Is it 'bad' to use loads of fruit in these? I don't mean bad terrible, I mean bad too much fruit sugar! ;)
For example this morning I pretty much filled my Vitamix up with kale and romaine lettuce, pressed it down to make room, then added:
3 small bananas
large (and I do mean large!) handful frozen pineapple
1 mango
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
That's a whole lotta fruit!
But I just can't stomach that amount of greens without lots of fruit to make it palatable (for me anyway). I'm telling myself that it's better to have loads of fruit and get in that amount of greens than not get in so much greens at all. Plus I'm just starting back on raw, so it's great to have something to prepare that's so easy and tasty.
What are everyone else's thoughts? How much fruit do you use in yours?
Boy do I love those smoothies though! :D

I found that in the begining I had to use alot of fruit and then as I drank them more I needed less. Now I do two large handfuls of greens to one handful of fruit in a blender with 2+/- cups of water. Makes 1 blenderful of smoothie. :D You may find your tastes change as time goes on.

I bet all those ingredients made a huge green smoothie didn't it??
My usual smoothies for about 2 litres is:
2-2.5 cups water
4-5 cups spinach or other green
3 frozen bananas
1 papaya or 1 mango
maybe a chunk of frozen coconut
maybe a chunk of someother fruit
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi Bampot. You might want to read a thread from yesterday under the Raw and Living Food Discussion. "Getting Diabetes from Fruit", by Crissy Snow. The comments were very encouraging regarding fruit and they helped to put my mind at ease. This morning I made a smoothie with cucumber, lemon, banana, celery, apple. No I wasn't crazy about it so to the second half of it which I had saved for later I added carrot, pineapple and cinnamon (thinking about carrot cake! heehee. And it isn't half bad! Have a good day.
