View Full Version : I started the Master Cleanse today
I've just started the lemonade diet - thank you to maui_butterfly for recommending it :)
I love the taste of it, which is a bonus. It's funny, because whenever I'd get a cold I used to drink hot honey and lemon until I was better.
At the moment I'm feeling quite hungry and drinking the lemonade only makes the hunger abate for a few minutes. I'm hoping I won't go through too many days of feeling famished!
I get a brief headache immediately after drinking each glass.
All moral support gratefully received! :)
Should I be doing anything else like body-brushing? I know that I need to do the salt flush in the morning.
The only herbal teas I have are chamomile and peppermint - with either of these do?
Thanks

Good for you - I have been wanting to start the MC myself. I set a goal fate of Jan 22 to start. How long are you planning on staying on the cleanse?
Keep it up, I am sure the hunger will be gone quickly!!!:)

Because you are detoxing, body brushing is a great idea. Are you putting cayenne in your lemondade? You should be. Also you should have taken an herbal laxative tea (ie Smooth Move) last night and done a salt water flush this morning. If you didn't, it's no big deal but you should do it tonight.
You shouldn't be famished. You are allowed to drink up to 12 lemonades a day. Drink lots of water. I felt great on the MC. Don't be afraid to take more lemonade when you are hungry.
Best Wishes

yeah you definitely want the laxative tea. While I was on the cleanse, There was one day I didn't think I could handle the salt water flush, so I skipped it and just had the tea. I ended up throwing up all afternoon and it was no good. My recommendation is, follow the directions from the Master Cleanser book as closely as possible or there could be some nasty side effects.

Thanks for the advice. I feel okay and my concentration isn't too bad, but I am hungry again today. I think I need to get the laxative tea as I'm not going to the bathroom much.
Boxerfamily, I was reading your signature. Were you an insulin-dependent diabetic before you started eating raw food?

Thanks. I'll definitely buy the laxative tea. I tried the salt flush this morning and not a lot happened.

Goji, I didn't take insulin. My body makes it's own, but it wasn't listening to it. I took Metformin which allows my own insulin to work. I don't need it when I am raw, however. YAY! Although now, my insulin is working too well and I am having low blood sugar. AHHHHH! I am working on this now.
How is your MC going? I did the full 10days last year and really felt better. It took me a couple of days though for things to really get "moving" so don't panic if you just have yellow water after your salt water in the morning. That is normal. There is a MC message board somewhere, I don't remember. If you google Master Cleanse it should come up. Best wishes!!!

Thanks for the support, it means a lot to me. It's such a relief not to have to go through these things on my own. :)

there is a book by stanley burroughs about the master cleanse & a simplified one by peter glickman that is based on the original book. they should be available from the local bookstores. i have done 5 master cleanses last year. i went beyond the guidelines. it is said in the book to cleanse for a minimum of 10 days & maximum of 40 or beyond depending on the health situation. & should be done 3-4 times/year or more, again depending on your health situation. i thought i am not suppose to be talking about another website here so i really haven't mentioned about it. you can google peter glickman or the master cleanse & you will see a lot of helpful things there. they also have their forum. good luck.

I recently complete 10 days detoxification on The Lemonade Diet (Master Cleanser). After the 2nd day, I couldn't believe how easy it was!! My shooting pains and arthritic pains were gone ... and by the 3rd day my cravings were gone! While watching TV, I still had the habit of going to the kitchen, looking for something to eat, but I quickly realized there was nothing I wanted.
I DID NOT LIKE THE CAYENNE PEPPER in my drink. Years ago, when I tried this diet, I used cayenne pepper capsules ... the diet wasn't working so I quit early. Now I know one needs to have the cayenne pepper IN THE MOUTH to stimulate the full effect of the diet. This time I drank it exactly as instructed in the book and successfully lost all the junk accumulating in my joints and organs, along with 13-1/2 lbs. (icing on the cake, so to speak). I felt great!
My current problem is that after the diet I couldn't keep up with all the slicing, chopping, dicing that goes along with raw foods diet, so I snuck in convenience foods and my cravings came back ... back to SAD. I'm feeling miserable again, so I know I'll soon be back to The Lemonade Diet. I've got to get easy-to-fix raw foods under my belt, so I have no more excuses.

I did the MC two years ago for 21 days and felt absolutely fabulous. And lost 20 pounds.
And this was just before Christmas and I was cooking for my family, making and baking holiday goodies, and not a thing tempted me. My family was amazed...and wo was I.
I felt light, peaceful, energetic, productive, happy...perhaps the best I have ever felt. Just went to show me how much the foods I eat affect me on so many levels. I exercised every day. Met friends for lunch and brought along my lemonade. ;)
I've been having trouble making the firm decision to eat high raw so this is a great transition step.
You've inspired me. I'm starting tomorrow. I've got the lemons, maple syrup and cayenne and the desire.
Thanks! I'll be checking in here. I'm psyched!

Hi all,
I just posted on the january MC thread, but not sure which one will be more active or regularly used. I am starting the MC tommorow. This will be my second one. The first time I did it I did it for about 20 days and felt TERRIFIC... I just did about two weeks 100% raw, but fell off yesterday. I'm running very low on money this week and decided that it will be a lot cheaper and more beneficial if I did the MC as opposed to breaking the raw food diet- due to lack of money this week for a sufficient amount of fruits, veggies, and nuts. I've been extremely hungry (that time of the month) and craving. I think the mc will help as it did in the past. I just need to get past the first 2 days. Ok, let's see how it goes:)
