Wondering how bad the hunger is when breaking the fast and how hard it is to keep the weight off?

My own experience If I am fasting on nothing.. literally barely any substance like water or lemon water or something light I will gain the weight right back once I start eating. I do get hungry I won't lie to you. I find fasting with substance like smoothies really does well and I don't gain back all the weight and then some probably because it's still like feeding my body and I am not so hungry where I want to binge on anything I see.
Each time I've fasted so far I've felt remarkable in the experience... then had either non-raw food or lots of nuts within 24 hours so that I feel like absolute poo. I just know if I practiced by doing it regularly (not for weight loss, though)... it might be better. I just need to develop more self discipline.
But yeah, because of my behavior I've lost and then gained a little tummy bulge each time. And I end up constipated (which NEVER happens to me) right after.

I am only on my second fast. The last one was 3 days in duration. I made it to 68 hours I believe it was and caved. For me, it was not so much hunger. It was the thought of food. I did not feel hungry, but I still craved, if that makes sense. I also noticed at first that I really did not feel any different. I did mine for spiritual reasons so that I could get some questions answered. I did not get my reply until the day after. So you may not notice anything at first, but trust me you will. I have many reasons for doing this fast. I am getting ready to move to California in March and want to start making changes now. Not only physically, but spiritually as well. Let me k now if I can be of help to you.

Oh no, this worries me. I am coming to the end of my fast, I think I will end between the 21st and 25th. I DO NOT want to gain back a ton of weight, that would suck.

I fasted in november for 22 days. I lost 12 pounds. Since then I have lost an additional 7 pounds by eating all the raw foods I want! I must say I do not eat a lot of gourmet raw. Mostly fresh fruits and vegetables and some nuts and avocado. Over the holidays I indulged in many raw, nut-heavy deserts and lost another 2 pounds! If you make wise decisions and STAY RAW, you won't gain the weight back. Just don't go crazy. I did not eat fats for a week after my fast just to take it easy on my body. Today I broke an 8 day fast with some fruit... but then my bf took me to a raw food cafe and I couldn't resist all those amazing treats! So, we shall see what happens here :)

Good to know about not really eating fats the first week back to solids. I am getting so nervous. I am planning on doing my juice fast until the 23rd ish but lately I've been just so wanting to eat. I dont want to over do it when I go back to food, especially with nuts, since I had issues with eating too many prior to this fast.
And I am even more perplexed because like every recipe requires nuts and I keep asking for alternatives and making things like crackers with out nuts and I dont get much feedback:/

flaxseed crackers are the bomb, and they have no nuts in them. Just seeds.

...also crackers made with sprouted grains or sprouted/dehydrated/ground {my fav.} are good...they are becoming a staple around at my house!:D

Tuesday night I had broke my 15 day juice fast and boy am I paying for it. I kinda just jumped into solids again and ever since I ate solid food I have been fatigue, weighed down and feel like s***. I woke up this morning and felt like I was going to throw up so I didnt go to work. I slept til 11 and attempted a Salt water flush. I am not having the same reaction with it as I had when I was on the juice fast, meaning I have not gone to the bathroom yet, which worries me. I dont know what to do. I am only going to have smoothies for the rest of the week but this is terrible. I've already gained a pot belly back and I just am miserable. What should I do?

I wanted to see if you are feeling better? One thing to keep in mind is that we have been putting SAD into our bodies for so many years. Your body has to get rid of all that garbage in your system. I sure hope that you are doing well.

It's okay, solong, this too shall past. I have done quite a few juice fasts and usually end up binging after its over, just because I have an insatiable hunger. If it's any consolation breaking the fast is THE HARDEST thing about fasting. Don't stress. Just realize that you went 15 days without solid food, and that is an amazing accomplishment. Well done! Don't be hard on yourself right now...just be gentle. I recommend nibbling more then eating for a few days. Go slow and take care.

i always do a colon cleansing with cleansesmart when i break a fast/feast - i also make sure i'm drinking smoothies for breakfast and lunch for the week after the fast (although i do that now as a regular part of my life)... and raw for dinner.
it's the after dinner which is hard after a fast/feast, for me. so i make sure i have a lot of fruit available for myself and just keep eating fruit and fruit salads like crazy.
of course, i'm not perfect... this is the hardest part of fasting/feasting for me... it's a process.
my hunger has usually been intense after a fast. after this fast, I'm thinking about decreasing my solid intake for much longer than I did with the previous fast. I'll see if that works out for me. :D
