...okay...so what's the scoop with peanuts? I'm just wondering why I don't see recipes for raw peanut butter...or peanuts as snacks etc.....I'm guessing they aren't good for you, but I am wondering why...........

Hmmm....well, here's a link I found about peanut mold peanuts (http://www.deanesmay.com/archives/007598.html). I think the general consensus is that there aren't really "raw" peanuts.....they're all heated to some degree to try to kill the naturally occurring mold in them. I believe that's why they're not included in the 100% raw diet. If I'm wrong, by all means, someone correct me.....but other than the reasons mentioned, I can't see why they would be omitted.

The aflatoxin/mold is why peanuts are unhealthy (even when raw and organic), but there is one type of peanut without this problem: wild jungle peanuts. They are the only non-cancer-causing peanuts found to date.
I have one peanut coconut noodle recipe that requires raw peanuts, but they do not mention the wild jungle peanuts specifically, so I assume the author/chef is unaware of the dangers of most peanuts.
