I've been raw in varying degrees for two years now. My DH has always been very supportive and loving thru it all but has never joined me in a high raw eating style. He has always been an avid junk food, SAD eater. Slowly he is making changes on his own and really surprising me...being more open to trying things. His newest change is that he has given up sugar....a big deal to him!!! And is using stevia instead. This afternoon I was eating a dish of avo/cacao pudding and asked him if he wanted to try some (he did a year or so ago and hated it)...he tasted it and said...yup...exactly like regular chocolate pudding!!! It blew me away that his tastes and attitude had evolved so much under his own steam!!:D

Hey...I will take the changes he is willing to make, smile and encourage him.

I am left believing that we really do influence so much more by example than by anything we say. So...when you think there isn't a snowballs chance in hades of your significant other ever making those kinds of changes just have faith...you never know what might happen~

thankyou for this post. i hope with all my heart my husband joins me in at least eating mostly raw. he's still stuck on the atkins thing. the other day he was actually eating an apple...which was basically as off limits to him as mcdonalds is for me. it was so nice to see.
it's hard to have patience sometimes, especially when your spouse has had serious life threatening illnesses. i see the state of total ill health his father is in and pray with all my heart that he gets on the healthy path sooner than later.
but i have no power. at least not verbal. like you say, just lead by example.

I hope to change some lives by going raw. My friends disagree with it they say I need meat to hold good bacteria in my intestines. I can't believe what I was hearing from them as if raw is bad. But I hope to change that with my actions instead of just saying it. And maybe someday when I get married I am prepared to marry a vegan lol. Or change my hubby's life if he ever wanted to go raw.
So thanks for your post it inspires people to change.

I married a man who not only survived on McDonald's and Burger King but who also raised market hogs before we met. :(

Since we started dating, he has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced his meat intake. However, the most shocking change to me is that he's been drinking green smoothies. As a matter of fact, he asked if I was going to make a batch this morning. He loves them.

I'm hoping to have the same influence on my co-workers who cannot fathom why I eat raw. :)

I just wanted to shout out and say how proud I am of those who persist in quiet and happy example - while allowing and supporting their spouses and children!

:D Positive change is an amazingly powerful force. MY DH had melanoma6 years ago...full lymph node dissection, a year of interferon shots, (that I had to give him). He quit smoking after 40 something years of being addicted but still ate a ton of crap. He still does but a lot less of it and the seeds of change are planted and tended daily~:D
He stopped using anti-persperant and is using a deodorant crystal and has initiated other small changes on his own. It may not seem very drastic but it is self motivated and I believe just the beginning steps toward a healthier lifestyle. I am very proud of him and his willingness to look at his life in a different light and to see that what he does do impacts his health. So many never get that at all.
So...wishing you all faith and patience. Everyone works toward things in their own way and time.

I don't even think my husband realizes that he is nearly all raw. Every morning he eats 1/2 cup of raw walnuts with 1 cup of frozen blueberries. for lunch he usually has an organic apple. Then for dinner it is a huge raw salad with his organic pastured meat of choice and sometimes some organic brown rice with mushroom, onion and Braggs. I never even really realized this myself until reading this thread:p Alot has changed around here foodwise since I have become raw:D
