a bit - I made it for my friend who was staying with us when she felt under the weather and couldn't get warm-
4-6 soaked dates
1/2 inch ginger
4 medium red apples
1 peeled lemon
1/2 ripe peeled banana
Juice the ginger, apple and lemon. Put juice in blender with banana and dates. I will put this in a bowl over very warm water (like a double boiler) to warm it up (finger warm). For my friend, I heated it on the stove (they are not raw) as the original recipe calls for it to be served hot.
I love this warm beverage - very soothing and warming. I usually add less dates and more ginger (extra spicy)

I have been juicing too. I made it 2 full days, but then decided to juice all day and then have a salad for dinner because I was getting hungry and stealing some of the kids cooked food. I DONT want that to happen! Maybe before summer I will try to do like a week or something so I feel nice and thin!

Thankx you guys for checking in. I'm still juicing. Really don't know how I'm doing this. Getting stronger and stronger every day emotionally in order for me to continue. I just keep telling myself that I am burning and releasing all the cells and tissues which are aged, damaged, diseased, weakened or dead. That I am releasing fat deposits, any unforseen growths or tissue tumors, all of it. Releasing all the extra waste in my colon, parasites. Doing this responsibly. Also, added psyllium husk first thing in the morning and am researching 'bentonite clay'. This is just so exciting. Discovering all of these wonderful juice concotions and they are really filling. Trust me I am not perfect and have had thoughts of certain foods which are not good for me, but I keep reinforcing the fact that I am doing this now for cleansing/healing/preventative purposes (although I am already very healthy), but if one has never fully cleansed it is time to do it now. My tongue is still coated which means my body is still cleansing. The most responsible part about this whole juice fast experience is that once I phase it out I will be returning to eating raw as I've learned within the last several months. Have never done that before. I am very grateful to have a place to turn to here.

Wow dalimeindacoconut! How long has it been?
I just recently got into juicing - did one day to try out, felt so good that next week did a three day. Felt even better.
Tomorrow I am doing one day again and am planning to make it a weekly thing (one day a week). Not sure if I will do a long juice fast (as Lavendula I am an auto-immuner). Although I am not saying "never" ;)
I also do psyllium for proper elimination. Can not go stagnant on that.

Honestly when I first started I thought it was going to be a three day fast, then a five day, now I'm thinking 30. I've never done a complete and total cleanse like this so I figure there is no better time than now if I can do it. So far the major challenge has been the amount of food one goes through in order to juice. Sometimes I am hungry, but for the most part not as I will immediately juice something. Tonite I made a delicious juice:
-4 tomatoes juiced
-Dash of salt, pepper, 1/2 tsp. of cumin, 1/2 tsp. of chili powder, 1/2 tsp. of paprika
Today I'm researching: Bentonite Clay. Scientists have studied indigenous tribes who always carry a little ball of it with them in their sachel to put in water and dip their food in. What it does is attract all toxins and damaged anything in your system, the psyllium husk binds with it and then kicks it out. Want to buy this. Does anyone know anything about it?
The first four days I was doing Green Smoothies, etc. which were really just preparing me for the first authentic day of juicing. The weight is flying off I do have to say (I really only have 20 stubborn pounds that will not come off no matter what), but this is working for me finally. More importantly I'm giving my interiors a thorough scrubbing and infusing nutritious vitamins, minerals, enzymes and everything else good for the system. I don't know why I'm so excited about this, but I am. It feels right for now. I'm shooting for 30 days.
What made you turn to juicing?

Impressive!
What made you turn to juicing? On a grand scale - the quest of reversing my Multiple Sclerosis. My research led me to the close connection with digestive issues, toxins and old stagnant viruses (like herpes simplex, aka "cold sores")
It is a part of my big (probably life long) body maintenance routine, that includes raw diet, yoga, meditation, massage, detoxing (using oil pulling and kombucha for it, after removing my last wisdom tooth with amalgam fillings will look into chelation), EFT and vitamin / herb / food therapy

I was also surprised at how much produce I was going through with juicing. I seriously can't afford to do it right now. My hubby is going raw right now so we are going through so much food! Plus the boys are always eating! Is is costing you alot to juice? Or is it just me?!

Yep, it does, but mostly for fruits. If I were to stay with vaggies, would be MUCH cheaper. Let's see, for today I juiced:
1 Pineapple - $3.99
4 pears - $2.99
4 kiwis - $1.99
3 big carrots - $0.49
2 beets - $0.56
3 cucumbers - $0.99
1 daikon - $0.99
1/2 of a cabbage - $0.59
So for the day worth of "food" (just for myself) it's $12.59
IF it were just veggies it would be $3.03 x 2 (twice as much) = $6.06. Not too bad.
About 1 McDonnalds meal worth but MUCH healthier :)
What gets me the most is amount of time it takes to prepare everything - the peeling, the chopping, the juicing, the cleaning. Rinse and repeat (once for veggies, once for fruits)

I was doing grapefruit/orange everyday and the grapefruits are expensive. I was also going through large amounts of greens. Like 2-3 bunches of different greens. Like for a few small jars worth of juice I was using a whole head of bok choy or one whole head of kale. Not that expensive, but it's hard for me to get to the store to replenish!
Maybe my juicer is not extracting as much juice. I have a champion.

Hey you two, it's ridiculous the amount of food I am going through to juice, but I know it's worth it. Today I didn't have time or money so made a run to the 99cent store (they've got a nice selection of perfectly pesticide produce) of all places, but hey, at least I'm still juicing. I have to start buying in bulk, but have to wait right now due to finances until the fat cash comes in!
My expensive juicer is in storage so I made a quick run to Bed/Bath/Beyond and bought Jack La Lanne's power juicer. It's fabulous. It juices 30% more juice and is a piece of raw cake to clean. I am a little surprised at how much work you go through to juice because I don't if I did I wouldn't do it probably. I just wash if it's non-organic, organic I don't wash, pop whatever in the chute, if it's too big chop in half and voila it's squished to gold! It's really easy to clean too.
Just wish I had some trees here so I could pick my own stuff. Trees? what a concept I live in cement city! There is not even any grass for me to potentially juice HA HA~!
Started having one raw meal a day, but feel like I want to mostly raw juice for now.
Happy to see you both here!

I was wondering how that Jack La Lanne juicer works. I saw it for 99 dollars the other day. Is it better than Champion? My champion doesn't seem to make much juice.

I don't have any experience with the champion all I know is I bought my $400 juicer 10 years ago (which is in storage) and I bought the Jack La Lanne's Power Juicer to get me by and it has Super Powers! It gives 30% more juice!

:) I have a Jack LaLanne and I love it!! I know there's some people who feel that centrifugals aren't as good as masticaters, but it was what I could afford and it was either that juice or no juice, so I'm thrilled with it. It does a great job, as far as I'm concerned!!! Glad you like it too!!! Enjoy it!!! (And use it alot!!!):)

Confession: I don't clean my juicer until the end of the day. That way I don't make it harder for myself. Everything has to be as easy as possible. Maybe that is why it doesn't take me alot of time. It is also relatively easy to clean. If I juice too much I just clean out the top and wait till the end of the day to clean out the rest.
Healing: I think the juicing is healing an issue I've been having with slight incontinence. I am not peeing as much which is surprising me. Maybe I had a bladder infection without knowing what it was really. I don't know. I just realized this the other day.
Not so much fasting anymore, but feel as though I want to go on a juice fast on and off in between raw food.
When I move I will be purchasing a commercial grade juicer. For now I've got my trusty little Jack La Lanne, now if I would just pick up those weights...which I am going to do right now because I wrote this.
Btw, doing psyllium husk while juicing. It really cleans you out after a while.

I am interested in doing a juice fast too, but a little intimidated....maybe just "juice till dinner" and then have a fruit/veggie meal...Feel like I need to"clean house"...Also, I am going to be helping out some other people get started with juicing so thought if I led by example it will help us all! Anyway, just a couple FRUGAL tips about juicing....I save a lot of my pulp and reuse it in "breads" etc....For example (and I too have a Jack lalane) I will juce my non reuseable fruit parts first (apple cores, any peeld ie lime/lemon, sometimes celery cuz the pulp is stringy)....Then I juice the good stuff-carrots, apples, etc....I save the "pulp" and add whatever....If I want a sweet cracker I may add some coconut, agave, pureed bananas, cacoa nibs,,,,,whatever I feel like + a little flax meal...and some water if necessary...Then I mix it (by hand-squishy) and spread it out on teflex sheets and dehydrate.....After a few hours I flip it onto the mesh screens and continue to dehydrate it....I let it go for 24 hours for a bread or cracker or eat it later in the day as a veggie burger type thing...oh yeah, if I want it more like a "salty" bread or cracker I add those types of ingredients.....Bragg's aminoes, onions, chopped veggies, flax meal, etc... I usually eat some and freeze the rest.....just my way of re-using my own compost!!!!!! If you are strictly juicing you can make it and freeze it all....Just remember that dehydrated "breads" or crackers expand!!!! I tend to eat too much of it which is why I portion and freeze it!!!!! But pigging out on dehydrated raw breads beats pizza or other SAD foods any day and allows me to feel like I am not "missing out" on my old favorite foods....
I like carrot-apple-ginger juice and think I'll have some RIGHT NOW!
Oh yeah, if you don't have time or enough pulp each time you juice you can save it up for a few days in ziploc baggies and then make it....and of course a dehydrator is needed....

Those are fabulous ideas nfrancer. I will use them one day soon. Almost lost it about an hour ago. I juiced way too much garlic, onion, tomatoes, bell peppers and literally almost lost it. My stomach couldn't handle it. That was a first. Love your ideas! Juicing is a large part of my raw food adventure now. Juice fasted for about seven days and do believe I will continue once or twice a week as it just makes me feel good!

right now, so I have only juiced a few times in the last week or so. Hubby brought me fresh wheat grass home from Karyn's in the city. He'sa 5 STAR hubby, he goes over an hour out of his way, and even goes to whole foods for me. So I am starting back tomorrow,at least with the wheatgrass, that takes very little energy. I have to tweak my diet a bit, or I will starve, cuz I'm just not eating enough. I am trying to work on implementing some TCM principles in my raw diet, the two don't really go together. At least for me, with what I am trying to overcome, for where I live and for having gone so far into raw, without knowing how to transition into winter. I have added some roasted roots with curry and coconut oil, i just have too much at stake with my autoimmune issue right now.
