Can someone clear this up for me please..

I remember a while back reading a thread saying nuts are no longer raw..

I have just stocked up on different kinds of organic nuts and seeds emailed the company (Suma) who said they nuts are raw... but I get the feeling from the response (unless they say salted) that she/he misunderstood me.

Can someone clear this up for me please thanks..

I think the best way to get the information you are looking for is to ask, "Are your nuts pasteurized or treated in any way (heated above 110 degrees F. or chemically) when harvested?" This will ensure they are addressing weather or not the nut is still viable or "living." I use 110 degrees because they can heat nuts to 115 degrees F. and still call them "raw," but who knows if the temperature is not a few degrees hotter destroying the enzymes and nutrients.
