Hello everyone.I am very new to raw foods and found Alissa's website by searching for a new and better than all the other crappy diets that are out there right now way to lose weight.A picture of a lady who has lost over 100 lbs in like 6 months caught my eye and I just kept on reading and from then on I was hooked.I've been researching the raw food diet since November of last year.I told myself that I couldn't commit to it until after the holidays because there was no way I was going to give up my Thanksgiving feast. And even though everything I made was really great and everyone loved it,that turkey didn't taste as good to me anymore.I wished I was already eating raw. Then Christmas came and I overdid it like usual, especially with chocolate and other sweets and I really hated myself.Again I wished I could just eat raw and get healthy already. So I bought Alissa's book and DVD.I've read it twice and love it.The recipes are wonderful and I know I'll be able to make them. Then I started buying all kinds of raw nuts and seeds, then a dehydrator, a food processor and a Saladacco.I already have a blender and a juicer although they are old and not as good as a Vitamix which I can't afford right now.I do have a Magic Bullet which is pretty good.I've been using that to make some moothies and sauces although until now I used Splenda in my smoothies and cheese and melted butter in my sauces. That will all stop. Today I dumped all the white flour and white sugar in the garbage from my cabinets.I was reading the label on a bottle of marinara sauce that I used to love and the first ingredient was tomato sauce, then high fructose corn syrup. So I stopped right there and threw that one out too.Tomorrow I am going to go through the whole kitchen and dump everything that's not going to be a part of my raw food diet.I will box up the pots and pans and give them to a coworker who is moving to a new apartment.I will not be cooking anymore.I am divorced with no children and I live alone so I don't have to worry about cooking for anyone else.
I have to do this.I must do this.I have so many health problems because I'm so fat.I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, chest pains, frequent dizziness, high cholesterol, bad knees, herniated disc in my lower back, skin rashes, headaches, depression, frequent and severe colds, acid reflux and a whole bunch of other ailments.I am nauseated every day when I get up and I also have no energy whatsoever.I huff and puff every time I have to take down the garbage.I live in an apartment on the second floor.
I am all puffy and bloated,I look like my grandmother and I'm only 46.I want to be healthy and trim and I want that glow everyone is talking about!
So I am going to do it.Tomorrow I will set aside at least 1-2 hours to plan my menu for the next week and then in the next couple of days I will go to the Whole Foods Market and buy the ingredients needed.Starting Monday, January 14 I will go 100% raw.God help me I will do it!
Wish me luck.

Welcome, welcome Evike! I will so look forward to reading your posts on this board. You will love it here. Everyone is so encouraging and quick to help when you need it. Why not blog everyday too? I am also new here. I went 100% Raw for the first 3 wks. in Dec/07 and then caved when we had company over the holidays. This morning I went back to Raw green fruit and veggie smoothies and feel so much better already. I had missed that feeling of health which you will get within a matter of days, I'm sure. You sound determined. All the best to you.

Hi Evike! Welcome to our humble abode! It sounds like you have the will, and that's the most important thing....that you WANT to do this! I guess my best piece of (unsolicited ;) ) advice is, to take it one day at a time......you'll hear this numerous times, but this is a journey, and the most important one of your life! Things will pop up, there may be bumps in the road, but YOU are the most important factor in this equation, so make sure to do what you feel is right for you! I can't wait to hear how your journey goes!

Thank you so much for the welcome and encouragement everyone.I did go to the store today and bought lots of organic fruits, kale, swiss chard,3 different kinds of sprouts,a huge bag of organic salad mix, some other ingredients.I had a monster salad for dinner with lots of sprouts.I am very confident about this.
