Deer and Gardening

Hey, I've finally got a good backyard to do some gardening next summer and I live out in the countryside of Oregon. But I'm wondering how to keep deer out of the garden, as I don't want to just grow a salad bowl for them. Any suggestions? thanks

my parents have 2-3 acres that they grow veggies on and then sell at farmers markets...my dad finally ended up putting 8 or 10 ft deer fencing up around the whole thing. come to think of it ive seen deer fencing listed on craigslist (seattle though), so you might want to check there. the fencing i saw on CL actually had smaller gauge holes at the bottom that was supposed to keep rabbits out too...(although i think rabbits can sneak through stuff; depends on how small the holes are)

i have also heard of people buying a spray that is basically some kind of coyote-pee scented spray that you spray on the ground. dont know if its real or synthetic or if its organic or what. supposed to keep deer away tho. but id do fencing over that if i could.
