I have read over and over about green smoothies. I mean, really green smoothies. I just felt I needed lots of sweets to get them down. Well, I got adventurous today and made:

1 cucumber
handful of spinach
1 lime
1 orange
1 grapefruit

I juiced the fruits first and then threw it all in the Vitamix.
Very GREEN--but very clean feeling. I'm hooked.

So, the moral is: Don't be afraid to experiment. Start small so you don't waste ingredients and adjust till you find what you like. I may go back to bananas tomorrow, but for today I learned that I can enjoy the variety and be bold and have fun with my food!!

I agree...though my first time...I ended up with sludge. had no idea how to make them...so juiced, then mixed with the leftovers in the blender. Wise to experiment WITH a recipe.

Today's recipe was like yours, but instead of citrus, we used pineapple and banana...and some strawberries since my daughter was complaining about how green it was.:D

blueberries are great if you want to hide the green colour as it makes it a delicous inviting purple - mmmm.

congrats on your experiment - I've not tried using citus fruits in a green smoothie before - must try that too :)

I love experimentating with smoothies..

2day I had

2 handfuls of sprouts,
1 handful of spinach,
1 cucumber,
1 beetroot,
2 bananas,
4 oranges
and a kiwi..

While pourring in my drink I drip honey it to the glass.. yum yum
