ok, i know a few people have contacted the company and the company claims theyre really raw. the website also claims they have a high mineral content. heres my question: if theyre kelp noodles, why are they transparent and have a neutral flavor? isnt kelp green and strong flavored? Also, how do they get them into the "noodle" shape and how do they get them to hold that shape? i dont think these are just "strips" of kelp; they seem like they are processed in some way, and the website says there is sodium alginate in them..... why dont these noodles fall apart when you put them in water, but they dont... hmmm. whole thing just has me sort of confused---

their website also says that when you remove the outer portion of the kelp, this is what is left inside....but it seems so *transparent* in appearance, its difficult for me to believe that it has a high mineral content.

im not tryna ruin the party here :) i know alot of people think these are great and i'd love to be able to use them too....but these questions have me wondering...... anyone???

thx.

If anyone does not feel comfortable with this product, simply do not order/eat them. I mean honestly, we can nit-pick and question many things and if they are truly raw or not (or even if they are "optimal" such as onions, garlic, nuts, etc.)...but if someone feels okay with them, they are going to eat them regardless just like with other things such as nama shoyu, kombucha, nutritional yeast, cashews (from the local natural food stores as opposed to the ones sold on certain raw food sites), miso, Lara bars and more.

The company answered and for some, their answer is sufficient. Why not at least try them out and see how YOU feel upon eating them. If you have been raw for a while then your body will more than likely send you a signal. I see you live in Seattle...I found them here in Olympia in my co-op (single-pack, not the big case of 'em) so perhaps PCC carries them. Try 'em and if you don't like them or if you still have doubts about their rawness, pass them along and stick with zucchini for pasta! ;)

The company told me they remove the outer green skin. They then dry what is left and make it into a powder where they reconstitue it and shape into noodles.

Hope that help; but Rawkinlocs is correct make a choice that you are comfortable with. That's what is great about this lifestly is that you tailor it to your own needs.

Cheers,

Actually, I feel if a product is called raw, then it Should Be Raw. Buyer Beware!

I agree with you! Kelp noodles are highly processed and I don't use them because I think they are raw. John Kohler has a nice video about kelp noodles. If seaweed is to be eaten in a noodle-like way then sea spaghetti is a better choice in my view.
