Hello everyone,
I remember someone posting here about her wonderful experience with coconut oil. Her screename escapes me at the moment. I am wondering if anyone else here takes it on a consistent basis. Can you share your experiences?

I eat it often, not for its health benefits, but for its taste benefits.
I often make raw fudge with coconut oil. I could easily (and often do) eat half a batch (1/4 cup oil) in one day.
I haven't noticed any effects other than being able to eat as much delicious fudge as I want without gaining weight, which I think is pretty cool.
Coconut oil also doesn't make me feel as bloated, full, and sick as eating a lot of other kinds of fats can.

I eat it all the time...especially in my raw pancakes and it's fabulous. It helps clear my acne...especially when I use it as a moisturizer. ;)

i take 2 tablespoons daily. i mix 1 tablespoon with some stevia and warm water and just drink it. it's really good. as shel said, it helps with my acne as well. i do use it as a mouisturizer too. it helps to stabalize my moods, blood sugar, hunger, no more constipation, etc. so yes it is a great oil. and it does help with weight loss as well. before i found raw, i found coconut oil and i was taking around 3-4 tablespoons a day and i lost weight using it. i am still losing weight but i'm sure it is a combonation of eating raw, coconut oil, etc. hope this helps.

I love it! I use omega nutrition - http://www.omeganutrition.com/products-gourmet.php - They have two types; virgin and regular, both organic. BOTH are raw and the great thing about the regular one is that is HAS NOT COCONUT FLAVOUR AT ALL and that is great for those recipes you want the benefits of coconut oil but not the taste.

I melt it and put it in the a.m. green smoothies - along with lecithin to help the body absob the oil. I also use it as an allover skin moisturiser and best of all I use put it on my hair just after I've washed it giving me Shirley Temple ringlets and not FRIZZ!

I havent noticed bennifits just from the oil but I have lost 40lbs in the three months including so it isnt hurting!

I love it in the smoothies as I have more staying power when I have it or any fat for that matter. Greens and healthy fats work really well for me :p However it's 1T. of Udo's oil blend every morning that makes my skin like a baby!

Cheers,

EPPP

I have pretty oily skin and have had acne since I was about 13. It was REALLY bad in the past but still lingers to this day (I'm 23). I have been eating coconut oil for a few weeks now and I love it. I just recently started using it as a mosturizer on my face since it is so cold and dry here. I would rub it in and then leave it for 10-15 minutes and wipe the excess off. Within the last two days I have started to break out pretty bad and today stopped with the coconut oil. What do you guys think? Was it the oil or other things in my life (stress, that half a SAD pizza I ate...) I want it to help MY acne, and it felt so lovely on my skin. :(

i wouldn't stop taking the coconut oil because it does help. it could be from what you ate like you said or your body is detoxing and it is coming out through the skin. i had that happen to me a few weeks into it and i kept with it and it is getting better and better everyday. i'm 23 as well and have had acne for as long as i can remember, but this actually helps. it seems to take longer than stuff you would get over the counter or prescription CRAP, but this is the healthy and natural way to do it and i'm getting better results so i'm keeping with it. just continue with it is my suggestion.

I will, I did some other reading and it seems like a lot of people use it to help acne. Thanks. I wish I knew of a good natural/homemade cleanser, I'll have to do some research.

I use it for oil pulling-and as soon as I can afford more will start to take it 2x a day-I've read it is a real good thyroid support for those of us with hypothyroid.

birdofparadise- a good natural cleanser that i use, (which one of the ingredients is coconut oil) is from islandsoapway.com. she makes all these different types of soaps that have different ingredients, but i use the beauty bar to help with the acne. i think its $5 a bar, but it lasts a long time. i think they might have a sample pack too, so you might want to check it out.

Thanks! That company seems pretty awesome, I think I am going to try the Beauty bar, five dollars isn't bad considering how much I spend now!! I am sick of putting all these expensive harsh things on my skin.

I used it externally because I heard it was a fantastic for your skin and soften it up, etc but it made me break out. It's fantastic in my food, but I would not use it externally again. I had the good brand too.

When I use internally though, I notice my skin really glowing and the face looks SO SMOOTH, SOFT and HYDRATED .... cheeks glowing. Though use in moderation, because I noticed that I gained a little weight when using it.

Wonder if there's a way to make a somewhat foamy raw soap...sometimes I just use honey...and on my skin afterwards coconut oil or olive or flax.

I heard and have tried successfully using it as a deodorant too! I guess it has some antifungal/bacterial properties.
