new to raw in long beach, california

hello! i am new to raw food, wondering if there are any raw eaters in my area. there is a restaurant called good mood food cafe in huntington beach where the chef offers "cooking" lessons. the staff there says her classes are always full so i KNOW there must be people nearby i can chat with! let me know, it is such a struggle to be all alone when trying something new!

i am 37, an ultrasonographer with two girls ages 5 and 17 months and two older stepsons (12 and 14). vegetarian for 20 years, but not the most healthy vegitarian!! still trying to lose the 20 extra pounds from my last baby.

Welcome! I'm in Encino. There's a resturant called Au Lac that's a little bit of a drive for you but I'm told they have a seperate raw menu.

Welcome, welcome. I am raw in Long Beach also. Au Lac is only 15 minutes away and is head and shoulders above Good Mood Food Cafe, in my opinion. I have taken Ursula's uncooking class for entrees. It was not full until the day or so before, but, yes, there is an incredible network of raw fooders in the area -- though many/most are in either Orange County or LA. Be sure to stop in The Living Temple on Beach in Huntington Beach -- just south of the 405 in Alpine Village/OLd World Village. The proprietor, Robin Jones, has raw food supplies (Nama Shoyu, olive oil, hemp seeds, coconut oil, cacao nibs, etc.) plus tons of books and info. That's where I bought Alissa's book and DVD ... and have returned many times for other books or just to chat. He's hosted Victoria Boutenko and many other raw food experts and has lots of referrals and contacts in the area.
