My mum had a really bad sore throat and thought she was getting laryngitis, and thats bad because when she has a throat infection it always spreads to her chest, and she already has emphesyma so thats really bad.

She bought glycerine, but I told her a study had shown that buckwheat honey was more effective for sore throats than cough mixture. We didn't have any buckwheat but had heather honey which is also dark, so she had some of that but would only have a teaspoon.
So I made up a mixture for her and she managed to drink half of it last night before she went to sleep and by the next morning her throat was completely cured! Yay! Raw Power.

The lemon peel made her feel very nauseous, and the drink didn't taste particularly nice (it wasn't unpleasant but wasn't great) and it didn't work quickly (I've heard of cayenne stopping the pain of a sore throat within an hour) so next time I would change the recipe but this is what she had;

Blend -
Orange Juice (2 peeled oranges)
Kiwi Juice (1 kiwi with peel)
Lemon Juice (1/2 lemon with peel)
1/3 cup raw cider vinegar
1/3 cup raw honey
1/3 cup solid coconut oil
1 clove garlic
1 punnet raspberries

She only drank half of that.

Next time I would do:

Cider Vinegar
Honey
Coconut Oil
Garlic
Ginger
Cayenne
Cloves
Cacao (if there's a cough, otherwise not)

Lemon Juice without Peel
Less Orange and Kiwi Juice
Apple Juice or banana (to sweeten)
Raspberries if there's no cacao.

My mum had a chest infection with bad cough. I was out of raw honey and raw coconut oil so I didn't make the mixture. After 2 days it had become a lot worse and the coughing was constant, so I decided to make it with conventional honey.
I used the purest one I could find though - fairtrade and organic, taken from wild bees in Africa. Local people put up hives, wild bees inhabit them. The people go back a couple of years later and take half of the honey, leaving half for the bees. So it suits my vegan principles as well as ethical for humans, and its cold-pressed so almost raw. (apparantly coldpressed still isnt really raw).

Anyway I made this -
Juice of 2 oranges, 1 lemon (without peel), and 1 kiwi (with peel)
(in the juicer to get the white stuff as well as the juice)
blended with
1/3 cup conventional coconut oil,
1/3 cup honey,
1/3 cup raw cider vinegar
1 clove garlic
equal amount of ginger
2 cloves
pinch cayenne pepper
1 tbs raw cacao (for coughing)
150g raspberries

This time she liked the taste and drank a whole glassful in one go. Which stopped her coughing and snuffling very very quickly. It was miraculous!
