Are Buckwheat Groats & Buckwheat the same?

I could only find groats in the bins at WFM yesterday. Didn't know if they are the same or not.

No. Buckwheat groats are raw, buckwheat has been toasted. Raw buckwheat is green through to very light brown. Toasted buckwheat is brown through to dark brown.
