Hello, everyone! This is MouseBandit, in So. Oregon. I, too, heard about raw food through Above Rubies magazine, and I've focused on it off and on over the last few years. I kind of put it all on a shelf after 3 back-to-back miscarriages in 2006, and then moving about 4 times in 18 months, but life has slowed down again, and I'm back! I'm also 4 months pregnant (and everything's looking good!).
I don't think I'll be shooting for 100% raw right now, but I do want to start including green smoothies in my diet every day, and make raw foods my predominate food choices!
I also want to start trying some recipes, as I've got a decent blender now, and an awesome dehydrator! Hopefully a vita mix will come soon, LOL!
Thanks for keeping up such an awesome board!!

Thank you guys! Yes, I am SO excited to be having a raw (mostly) baby!! I've been dragging my feet on changing my lifestyle because I'm a student midwife, and have been totally convinced of the need for high, high, high protein during pregnancy to prevent (among other things) pre-eclampsia. But there's no getting around the fact that raw-fooders have super-duper-healthy babies, and they CERTAINLY don't get pre-E. So, in addition to making these changes to my own diet and lifestyle, I'm on the lookout for any research or studies that consider HOW and WHY raw fooders are doing so well on such a radically different plan. My guess is that it's about food absorbtion and efficiency of utilization - so much less work involved in using the living amino acids we're getting from raw proteins vs. the incredible work of raising the dead with the typical SAD proteins. But I need evidence-based research and studies to prove something like that, LOL!
So, anyways - thanks for the warm welcomes, and go right ahead and live vicariously through me. I've been doing it to all of you (and all the raw fooders I've ever read about) for a couple of years now, LOL!

Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy and to be past that three month mark, which seems to be the critical time to get past for miscarriages. Good Luck....Judith:)
