Hi.
Has anyone experienced rough fingernail ridges?

Also I have some sort of an infection up near the cuticle area of the nail bed on one finger?

Any suggestions?

I have never had anything like this before and no I haven't had a professional manicure in at least 6 months.

Thanks.

I've always had these... never really questioned it.
I'd also be curious if anyone had any ideas.

The ridges have come and gone over the years. But I've never had this weird infection. (???)

yes I have ridges too. I remember reading about nail deformities ( for lack of a better word ) and how it means there might be something lacking in the diet. But it was soooooo long ago I read this I cannot recall where.

According to Ohashi's book "reading the body" grooves on the nail are a sign of malnutrition or poor digestion. Vertical lines mean liver problems. He also says "waste that cannot be eliminated in the normal ways is channeled into the fingers, where it creates a variety of problems including sores, ingrown nails, hangnails, infection and arthritis." So that is what Ohashi says. :)

I have a few nails with vertical ridges and mine are from cuticle damage...slamming a finger in the door, slamming my fingers between weights in the gym.
