do you guys peel the outer skin of ginger before you use it? I have been using it in my smoothies on a daily basis, but I peel it. I don't know if I should, just because I have always heard that you want eat the skin of the apple because most of the nutrients are there. So just curious what you all think. Thanks in advance.
I usually put it in juice and don't do anything to it. I hadn't thought about putting it in a smoothie... so I'm curious to hear what others do as well. :)

I always peel it. The skin is pretty dull and dry, so I doubt you lose anything from peeling.

I rarely peel it. The only time I ever peel it is when I make sushi for guests and I include ginger.

I don't peel it. I heard that traditionally it was never peeled. But who knows. I don't waste anytime dealing with it, just grind it up :D

I'm a peeler. Then I usually grate it up into a paste and blend with soy, garlic, honey, chili flakes and sesame seeds for a dipping sauce. YUMMER. Have not used it in a smoothie, sounds interesting & refreshing.

thanks everyone who answered. i'm gonna see if i notice any differences by not peeling it. probably not, i don't really use much of it, it tastes like soap to me if i try to eat it by itself. i'm weird, i know. i've always heard it was to clean the palate (taste buds, mouth, etc. you get the idea) so maybe it's just me and i associate that with tasting like soap. . well thanks again, i'll let you guys know if i see or feel a difference.

I never peel ginger. I just throw it into the blender when I make my smoothies and that's it.

I usually peel it for recipes, but when I add it to juice, I jst throw it in as is. I also have never tried it in a smoothie, but I certainly will now! :)
