I am a kid (I'm under 15 but older than 10 :)) and am thinking of going raw on June 1st. I am going to take it slow though; for a week I will eat NO MEAT, then for a week no sweets, then for a week no grains etc.
I have a few questions. :confused: What was the hardest thing for you to quit? and Do you know any EASY TO MAKE raw recepies that an 11 year old could make? My mom has a dehydorater (sp.?)
{I was inspired by Shazzie :)}

HEY, its great to hear that someone as young as you is looking into raw !!!!!
tip # 1 would be COLORS!!!!! They have phyto nutrients and are great for cleansing ,the richer the better :)
like red (strawberries,tomatos,razberries,watermelon,apples ect...);
PURPLE (VERY GOOD FOR YOU) from blueberries,dark grapes,blach berries,beet juice, cabbage
green - apples,leafy greens,cucumbers,green grapes ,melons
orange-oranges,carrots,cantalope,nectarines,peaches,mango s,yams and sweet potatoes
yellow/white - squash ,bananas,cauliflower,jicama, turnips,corn,rutabegas (this group isnt as important as the ones above)

Soda was hard for me to give up ,if you "search" you will find a raw version of soda that I created ..........
you might be a "sweets" girl ,so how about raw "sweets" you can find a lot of raw sweet recipes as well
Do you have a blender or food processor?if not I strongly recomend a food processor!
w/ ONLY a dehydrator you could make dreid fruits , zucchinni chips (slice and dehy. less than 114 until crispy) ......I recomend you go to http://www.fromsadtoraw.com
and get a recipe book ,alissa's is GREAT .rawpreistess has some awesome ones ,or if you go to your local bookstore they will probably have julianos RAW ....just to name a few
Also if you feel 100% raw is too much ,you CAN do 75-95 by adding steamed veggies ,sprouted bread and cereals ,miso and anything organic and not refined .It would be a good transition ,ya know? But if your like me and go all the way try fruits and salads (those are VERY easy to get and "prepare" )
you might want to talk with your parents ,come up with a budget and a list of ingredients and meals . You should always have quick tasty HEALTHY/RAW food on hand for cravings.....maybe you could get your parents in on it too ,at least a little :p
Best of wishes on your new quest!!!!!
btw ,love your avatar!!!!!

My mom does not want me to talk on this raw site because some people might post bad messages -- does any of you know a raw chatting site for kids or Christians? Please reply!!!

Strawberry Girl, if your mom is concerned about inappropriate material here you can ask her to check out the forum. The vast majority of people here are kind and considerate, and we don't talk about "adult" stuff very often. If you avoid the OffTopic section I think your mom might be okay with your participation here. Of course she is welcome to post as well!
Easy to make recipes [off the top of my head, for many of these you need a food processor]: fruit leathers, smoothies, lettuce/ cabbage wraps [put sandwich toppings in a leaf and roll it up like a wrap or burrito, you can make "refried beans" with sunflower seeds], fruit salad, "sushi" [veggie toppings in a nori seaweed wrap], banana ice cream, raw cookie dough, bananas drizzled with almond butter and honey. You can find most of the recipes for these items in the Recipe section from the Home page, and get ideas from there too. You may also find some in the Raising Raw Kids section.

Hi Strawberrygirl,
I posted a couple of places for you in the "Help" thread you started in the Raw Kids forum.
But I agree with having mom check out this forum. We really don't get bad posts here. Every once in a blue moon, someone may post profanity, but when I catch it, I edit it out...and it doesn't happen often at all. We're an overall very friendly board here. Many of us are Christian, but some are not - either way, we all respect one another here and we don't do a lot of arguing and fighting here like on some of the other raw food boards.
So, you can check out the links I provided for you (one is for young people and the other for Christians - both raw food-based) or you can have your mom check this site out to see for herself or you can do both! :)
Congrats on wanting to be raw at such a young age! I have a daughter who is 12 and she's pretty much raw...maybe you two can email each other sometime.
Also, if you haven't already, ask mom to get the book, "Eating Without Heating" which was written by Valya and Sergei Boutenko and they're raw kids/teens and their book has lot's of fun and tasty raw recipes and their story of how and why they went raw!

I agree ,were a VERY supportive group ,the "raw and living food discussion " ,"juicing and sprouting" ,"raw recipes" , "exercise and fitness" and "raising raw kids" sections wouldnt have any questionable material in it.......

If you go to www.rawchristians.org they have message boards, but like others have said, this forum is great - very supportive and many of us are Christians. I would stay away from www.living-foods.com because that site does have a lot of adult material.
Good luck! I'm proud of you for starting so young!!!

Hi StrawberryGirl,
I make this all the time.
My husband likes it too.
So, I bet you will like it.
Mix some soaked (they taste better if soaked) then dehydrated (so they're crunchy) walnuts and raisins with some raw almond butter and eat it by the spoonful alternately with a juicy apple.
Good luck.
