Does anyone have a non-dehydrated raw pizza crust recipe?
I really want to make a delicious, raw vegan pizza that will impress my pizza-loving vegetarian boyfriend.
The problem is that I don't have a dehydrator. I could make a pizza crust that requires minimum dehydrating (less than 2 hours) and dehydrate it in my convection oven with the temp. on 175 degrees F. I would prefer a recipe that requires no dehydration. Dehydrating in the sun is not an option as it is 25 degrees outside right now! I freeze things by putting them on my front porch when I run out of room in the freezer.
Anyway, I was thinking of making a raw marinara sauce. I would use a sunflower cheeze spread for the cheese and then sprinkle it with some raw parmesan cheese made with brazil nuts and nutritional yeast. My main problem right now is making the crust. I could use a flaxseed pecan crust like I do for savory pies, but that wouldn't be bread-y like a real pizza crust.
I'll take any other suggestions for cheese, too!

You could use a Portabello Mushroom cap.

Or like you mentioned flax with pizza seasonings.

Eggplant is also kind of bready but may not be too chewy??

Oh yes, portobella pizzas are delicious.

Portobella (marinated for a bit or brushed with olive oil in a slightly warmed oven)
nut cheese
marinara
toppings...peppers, onions, raw black olives, spinach, etc...

Yummers!!

Thanks for your replies, everyone. Dbf doesn't like mushrooms, so a portabella base is out. I'll have to keep experimenting.
We'll see what I come up with.

You could just try a slice of some fairly neutral tasting veg...jicama maybe? Or maybe try blending sundried tomatoes and/or olives with nuts? As if you were making brownies but a savoury version?

I don't know but I've been searching for one, too. I had a fabolous one a few years bag at Earth Faire on Vashon Island. They had a raw food booth. The base was definitely a cashew base. It was pretty nutty and soft and was covered with more of a salad. You did have to use a fork. It was so darn tasty. I've made dehydrated pizza's but they weren't as good.

Go to goneraw.com if you haven't already and do a search on pizza. Perhaps they will have one you can modify. They have an English muffin recipe that perhaps you could use in your oven with the door open. I've seen others suggest that in different forums. Hope it works for you.
