I am new to this, but I think I have read up enough and lurked around here and stuff that I feel confident in how to go about switching over my eating habits. BUT, I am a bit scared of failing. It goes a bit deeper than just failing at eating raw, but more of how this kind of represents my goals and my aspirations for better health and a life more committed to happiness, etcetera. I have been trapped in a rut for a long time that goes deeper than food and I want to live my life and be happier and find joy and satisfaction and pride in even the little things I do.

my aspirations for better healthThats a great place to start. Now if you will do a small amount of research on what cooking does to the foods and relate that to your statement about your aspirations for better health you should be on your way to a successful raw food lifestyle journey. Good luck.

it looks like you have been trying to inch into the water slowly
and it hasn't worked real easy....
maybe just dive in
see for yourself the remarkably good results you can only dream of
now, standing there in the ankle hi water.
come on in the water's fine :)

Get Alissa's book and DVD.....after you read it you'll really know what your committing too. I can't see how you can do it without it.

P.S. Get Alissa's book and DVD....they are inspirational and will give you strength and encouragement....which will be right at your finger tips when you need that little bit of extra encouragement. DON'T be afraid to try girl...someone once said that they hadn't failed 100 times but had found 100 ways that didn't work. You really have never failed if you pick yourself up and try again. Make realistic goals.....I know that I started by saying I would be 100% for so many days and then when I'd do something wrong I'd feel like I blew it, so instead I decided that I would just set a goal for so many 100% raw days and every day that I made it, I'd fill in a circle and if I messed up one day then I knew that I'd be filling in the next circle the next day. Then pretty soon it becomes a way of life for you and you don't really need the goals anymore because it is who you are. Good Luck....put fear behind you....to me it's more scary to have not tried. Just go for it! Commit to just 30 days. It feels like a doable period of time, but it will make such a difference. It doesn't have to be complicated. Here are a few ideas from my experience: It's nice to start the day with fruits. Then a big salad with avocado and lots of vegies, and maybe sprouts, all sprinkled with olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Later you can have a prepared food. At first I ate lots of salsas, guacamole, and dips made out of sunflower seeds, with celery, lettuce leaves, cucumbers, peppers, to dip in them. Another thing is to take food with you whenever you leave the house. I usually have some dates, almonds, bananas, carrot sticks, and/or celery sticks with me. Smoothies can really help you feel satisfied. At first I used just fruits, like bananas with frozen blueberries, now I drink green smoothies. Make it simple at first and then you will learn all there is to know once you get started. Alissa's book is full of info and inspiration, and there is so much support and recipes on this board. Best wishes to you!!!!!

I want to live my life and be happier and find joy and satisfaction and pride in even the little things I do.

that sounds pretty good to me. that's the authentic you, baby. OWN THAT. "I am now living my life and I find joy and satisfaction and pride in even the little things that i do!" now write it on your bathroom mirror in red lipstick and on the inside of the left lens of your sunglasses and repeat it to yourself over and over again until the real you answers the call.

you're going to be just fine. i can tell. see you around the boards, fellow rawfoodie. :)
