Hello everyone! My Vita-Mix has started making a strange, whistling type sound. It is especially noticable at speeds 8 through 10. Of course, my warranty just expired (about a month ago!).

I'm trying to decide what to do. I don't know if I should spend the $100+ to have Vita-Mix service it or just get a new one. I thought maybe somebody here has been in a similar situation and has some good input.

I really love my Vita-Mix!! I'm very possessive of it and I don't even like it when someone else touches it. I do let my husband touch it, but I don't like it...

Thanks so much,

Jenifer

I would call the company and tell them what's happening and ask them could it be the gears.
It's worth it to have it looked at:) my husband paid $450.00 for mine and one of the jars, the wet one no longer works and i have to replace it.
I know how you feel, they cost so much and you love yours as i do mine:)
Try to get it fixed or like me look on e-bay and see what they have after you call the company.

Call the Vita Mix company, the phone # is in the manuel you get with your machine. I've called them two or three times now and they new exactly over the phone what it was. They've had me tell them about the sound and turn it on so they can hear it etc. I have found them to be very helpful and have felt that they have bent over backwards to help me. Good Luck!! Judith

Thank you both for responding! It turns out that it is the container, or I should say the blades. My dry container is OK. Since I never use it anymore, I didn't even think to check the containers.

Your advice was very helpful and very much appreciated!!
