My friends want me to have a raw dinner party..to introduce them to raw foods and stuff.
Some of them are junk food junkies and others have more sophisticated tastes, and one has a nut allergy so there will have to be a couple of nut free dishes.
Does anyone have any good ideas?

Nori Rolls (nut free)
RP's Brownies (rolled into balls)
I would do veggies with a couple dips maybe zuchini hummus and Alissa's Indian Spinach Dip
Maybe Spiralized "pasta" with marinara sauce (nut free)
Fruit with a dip like soaked dates blended with some water and a touch of vanilla for like a caramel dip, or a chocolate dip with cacao and agave
Or you could have a smoothie dinner party (introduce them to green smoothies)

Definitely fruit smoothies and pizza...

Great ideas thanks! I love the idea of introducing them to green smoothies and just imagining the looks on their faces hehe. I might give them all smoothies when they arrive and put some crudites out.

I'm sure pizza will be a winner.
Could anyone share their favourite pizza recipes? Or pizza crust at least? I'd prefer to make one that is mainly sprouted grains not nuts.

You could always do a taco bar...rawcutter's spicey taco recipe has been reposted lately. I just made that for a birthday party and it went over really big. I put it all out and people created their own tacos or taco salads (you could put out some extra veggies for your friend who can't have nuts so she can make a veggie taco or killer salad) And Alissa's fudge balls- they are our favorite! How fun! Would love to hear how it goes and how they react!

My 17 yr old and her friends, love Alissa's Pad Tai sauce(nuts in it). I just put veggies out for dipping into it. Yesterday I had it with cabbage. That was yummie. They also LOVE Green smoothies. Don't forget guacamole!

You dont have to use the Umi plum vinegar reg will due. It is incredibly easy and packs a HUGE flavour punch! Serve in iceberg lettuce wraps. The clean super crunchiness of this nutient void salas goes really well!

Thanks for all your awesome ideas.
I think I'm going to do a themed buffet-type thing. I'm thinking either italian (lasagne, pasta, pizza) or mexican (tacos, chili, etc.)...but which to choose!

Honestly, the easiest pizza I learned was from Alissa--use a destemmed portabello mushroom! Just turn it upside down, spread with marinara sauce, add your toppings, and enjoy.

Here is a delicious recipe that I recently discovered through a weekly ezine that I get: http://www.rawvegan.com/recipes.php
It's really easy to make and everyone I've made it for loves it.
Veggie Pâté by Frederic Patenaude - Makes 2 servings
- 2 cups carrots, diced
- 4 Tbs. almond butter, or tahini
- 2 tsp. curry powder
- Sea salt, to taste (optional)
Process all ingredients in a food processor. If a food processor is not available, grate the carrots instead, and mix with other ingredients.
You can use this as a veggie dip or it is gresat spread on raw crackers, cucumber or zucchini slices. Also you can slice bell peppers into chunks and use them as crackers. I love cilantro so I have mixed in a bit of that as well sometimes.
Good luck with the raw dinner party!
Blessings, Luminea

Thank you!
After skimming through my limited selection of recipe books I think I am going to make italian food.
Current things I have in mind:
Raw pizza (crust recipes please? :D)
RFRW king oyster mushroom and dried cherry tomato fettuccini
RFRW lasagne
RFRW red beet ravioli
Russell James's Salsa Finta and Almond Polpetta
Russell James's fennel and cherry tomato tart
Russell James's purple pasta (not so italian but looks so pretty!)
RFRW Biscotti
RFRW macaroons
RFRW chocolate ganache
Ice cream
As you might be able to tell, I love Raw Food Real World and Russell James :(
I lent Alissa's book out which is a pain as it has good crust recipes in it (calzone crust!) Ohh, calzones!

Raw pizza (crust recipes please? :D)
I haven't tried this yet but it sounds delish! This is from Victoria Boutenko's book "12 Steps to Raw Foods."
Live Pizza Crust
Grind 2 cups flaxseed in a dry Vita-Mix container or in a coffee grinder.
Blend together:
3 stalks celery, chopped
2 medium tomatoes
1 cup water
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt (optional)
Mix ground flaxseed into blended mix by hand. Spread on dehydrating sheets with a spatula. Divide into squares of desrired size. Dehydrate only until dry but not crispy.

Alissa's pesto mushrooms (nut free)
Alissa's ravioli
not-campbells tomato soup with mediteranean almond bread
Pure food and wine lasagna
Joel's chocolate mousse pie (nut free - contains coconuts)
all the above recipes have sad-eaters groaning with ectasy.

for the nut-allergy person, pizza or spaghetti instead of the lasagna.
