I had some blood tests taken as I am convinced I have a problem, as have all the symptons, and have all my life. The doctor says that the thyroid is 'normal' and that was that, but I am not convinced as I KNOW there is something.

As there are particular foods one must avoid when having a thyroid problem, I was wondering if I was maybe borderline.........

The results where:
S-TSH - 0,20-4,0 My result = 0,26
S-FT4 (Free T4) 9,0 - 22,0 My result = 19,4

Anyone any idea. I am not expecting a medical diagnosis, but just wondering if anyone knows anything about these results.......?????. I eat huge amounts of spinach and kale and pears, but apparently you are supposed to avoid these....

Those tests are the typical tests a reg MD will do and really do not tell much about your thyroid function. The Free T3 is extremely important because that's the usable form of the thyroid hormone. My TSH is similar to yours, but my T4 is much lower, with the T3 low as well.
What symptoms are you experiencing that make you feel you have a problem?
There is an excellent website for thyroid information called stopthethyroidmadness.com (???hopefully i am allowed to post this, sorry if not!)
They can help you interpret your results, although I think you need better testing first. Also it has alot of information to get you started.
There is a wonderful woman here, veganforlife, who healed her hypothyroid through eating only raw foods, be sure to check out her testimony!
Staying raw allows your body to spend less time on digesting heavy foods so it can focus on healing, as well as getting the most nutrients from the foods without being harmed in processing. This is the best way to heal your body!

You might want to try Maca to help regulate your hormones.

Your numbers are in range. How is your temp.? If it is chronically low, then you may need further testing on your thyroid.

Thank you very much for these responses.

The symptons are tiredness, dry hair and skin, headaches, foggy mind, anxious, very pale skin (but have had all life, and have always had need to watch iron),,,,,,,,,

They could also be symptoms of just being in bad condition. I have only just started with juicing raw foods,,,,,,but the tiredness, inability to concentrate, fogginess of mind, and pale (sallow) skin has been with me all my life,

I have asked doctor 3 times now, and she just says my results are ok and that my thyroid is totally ok. Have been tested for all sorts of other things too, such as glucose, B12, iron, ALL sorts of stuff, but she cannot find anything.

Very frustrating. Maybe it is the years of eating SAD....it is just as I have been plagued since childhood I am not so sure......

any chance of finding a holistic health doctor, or at the least getting a second opinion. sounds to me like you need a better reading of your thryoid and a full scale set of nutritional testings done. alot of doctors don't have the freedom to order lots of tests.

i had great luck by seeking advice from a different doctor - please read "my story" on my raw teacher link

don't lose hope!!!! it's worth the fight. alicia

I hear ya Nordicone.

Have you ever had Mono?

Because I've had the same, exact symptoms you have, ever since I caught Mononucleosis. That was in 1987. It took years to convince people close to me that it wasn't my imagination. Some still don't believe me.

I haven't been to a Dr. in years because I also never got answers. It was a waste of time and money. The only answers I got were "Maybe you're just one of those tired people." Yeah. Sure. Thanks Doc.

Anyway, email me because over the years I've learned quite a lot *through trial and error* on how to at least function. And I've cleared up many of the symptoms you've mentioned.

It's not very difficult if you stay on top of it!

And remember, it's day by day!

Your situation sounds just about identical to mine, and it turned out that I had candida. It's kind of a controversial topic because there hasn't really been extensive research on candida, except in people with autoimmune disorders, so doctors won't diagnose anyone with it, but it seems like more and more people today are suffering from it. I had just about every blood test done too and everything came back fine. It wasn't until I went raw that everything cleared up, so if you just went raw, I would say give it a little time and see what happens. And also, I recommend going 100% raw if you're not! Your symptoms may get somewhat worse in the beginning due to detox and your system clearing out, but afterwards, I know that I felt better than I had in years! With all that being said, your situation may be something entirely different, but it just sounds way too familiar....

After reading a few of the things you are experiencing and seeing what your tsh is (even if it's useless for thyroid treatment, it's useful for other things), I am wondering about your adrenals! Have your looked into Adrenal Fatigue before? Do a google seach on it, there's alot of info out now, and it's not generally recognized by the medical community, so MD's don't really look into it. The whole Endocrine System works closely together and when one thing is off balance, the others have to compensate, causing something to work harder and then become insufficient in time as well.
I have found so many answers in this last yr about my throid, adrenals and hormones. I actually have my life back, after 15 yrs of living in a fog, full of pain, similar to what you describe.
As someone else mentioned, a Holistic Health Dr or one in Integrative Medicine will be much more helpful. There are also labs that you can order tests on your own if you cannot get a Dr to order them for you. That way you can at least get answers.
Hope this is helpful and not overwhelming! There is hope, really.
Blessings, wendy

Thanks so much for the info, have something to go off now.........

I am sickof that too Freakonate - of being told 'you are just a person who gets tried easily, who needs a lot of sleep.......'

I remember as a teenager being so tired I fell asleep at my desk all the time in school, but that was put down to 'Growing pains'!!!!!!!!

My father has concluded I just have a poor constitution.....

I will continue with my juicing etc....and see what happens, but I am def going to ask for tests on these other things that have been mentioned.

Cheers peeps!
