View Full Version : Does anyone feel the need for supplements?

I have noticed that going through these threads here that some do not feel as though they need any supplements at all. They do feel as though they are getting everything they need from the wonderful bounty of fresh produce, nuts, seeds and sprouts.

I personally still take a couple of supplements and feel the need for them. I take a vegan supplement called Ionic fizz to help supplement my Cal/magnesium/vitamin D and B needs. It also has added silica in the form of bamboo and ascorbic acid as well. I also take a great plant based 72 trace mineral supplement. And i take VitaMineral Green......which I really consider to be a food.....along with several other wholefood supplements.......a superberry powder and hempseed powder. I can really feel the difference in my wellbeing when I miss out on taking these for a few day's. And I am eating only organic here and lot's of greens. I have more energy now than I had in my 20's and I am not kidding when I say that even my teens who still eat cooked.....cannot keep up with me on a typical day.

I would love to hear if anyone else supplements here.

And by the way.......even though I would not be considered a "spring Chicken" , I am almost 48 now but since going raw I feel so ALIVE and energetic!

How about you?

Hi Cabosun~

I'm 44. I take a B-12 and more recently, a Vit. D supplement, both for SAD (ah, these New England winters) and for my skin. Also a good multi. I'm new to raw and, for now, these feel necessary, and I do feel the benefits of taking them.

Hope that helps. :)

I take B12 and D at the suggestion of something I read by Gabriel Cousens.
I really respect that he is open about saying that at this point as vegans we may need to supplement B12. The vitamin D is because I live in the second cloudiest city in the nation, Syracuse, NY. The winters are cold and dark. You could try to expose your skin to the pale winter sun, but you'd get frostbite!
Both the B12 and the D are supposed to help with depression, and I just succeeded in weaning myself off of antidepressants.
I eat hemp seeds daily for the EFA's, but they are really a food.

I don't supplement at the moment unless you count nutritional yeast but I count that more as a food. After I have been raw for a longer time, a year+ I guess I will probably start to supplement B12. I feel fine at the moment without the supplements though.

Yes i do supplement, i want to get some blood test done to see if all is well. Like dr. Cousens says, it is more natural to be healthy then not to take supplement. I do take angstrom size mineral occasionnaly, b12, vitamin d (i try to get from the sun more, but winter is more challenging), and other supplement. I don't take it always just occasionnaly. I still nurse so i need to make sure that i am loaded with nutriments.
