I've tried many, many new things in my life, this is the first time I've tried raw. So I don't do pain and I don't do hard, I've been a plus size for a lone time and its time to take it off. I'm going to my first class on Saturday Jan 19 and I'm willing to give this a try. This is Friday and I'm getting ready to get ready, any suggestion? .

What first class on saturday?

Good for you for being willing to make a change for your own health and welfare! I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results as I was. :)

Miss Shirley,

Are you going to a raw food class? If you can stick to this raw food lifestyle even for a few days you will be motivated to stick to it even longer because you will feel so much better. Just keep it simple at first. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up. If you don't have Alissa's book you must get it. If you can juice and make smoothies it will help keep you on track. Don't give up. Read as much as you can about raw food and raw food recipes, always check into this forum for inspiration and motivation, and DON'T GIVE UP!

I have found the raw food lifestyle to be very rewarding. The weight loss I have experienced has been great but even better is the health benefits that have happened as well. Take your time and persevere on your journey and I'm sure you will find it rewarding as well.

Beginning Raw cooking class with Diana Harrelson, Saturday January 19, 2008. Yep, I signed up. Diana gave me a few tips last year, and she gave me a raw salad dressing that was the boom, some one else gave me a raw soup with wheat grass a little hard on my system, any way, I asked to be notified when she did her next class. So here I am. Also this is my first time blogging, I'm still reading all the instructions. But like the idear of telling a friend about my progress and concerns, its also like making a commitment. So here I am open to RAW!!!

Welcome Miss Shirley. I hope you do indeed buy Alissa's book. I "fell off the wagon" since the holidays in December after having been 100% RAW for three weeks. I felt absolutely wonderful - so much energy and I was starting to sleep through the night without any meds. My mood was even too. I lost about 8 lbs. I wish I had never gotten side-tracked. Then, this week, I hauled out Alissa's book for the second time and began reading the experiences in it again. I can't for the life of me understand why I wasn't impressed enough the very first time I read this book to stick with it. The experiences are so encouraging - I can identify with Nancy and Rachel (see pages 218 and 233). There will be a RAW class in my area in March and I am thinking of going. Would you be willing to share Diana's salad dressing recipe?

Hi Miss Shirley! You're gonna love it!! 2 wks RAW and I've lost 8 1/2 lbs!! I can't tell you how good I feel, I've even been motivated to start back exercising! The key for me is to have a wide variety of fruits, nuts, veg's, and if you will be in a social eating situation, go prepared, with a little snack bag! That way you won't feel deprived!! I'm going out to lunch w my son (in college) so let me hike up my (now) baggy pants and be on my way! :)
