I did it! I got the Green Star 3000!

Well after weeks of considering the Omega 8005 to then forget about it when I learnt about it's common auger chipping issue, I then considered the Green Star for about a week before deciding to get it. It was MUCH more than I was expecting to pay for a juicer (I was expecting $215 for the Omega, I paid $380 for the Green Star 3000, not to mention the shipping is $66 rather than the $44 it would have cost to ship the smaller Omega).

I also got the 74 minute green star juicer DVD for $13 along with a few pounds of Celtic Sea Salt since the same store also sells it and I don't find many stores that have any, I've been out of Celtic salt for a while, I get a nearly equivalent salt at the health food store when I'm out of Celtic salt.

I really hope I use this juicer more than the one I have now at the price I paid for it, it will also be much more tempting to use knowing how effective it is (with my Breville junk, I know half the juice is going in the trash, doesn't make me want to use it much or at all).

Thanks to everyone that helped me decide, it was a very ahrd decision, I've never had to think so much before buying something, the reasons are it will be the most expensive machine in the kitchen (other than stove and fridge) and may also be the least used one if I use it like my current one, but hopefully I'll use it daily, I'm sure I will for the first few weeks, the question is, how long will I keep using it daily?

I am jealous, I don't have a good juicer yet, but I will soon, maybe in the next two months I'll get one, I have a couple large purchases coming up in the next month or so.

Congratulations on your Green Star!! I have had one for several years and love it.

It works out better for me to juice a lot at one time - about 3 days of juice so do not have to deal with the whole process very often, and we can just grab a jar to drink anytime. I juice once a week or two (do green smoothies the rest of the time). I know that there is the ongoing issue of how long the juice retains enzymes/nutrients. Based on this information from Hallelujah Acres research http://www.hacres.com/diet/articles/Juice_Extr_Comp_2007.pdf, I feel pretty confident that there is a fairly high percentage left after a few days, especially if storing properly. I use canning jars and seal with my food saver with the canning jar attachment. I know a few people who freeze - not sure which is best.

I would like to try that food saver method! Well, according to Gary Null if you add vitamin C powder and lemon juice to your juices it helps protect the enzymes during freezing. I always try to put my juices in individual glass bottles so that it thaws easier, some bottle take too long. Then you have some melted some not, and if you wait till it's all thawed that can't be too good. So in any case I find that the Lipton Ice Tea glass bottles work well- I just buy a six pack and dump out the tea. I leave a few inches at the top for freezing swell and lie them on their sides. That helps keep it thinner to thaw quicker. They also recommend taking the frozen bottle out of the freezer the night before and putting it in the fridge to thaw. I haven't found that it thaws that way, but I suppose it would loosen it up a bit. I made up some frozen juices for my mom and she said she was noticing the positive difference with her eyes, so I guess it works ok. I'm really going to redouble my efforts to get more juice in, I really do think it is the single most important thing you can do for your health and I need to really make it a priority!

I got the Green Star yesterday and it's awesome! I simply can't believe the taste of the juice, my Breville juicer, which I've been saying over and over is terrible, is actually 1000 times worst than I ever would have imagined! Juices that I HATED like pineapple juice out of the Breville are TO DIE FOR out of this juicer! I really really can't believe the difference.

Centrifugical juicers are NOT juicers. Period!

By the way, about adding vitamin C powder, watch it as most is synthetically made from petroleum (like any pharmaceutical drug) and is extremely carcinogenic.
