I've been having problems with my gallbladder on SAD. I've told my husband that I think I can solve the problem by going raw. He thinks that once you start to have problems, it's best to just get the gallbladder removed. I happen to like having all of my parts, but I've also heard that the gallbladder can tend to flare up during times of weight loss. Anyone know anything about this? Do you know anyone that has healed their gallbladder with Raw, or any other means?
Thanks,
Katy

I have with a vegetarian diet AND qigong. My gb hurt so bad one time I didn't think I could GET to my class much less teach it. I made it, taught it and by the time I was done, it was soooo much better.
I have kept ALL my body parts using a plant-based diet and conscious movement.

Thanks Revell! I actually have an intro to qigong class scheduled later in the month. I already meditate and do Reiki and other energy modalities. On to Raw. Just one more reason I need to do this. I love your podcasts by the way!

I love juice therapy. Norman Walker in his book Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices recommends for gallstones or gravel to alternate juice of one lemon in warm water and a tumbler full of Carrot/beet/cucumber juice. His books are really quite good and inexpensive. My husband used this same therapy for kidney stones 9 years ago and has never had a problem since. They ended up disolving to the point of a silt like substance and passing easily. Now this is to assume you are having problems with stones/gravel because you didn't really indicate if it was this or low function.

Do you have gall stones or an inflamed gall bladder?

I sure can testify to having very painful gallstones two years ago and knew that it was time for a major gallbladder/liver cleanse. I did this same cleanse on my daughter 5 years ago when she was diagnosed with her cancer. Well no stones came out for her, but they sure did for me! I have been free of the problem for two year's now

Thanks so much. I will check all this out. I'm not sure what my problem is, it's pain that I know is coming from my gallbladder. Stones, I think...

Just a thought, I would suggest NOT doing any fasting at this point, of any kind~
I gave myself extreme gallstones by doing a few 10, 21 & a few 40 days fasts over a 8 or 9 month period (for spiritual, not physical reasons.)
I did start out overweight, without the healthiest of diets, (organic, lotsa raw, but not vegan or even vegetarian) but had no problems until I did too much fasting...I've read this other places, as well~
Hope you feel better soon!

His books are GREAT, aren't they? I sometimes forget them yet they are simple, direct and from his own experiences and research. LOVE 'em!

I think I have most if not all of them in duplicate so I always have one to loan out (have lost a lot this way, but if it helps someone it's worth it).

After I had been on a raw diet for about 6 months, I had a gall bladder attack. It felt too much like labor!! with no pretty baby at the end! I don't know if I passed a stone or what. I haven't had any trouble, since.

I had my gall bladder removed in 2002 and I swear it was the beginning of the end. I had stones so big that it actually reptured so it had to come out. I wish someone had told me of all the problems associated with having no gall bladder. If you can heal yourself naturally - do it. You don't want to end up like me. I was extremely healthy, a fitness competitor and never sick a day in my life until it came out. After the surgery nothing in my diet or exercise routine changed, but I started to pack on the pounds I went from 130lb to 200 lb in one year - and that was eating extremely healthy, most fruit and veggies and some cooked food. I have found so many blogs with people stating the same thing. This then lead to a congested liver, the innability to properly digest food (extreme diahrea), migraines, major aches and pains, thyroid problems and the list goes on. I highly recommend to do what you can to remain healthy and stick to the RAW lifestyle. I am so glad that I have discovered this site - I am hoping by doing a master cleanse to start and then eating RAW I will heal myself of all that is plauging me.....I hope this helps

I did the flush about 2 years ago and passed over 100 gallstones. My friend/partner also passed a lot. We both felt better immediately, although the flush itself was a bit icky.
If the stones are small, you can take 2 tablespoons of olive oil and lay on your right side for a half an hour and they should pass, but don't do this with big stones.:)

Please get an ultra sound before you do any type of cleanse or flush, so you are at least making an educated decision how to treat it. I have not regreted the gallbladder surgery, as I had two huge grape sized / shaped stones. I tried the flushes they made me sick, didn't pass a thing. I even waited 5 years after I got the ultrasound. I got really sick from it, and the pain became too much. I didn't want to kill myself trying to get rid of them myself and leave three little kids, that was Dec. 1987. Some things just will not work in this imperfect world. I have not had any of the problems ness 123 had, but the other women in my family did have some.

Without an ultrasound how would a person know if they were big or small stones??
Exactly. I should have said. I had an ultra sound first. I have a heavy cold and wasn't thinking straight. I had my gall bladder out later on any way as it stopped working.:(. I get over acid as a result, but I think that is down to diet. Just a 1/4 of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda helps with that though.

My experiences with painful gallbaldder: My belly hurt especially when touched by my kids as they attempted to sit in my lap. I had a sonagram. It showed nothing. Yet the pain persisted. Homeopathic doc. recommended herbs and a caster oil pack at bedtime. It helped, but no cure. I did internet investigation and was astounded at the information about gallstones and liver problems. So, I decided I would take matters in my own hands. I did a liver flush as recommended. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't horrible. My advice is plan to stay home next day and stay close to bathroom with pants that undo quickly (think sweatpants w/o ties). I passed many stones. I didn't bother to count -- too stinky. I repeated this process several more times, passing numerous stones each time. I estimate I passed in excess of 1000 stones, which seems normal according to all I read.
Other hint: when doing flush, go to bed as recommended immediately, but have head and shoulders elevated, this prevents nausea. Trust me on that one!
I hope you find your answer. Oh, and yes, I was doing all raw at the time (okay, mostly raw). I have not have any problems since then.

I had a follow up gyno appt. on Thursday. My doctor noticed a fairly large area on my right side was raised. He called it a mass, which totally freaked me out! I could see the concern in his face. He would not speculate, but wanted me to immediately have blood work done and a CT scan the next day (yesterday). I'm so scared right now. I'm had gallbladder issues a few years ago. I went to the emergency room doubled over in pain. I was hurting so bad I couldn't fill out the paperwork, and I pretty much fell out of the chair. They did a CT scan and found out it was my gallbladder that was giving me all the problems. They also mentioned there was a spot on my liver, but they were not concerned. They said it could be a shadow.
At the time I was a vegetarian. Since September I've been dabbling in the raw food diet. Not 100%. Not sure I'll ever be. I'm wondering if the mass the doctor found could be from my gall bladder or liver. I really feel no pain. I could feel a little when he was pressing on it.
So, now I have to wait until Monday to find out anything. His office closed at 12:00 on Friday, so I'm guessing this is why I didn't hear good or bad. My thoughts are: If it was really bad, they would have sent me straight to the operating room to have what ever it is removed. Second thought is it's so bad there's nothing they can do. Wish I could stop all the thoughts going through my head. One consolation is: Better something happen to me than my child. That's getting me through each hour. He also has his Dad to fall back on. Just need some positive thoughts sent my way. :)
Anybody else have anything similar since transitioning?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I would not worry about anything more serious than gallbladder disease or stones, as that can be overcome. There are many worse things than gallbladder surgery, now it is outpatient. If they are not concerned about the shadow, you don't need to be either. All 3 of my sisters and mother had gallbladder surgery, I was the last of the sisters; all at a young age, but mom was in her 70's. The first one had stones in the bile duct that burst, causing serious life threatening problems, and exploratory surgery with a 12" incision. That was 30 years ago, they could not see any cause on any of the tests and waited too long; because it didn't make sense, she was just 19. There used to be profile for gallbladder problems: female, fair, fat, forty, and fertile. We all had various symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarhea, dizziness, fainting from pain. The stones and or gravel vary in size, color and shape. I still have my yellow, gritty, perfectly formed grapes, and one sister still has her little tub of chunky turquoise. One had disease, no stones, but all recovered fine, with the exception of dairy issues. I am the only one who waited, and it was not wise to put my life at risk. There can be many factors involved in the gallbladder, but fatty food, and any thing difficult to digest may cause the mass (inflammation) you refer to. I got to where bananas, dry toast, baked yams (in there skin) were the only things that didn't cause problems. I spent many nights with an ice pack on my side, you could easily feel and see the mass. I was eating chicken enchiladas a few days after my surgery, and never had any serious digstive issues, since. I hope my personal knowledge and relative experience will help you feel more confident, at ease and able to make the best decision for you. Warm thoughts and the experience of female sisterhood to you.

Also, a good understanding of how the gallbladder works, causes, symptoms, and other information relating to it, is important. Knowledge and education is empowering and puts you in control, be confident in that. Do your own research into any treatment you would consider. I did not wait for the dr to drop the shoe, I went and asked for the ultrasound. Following my own leading, not seeking medical advice, or treatment. You are always your own best health advocate.

Lavendula,
Thank for you for your knowlege and insight. I will do some researching, and knowing my aunt, she has probably been researching my problem every since I told her on Thursday. She already suggested I get a second opinion no matter what the result is.

Has anyone done the gall bladder liver flush? Has anyone done it using Coconut Oil instead of EVOO? I don't really like EVOO in other recipes, so I know I can't stomach it with the other ingredients. They are EVOO, Grapefruit and Epsom Salt.
I appreciate any feedback. Thank You!

I've done it with EVOO. I seem to have elimated a whole lot of stones from doing it. If I did it again, I might skip the epsom salt part...my digestive system moves pretty fast anyway and it's pretty harsh.
