For long term health and wellness how important do you think detox is ? Do you think detox is as important as the food you eat ? or the exercise you get ? I would be interested in hearing opinions about detox and long term health and wellness. Do you have an opinion or thought about detox ?

I feel that it is a vital part of your overall wellbeing. How long do you think a person can remain dis-ease free when their cells are swimming in a cesspool? It would be only a matter of time. Cellular health is the key to one's overall wellbeing. Detox, quality whole foods, exercise, sunshine and rest and a positive attitide.......a passion for living.......these are all things that are needed in order to thrive.

What a RAWsome question!:p Lynn

I think it's very important.I am going 100% raw starting tomorrow but I've been 80% for a week.I already feel detox starting and I know it's going to be very hard for me because my body has been toxic for so long.I am not looking forward to it but when it gets difficult I will just meditate about what's happening and try to help it along with positive thoughts.
Someone mentioned mucus coming up,I have that too and I will be so happy when I get rid of it all.Right now I can feel and hear crackling sounds when I breathe. And no I'm not sick,it's just the crap that's built up in my system.

Also I've noticed that when I exercise my sweat smells like acid. It's been like that for years.I used to be at a healthy weight a long time ago and exercised 1-2 hours daily.I asked everyone I knew about the acid smell and no one had any idea why. Some even told me it was just my imagination.
Now I know what it is! It's my body releasing the acid in my sweat.
I am looking forward to the day when my body will be alkaline and I will smell good even when I sweat.

I'm not sure what your definition is of "detox" yet, mine is to eliminate toxins which I tend to do daily... even 3-4 times daily. A natural detoxification is through the digestive system and the bowels.

Anything that's not being used to cleanse and support the body needs to be eliminated. Is it important? Heck yeaaaah!

I'm not sure what your definition is of "detox"I define "detox" as the removal of harmful substances ( http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/detoxification ). I agree with all of the above posts and I think detox is every bit as important to good health as diet and exercise.

I am detoxing naturally through what I eat (and don't eat). I eat lots of greens to help the process. (About 2lbs a day) I don't think it is necessary to do anything besides eating a organic raw vegan diet to detox, but YES detoxing is so so so important to being healthy. ;)
