Hi folks=)
I don't post here often but I do read everyday. Now I have an issue and need some positive imput=)
I have been raw over 3 months, with no real problems or on/off behavior. I am really pleased with the lifestyle and have no craving to go back to Sad. INitially, the weight just fell off, with no watching what I ate- it felt so organic, and it was a relief to stop fighting with my food, as I like to say=)
Now, the past 3-4 weeks I have not lost a pound. I did indulge a bit over Christmas with nuts/cacoa( all raw), but I have been back on lots o greens and simple food for days. Now suddendly I am sick! I have swollen glands and feel like I swallowed a frog=( Am I detoxing? It's weird because I stll have energy but I feel yech. Plus the weight is just hanging on- and believe me, I have a good 50 more to go=)
I know, patience....I eat well, typically 1 or 2 green juices a day (no GS yet, as my blender is a cheapo and I hate chunky drinks, but I got a champion for Xmas and we are using it everyday for kale/apple/cucumber/pasley/ etc juice), a huge salad, I get my flax oil/omegas in, take chorella, etc. I don't think its the food, but some sort of transition- whatchayall think? :o
Wow, congrats on staying raw for 3 months! Sickness sounds like detox to me, but I'm no expert. Have you tried adding some exercise? Maybe rebounding would help with the detox and weight loss?

I really do want to get a rebounder, but for now I have been walking almost everyday outside- and I have been doing that for a year now pretty regularly.
I don't think my metabolism is dropping- my new found raw energy is still pretty high.
side note- I just made myself drink a GS, chunks n all- it had lots of pineapple in it so it was ok=) I am determined to get over what ever this is fast!

It's definitely detox of some sort and may be the answer to your weightloss dilemma. I know every time I come out the other side of a detox there is a release of weight afterwards. Good luck with your cleansing!

Also I've heard people say that your body can lose weight then it may pause for a bit, this is just your body stabilising, making sure you're not dying of starvation or anything like that, then once it realises you are fine you'll release more weight. Best of luck with your journey:)

that's good to know! I went thru the same thing -- fairly plateaued for months now.... I feel something shifting though - I can't really describe it - but I'm feelin it... kinda like little bubbles waking up inside me ---- pop * pop* pop* !!! Happy bubbles - and that's a wrong way to describe it - ya'll think I'm full of gas!!
I'm feeling fresh, clean inside -- like somethings about to be cleaned out - cleared out... and the weight will begin releasing again... (until then -- I'm not shifting from the raw foods ... cuz what ever is goin on inside there needs to happen so that I can continue to allow my deepest true self to emerge!)
Keep drinkin the water.. keep going forward with the GS and the raw foods!!
rawk on....

Wow, we must be going through the same process, because I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I've been raw about two and a half months now, I just recently felt like I started gaining weight back, and this morning I woke up with a nasty cold. I hope we both find good results after this passes!

Your body reaches plateaus in both weight loss from eating and effectiveness of exercise. Once your body is used to walking a certain amount every day it becomes less of a workout. Try stepping it up a bit or going uphill or pumping your arms as you walk. This may be enough to revive your workout.
As for the food. This is an old wives tale I know, but I have found it worked for me. GRAPEFRUIT. In the past when I hit a plateau, I ate more grapefruit. Not only is it amazingly delicious, I felt having 2 or 3 of them a day helped me back into fat burning mode.
Just a thought.
Best Wishes
PS I don't know much about detox so I am mum on that part. =)

Yes! pineapple!!
Do you have a colonic yet? That helps A LOT. Many raw foodists recommend at least 6 to 10 sessions when starting and then whenever you feel detoxing. Helps not only your intestines but releives the work of the liver and the other organs as well.

oh good, I eat pineapple about 4 times a week- I adore it=)
I have had 2 colonics so far- they are so expensive, but I have been aiming for one every 45 days or so. I plan on getting another in February.
It's odd how it hurts to touch my neck on one side because its so swollon- and it hurts to turn my head- and I keep having to run to the bathroom to (sorry) poo green poos:D , but otherwise I feel fine, have energy, etc.
I just made some awesome candy , too, for a late Christmas present- homemade almond joy balls. mmmmmmmm

This is so true. I have experienced just what you are describing. The flu typesytoms lasted for THREE weeks in Nov. preceeded by a lack of weight loss. After the detox I had a "WOOSH" of weight loss.
I wasnt worried because I had read about this so was mentally prepared. Dont get blue. It is just part of the process - a great process. It is so amazing to really think what our bodies can do after we abuse it so much!
The first two attempts as raw were frighening because I did not look at the "bad time" in a positve light; that it was all part of my body doing it's thing to heal. So I am now able to channel the plateaus, the headachs, the flu etc with a smile knowing my body is trying extra hard to get rid of something.:)

update=)
Thank you for all the imput you guys! I love this place=):D
My swollen glands/sore throat/mucus went away after 3 days, then I lost 2 pounds. Go figure=) I was eating like an oink oink, too!
I was wondering- I started skin brushing once a day about 10 days ago- think that might have brought on the small detox?
