What do you guys eat when you're hit with a carb craving? I got one earlier while I was at work so was very limited, ended up getting chips (fries to those in the US) from the store next door to where I work. I had food with me and had eaten, but this carb craving came from nowhere :(

I love grapes....and oranges...
my green juice helps as well.
May venture into green smoothies. My first was a disaster...I didn't know you were supposed to put fruit in it. Mine came out like green sludge.
In fact, we went to ikea on Tuesday and the green juice and grapes were what saved me from "caving" to the smells of the ikea cafe--I ended up only getting a veggie wrap and couldn't even eat the tortilla. Before drinking my stash of juice and eating my grapes...I was ready to get the meatballs and a HUGE dessert. But was fine after the juice and grapes.

we never know what's gunna sneak up on us!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/character0233.gif ... only way is to be prepared - take a variety of things with you - from flax crackers to trail mixes - fresh fruit -- so you have a variety of things. I've read that some rawbies always make sure to pack some green smoothies to work w them - if you don't have a work fridge - one gal used to carry a small cooler with her - the 'lunch pail' kind.
No worries though --- its a journey - we just keep on moving forward... doin the best we can!

This helped me out with explaining my cravings: http://www.naturopathyworks.com/pages/cravings.php
I get nasty carb cravings sometimes, and salads usually seem to help me. A salad is the last thing I mentally want at the time, but I usually feel satisfied after eating one.

Thanx guys, very helpful :D
Great link too :D
I had two types of broccoli, cauliflower, rocket, mixed baby leafy greens, mushrooms, cucumber with me, as well as bananas, apples and oranges - I'd not long eaten a plate full of lovely leafy greens, but then got this craving and it wasn't nice. Maybe part of it is that I needed to be stricter with myself too?

Whenever I really want a heavy carb I make myself raw pancakes. It's heavy with flax, sweet with coconut oil and agave...add a fruit and viola! Major carb recovery system. :D
I also love to throw a bunch of nuts and seeds with some mixed dried fruits in a bag...raw trail mix to go! (I add a dash of sea salt to this to get the whole sweet-n-salty thing going.)
I love to grab a few raw bars from our local healthfood store also. They are perfect when I'm on the go and I've gone too long without eating. They slide right in my purse.
Hope you find something for your next time...and whatever you do...think raw! ;)
thank you, very helpful strand, and link.
My cravings are usually for bread, and through trial and error I've found that nuts satisfy them -- very interested to find that this is what is recommended in the link, too!
For french fry cravings, I find avocado brilliant.
For sweet cravings, any sweet fruit, especailly very sweet oranges.
