So, I can only do this one way--in Alissa's 5-day training? It seems like I must be misunderstanding something here....because that would mean that I'll need to wait until 2009 when I can afford to do the whole thing, instead of embarking on the path right now, which is realistic for me. I MUST be confused. That would have alot of folks kind of over a barrel...and I'd just signed up for a Level 1 training in my area. Now I'll have to rethink that, which is too bad for the Certified Teacher who went through the process herself, only to lose a client who doesn't want to end up paying twice for the same info! It's especially tough because she was the only AC CT in three states near me who was offering a course. I had to do alot of looking to find someone offering courses.

Please tell me I'm confused! :)

Why don't you just teach; create the income, then get certified?

I don't understand why you would be paying twice as much for the classes by one of Alissa's teachers.

As far as I know, we all charge the same thing.

I was explaining why I would NOT want to take this Level 1 course if I'd be taking the 5-day training at a later date. Giving my rationale for telling this woman I won't be taking her course after all. See what I mean?

Revvell--thank you for a very good idea. I will say that I'm somewhat surprised that I've had such a hard time finding someone who teaches the Level 1, which has clearly had an impact on my own thoughts about doing it. Considering how awesome this way of eating is and how much of an investment Alissa's course is, I was expecting to see more activity...could be the time of year. Which is not to say that I couldn't "Just Do It." :)

Just do it!

I took Alissa's class. Not everyone who takes it takes it to teach which is why you wont find as many teachers as you might expect. Many do it to learn how to make incredible food, get the certification people often ask for, to coach, and also to get a stronger sense of who they are. I highly suggest it.

In the meantime, just teach what you know! Take whatever money you receive and put it towards the training. Might get you there faster, eh?

Find out if the level one training will help you in creating the food. For me, sometimes it's just a few little things I learn in a class which makes the whole thing worthwhile.

IF you need level one now for whatever reason then go for it.

Start your buisness and then make some money, take the 5day certification when feasible then deduct it as a buisness expense:)

The 5-day is fantastic, but there's nothing that says you have to be certified to teach classes. You do have to be certified by Alissa to teach her classes, but you could teach your own in the meantime...

Ditto everyone else!

I have taken the Level I and loved it even though I took it well into my journey and new most of it.

It was great to see how the classes are done. I am planning on taking the BIG one with Alissa once the youngest is in 1st grade - i.e. in school most of the day!

In the mean time without even planning or advertising I find myself teaching my first class next month! It was one of those snowball things, one person wanted info then another than yet another and then next I knew I was booked to do a class OMG!! And I have no problems not having taken the big course, I know it will be great :p

So JUST DO IT!

All the best,

EPPP

I must admit how...scary it is to think of just beginning to teach now. I have moments when I think, "Yeah! Why not!" Then I think, "Ohhh...noooo. I can't do that..." Funny, because I have such passion for this way of eating and I've taught before, so it's not as if I've never presented information to people! Yesterday, a woman crossed my path in town and suddenly started sharing about her feelings of fatigue and halting recovery from illness and her husband's recent heart attack and her worries about him. I listened and shared what I was doing with her and she even took the web address for RFT. I'd never seen this woman before. I KNOW that was the Universe going "nudge, nudge." Then I ran into a friend who excitedly told me she was going vegan (not raw, but still a positive shift for her!) because she wanted to look luminous like me. I couldn't believe it. I do think that the raw foods have given me an increased glow that people are responding to...it means alot. I'll just keep talking about raw and maybe she'll make that shift, too, someday.

Here's another excuse--I'm not 100% raw--only about 80%--and I'd told myself that I wouldn't be ready to teach until I was 100% raw for a length of time and also certified. When I hear myself say this, it really does sound like fear and hesitation to step up....

Oh, AND I was telling myself that I needed to be completely out of and over the relationship that I'm in, which is ending in a several months-long process. But why do I need to wait? It's an excuse. I had this wacko thought process that I would wait until I felt empowered and really good again to do this, when DOING it would help me to feel empowered and really good. Ha. Food for thought.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Everyone,

Alissa asked me to chime in to this thread. IF you have a dream of taking all three levels of certification, I am happy to help you to the best of my ability. My name is Elaine and I help Alissa teach the Level 3 class in the 5-day Certification Program. Alissa created the Level 3 program to make it easier for people to jump into the raw food business.

IF it is truly your dream to start a raw food business or to teach raw foods from the heart, there are easy ways to make this happen. Alissa's classes help you move beyond your fears and considerations.

I don't understand exactly what you are asking in this thread, but I wanted to let you know that you are welcome to call or write to me anytime. I am happy to answer your questions about the certification classes. I am easiest to reach by email. My address is: Elaine@BeingValued.com.

Elaine, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to this post! I TRULY appreciate your support. I look so forward to doing this! It's very, very important to me and I want to do it "right." :) I am going ahead with Level 1 now and plan to do Alissa's 5-day course at a later date.

Best wishes to you, too!

I must admit how...scary it is to think of just beginning to teach now.

I know that feeling. I'd been teaching at a local college doing demonstrations. Last one I did, my food processor chose not to work. There was another, very small one, available in the kitchen I was in so I used that.

After that I realized I am REALLY not into bringing food, appliances, etc. to do a class so, thought I'd just have a "Raw Food 101, non-prep" class. Just me talking and answering questions. I set it up for 2 hours.

On the way over I almost panicked. What am I going to talk about for 2 hours????? Well, it was GREAT!!! Lasted 2 1/2 hours! Just answering questions! I also brought samples of a couple of things I'd made ahead.

Did that twice. Second on lasted 2 hours, 20 minutes. Too fun! :)

I like all your awarenesses. Congratulations!!!

Ha, Revvell, thanks for sharing. That's inspiring.:D

So that I can get a ballpark figure for budgeting purposes--

What do 5-day trainees do for accomodations?

Thanks!

I can't remember where I stayed. That's an Elaine question because she's got all the info on the places nearby. I wish I could remember the name of the place I stayed at. The woman (manager/owner) was sooo sweet.

What happened for me was, someone who was living near there was taking the class so she picked me up and dropped me off. I think, if a few are staying at the same hotel it's good to share cab costs.

Maybe someone else here has a better memory than I?

Hi Raw Sweetie, I have some ideas I like to share with you, that you can do until you can go to Alissa's 5 day training which is great and life changing. Send me an email by clicking on my username and I'll share what I have with you. I tried to email you but I see that you have the option turned off.

FYI, I won't be able to respond to your email until later tonight, right now I'm at work and they block all internet email accounts so I can't check email I can only write on the forum.

and found someone who will teach 1&2 in one weekend near by. I had contacted Alissa's contact and was told there would be level 3 this year. I looked at the website yesterday and noticed that all they were talking about was the 5 day event. I decided to still take 1&2 because I can do it this month. See how far that gets me and see what Alissa does. Doesn't seem fair to the instructors out there to only have level 3 in NE combined with the other 2 courses.

Will there be seperate level 3 classes alone sometime? Or a discount for those who have taken 1&2 somewhere else? The problem is, if someone what to take all 3, they would have to come up with a lot of money all at once and a week in Maine instead of doing it one at a time on weekends. Plus, those that teach level 1 & 2 would in a way loose customers - those that want to do all three levels. Why pay for 1&2 twice?

I am currently signed up for 1&2 this month. I can do this now or wait a year or more to be able to afford to go to Maine and be able to take a week off from work and away from home.

Why pay for 1&2 twice?

Because the way Alissa teaches in conjunction with Elaine will be faaaaar and away different than what you'll be getting from one of their teachers. Not to say the teachers aren't good ~ many are EXCELLENT ~ just that you'll be receiving different information, input, feedback.

IMO, get as much knowledge as your can. It's an investment in your future.

I took Alissa's certification in Maine, and I remember there was one woman who had already taken the Level 1 & 2 class, so she had the same training we did but at a discount of about $300-400 less as though she had just registered for Level 3. That means if you did want to take Level 1 & 2 with someone, then do the three together, you would at least receive a discount.

As for the way she does (they do) the combined classes, it really is totally different from the way an individual would do the first two levels. Both would carry different benefits. I took level 1 before I took the 5-day course, and I think there was a great benefit in having done it that way.

Also, I shared a house with 4 other women that was right on the ocean. It was beautiful and because we shared it, the cost came out to $40/night/person. We shared rides every day as well. I and two others had driven, so the two women who flew in got rides from me from the airport and didn't have to worry about a bus or taxi. I do not know of anyone who rode a bus or took a taxi. Total cost for me incl. gas and expenses was about $2600.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me through my link as well. :)
