Has anyone here read this book? I'm thinking of ordering it. It has chapters on how to make various live fermented foods like sauerkraut, kim chee, etc.

I'm wanting to get the friendly bacteria the old fashioned way, without buying capsules of probiotics off the shelf at the market.

Would eating fermented foods be a good replacement for probiotics?

... thanks. :)

I've not heard of this book ~ very cool! I am a huge fan of fermented food for the probiotic qualities. I know that my kombucha has the same list of probiotics in it that the supplements do and they occur naturally. I am really interested in reading what others have to say.....

I am curious about this topic myself. Are these foods uncooked? What about rejuvalac? I keep reading about it. Does it have probiotic qualities?
Also, I recently read a recipe for cashew cheese made with probiotic/acidopholus powder. How about that as a probiotic food?

I actually met someone at a potluck yesterday who ferments his foods. He had quite a bit of sauerkraut,, some mustard he'd made and he was attempting to ferment artichokes. I asked if I could interview him on my show. Of course, the answer would be yes! If you get the book, I'd like to hear more about it as it's something I'm interested in as well, now.

So, I just ordered it!

here is a link to the book and a list of the recipes in it.

*of course, not all of the recipes would be useful to a raw vegan.

hi Snowdrop,

I'm curious, have you had a chance to try out some of the recipes in your copy of the book?
