I am new to eating raw and am wondering about alcohol consumption. I drank some wine last nite and am wondering if that is ok.

She says Organic Wine w/o Sulfites is raw. I find it really hard to stay raw if I drink because then my body wants some sort of carbs like pizza or chips...so I try to have carbonated water with lime or coconut water. Both of those at least look a little exotic!

I was under the impression that all wine is raw because it comes from grapes

My experience: I used to consume lots of beer/wine (even made my own). These days I think about 'raw' and more about 'fresh, raw plant foods'. To me grapes taste better than wine, and I feel better without alcohol rather than with it. Just my take. However, if it is in line with YOUR goals - I support you 100%.

I always have it at the back of my mind that I could have a glass of wine if I wish, but I just find that I don't want it in the same way i used to before I was raw... same with tea and coffee... for me, the urge to drink these just faded away naturally.

If you like wine, you should try Kombucha. It's a raw drink made from fermented tea. It's great for you and makes me warm all over like wine used too. :p Yummmm! You would probably prefer divine grape...but my personal fav is gingerade.

Good luck to you.

On another post you asked if I drink...I used to have a glass of wine with a cheese and cracker plate late in the evening to unwind with the hubby, but after losing weight...I can't. It takes very little to actually get me drunk at my current weight...and I don't drink for that purpose. So....no...I don't drink...that's my personal choice. ;)

This kind of thing is completely up to you. In Raw Food Real World it has a lot of cocktail recipes with wine and sake in it. I think if you want to drink its better to stick with wine and sake rather than beer, spirits etc. I only drink at parties and things now, and when I do I just drink wine. I used to drink a lot to calm my anxiety but I don't need to anymore!

That makes no sense. Grape jelly comes from grapes, but it's cooked. Not sure if wine is cooked or not. My dad used to make it but I don't remember the procedure.
