View Full Version : Odd queasy feeling in my stomach after eating raw...

...may be starting to make sense to me.

A few times, pretty much every time I make a raw MEAL, i.e. an entire meal as opposed to just fruit or a plain salad, I get to a point where I feel quite disgusted and queasy by the food. Normally I keep eating because I feel like I have to eat; that it is something that is normal when starting out eating high raw.
There have been a few things in particular with which this has occurred to an extreme. 2 days ago I made a raw quinoa porridge which was actually very good but after I finished it I felt sick to the stomach, and then the whole day just the thought of putting more quinoa on to sprout made me want to wretch. As I said, this has happened with other things I've made, raw cakes and such.

Now, I"m beginning to think that the reason that this happens is not because my body is changing, but because, unlike with cooked food, with raw food my body KNOWS when it has had enough and actually PROTESTS when I keep eating despite what it is saying to me. I would have thought such signs would have come in more subtle forms, not a sick-feeling to the stomach but maybe not.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Btw, whilst I ate the quinoa, I actually remember getting to a point and thinking "Hmm, I'm really quite done with this, I'm full and don't want anymore", but I kept on eating anyway because otherwise I would have had to put it away in the fridge or throw it out. Foolish, I chose eating despite what my body was saying over just putting it in the fridge or bin. Foolish.

Hi there i have experienced this when fully raw for a few weeks. I have also had strong desires to mono eat avocado then mango then alfalfa for days at a time then experienced almost revulsion when I look at the food item :p
I put it down to my body being so surprised she was getting decent food that she put in strong orders for the nutrients she needed then strongly told me when she had had enough & changed her order :D
Just wish I could let her have the driving seat more often cos guess what her food choices may have seemed mad but they made me feel fab ;) whereas my choices leave me feeling blah

Now, I"m beginning to think that the reason that this happens is not because my body is changing, but because, unlike with cooked food, with raw food my body KNOWS when it has had enough and actually PROTESTS when I keep eating despite what it is saying to me. I would have thought such signs would have come in more subtle forms, not a sick-feeling to the stomach but maybe not.I have found that my hunger signal works much better then my full signal. In fact once I start to eat a big meal I have found that I can easily start binge eating to the point where I am amazed at the amount of food I can put away ! The solution for me has been to use the very effective hunger signal and not bother with the less effective full signal. Now I wait for a slight hunger signal before eating more food and then I eat just enough to silence the signal and move into the sweet spot where there is no hunger and I feel satisfied. I guess its finding out what works for you and this approach works well for me. Good luck in finding what works for you.
