View Full Version : Hello all
My name is Nikki and I strive to eat a mostly raw diet, although I do have a passion for cooking and baking, so...I struggle.
I'm breastfeeding a toddler as well, and I'm constantly looking for ways to get him his veggies without having to steam them. We don't have a dehydrator for "baked" goods, so serving grains usually means baking.
I'm searching for parents who are breastfeeding/feeding their toddlers and children raw. Any breastfeeding mamas out there?

Hi Nikki! Welcome to the board!!:D
I have a 6 yr old & a 3 yr old. I still nurse the 3 yr old, but maybe once or twice a day, that's all. We've been raw for 5 months now.
The best way to get veggies in my girls are green smoothies, they love them, with a bit of agave syrup to sweeten just slightly.
Also dips- they don't like carrots much but if I have a yummy raw dip for them, they suddenly eat them all up! I experimented with a nibble tray in the beginning to see what each one liked. I took a muffin tin and put a different thing in each cup. Raw sunflower seeds, raisins, small chopped celery, baby carrots, dried currants or cherries, peas, blueberries, etc. Depending on the age of your toddler, this might work, or it might be a messy choking hazard- you decide!;) I realized my little one loved celery but my oldest one didn't. It helped to figure all that out without wasting a lot of produce.
The healthier you eat while nursing will probably mean your little one will eat healthier as well. It could be coincidence, but i really notice that with my girls. I ate badly with the first, and she only wants sweets, like fruits, almond butter, LARA bars, etc. With my 3 yr old, I ate better while nursing and she loved veggies, even ones like celery.
I hope this helps a little. :) Best wishes on your raw journey!!
