.....Hi all! ....my hubby and I have been enjoying green juice and really notice the clarity and positive effects from it....we are transitioning to Raw, so still eat cooked...but healthy...primarily vegan foods...so we are not 100%, but still notice the effects of the green juice.....at first I just didn't know if it was psychological...but he feels it, as well as another friend that does green smoothies.........what is it that does that? and how???? I'm assuming it's the chlorophyll...but what scientifically is happening in the body when it is ingested? BTW, we are juicing a head of romaine, few handfuls of spinach, a whole lemon and a couple of apples per serving{green lemonade per Living Cuisine}.........thanks a bunch for any info.!

I'm not sure how it all works in the body, but the body does, indeed, become very happy and comfortable! Check out Victoria Boutenko's Green for Life. She's got al the scienc in there and it's a not too long easy read. :)

I'm in the same boat--I think it is the iron....b/c the primary items from my veg green juice is Vit A and iron.

I don't do the juice because, as a diabetic, I feel more comfortable with the smoothies (The whole fruit/green is better for us) but I experience the same thing. I think I am becoming addicted to them. My daughters love them as well YAY!

There is a lot of calcium in greens, and in a form that is easily absorbed and retained, at least that is a fact. There is also a lot of natural sodium in greens like kale, dandelion leaves, spinach, chard, etc. I read somewhere that natural sodium is rejuvenating. Have to see that yet, but at least I cleared an egg-size large goitre completely on green juices, it is not scientific, I know, but that is the real world. Strange enough green smoothies had not done the trick, but the juices did.

I think it's a combination of chlorophyll and all the vitamins in the greens; according to Victoria Boutenko chlorophyll and human blood are very close in their structure. I strongly recommend her book if you want to learn more. If I may make a suggestion, Victoria and Frederic Patenaude put together a nice program called "Green for Life" which includes her book, a teleseminar recording (with a transcript), Q&A document, and a 7-day green smoothie cleanse (I've done it, it's fabulous).
