Anyone else watch this show? There seems to be a marathon on TV today of it~
(As well as numerous other weight loss shows!)
She promotes high RAW, & seems to really know her stuff! She's tough, british, like a mean Mary Poppins, but, she really does get through to people, in an abrubt way!
She even examines {& critiques!!!} their poo's!!! (& they show them, while explaining WHY they're not good, & what the idea poop is!)
If you get a chance, check it out! Be prepared to laugh! (& maybe gag!)

she doesnt even promote vegan, all she does is promote a balanced diet but it doesnt matter what the source of the vitamins and minerals is..

Actually, I've heard her say many things promoting raw foods as much as possible...
...she uses raw recipes, tells them the importance of raw vs. cooked (not on every show, mind you, but on 2 of the 3 I've seen today, & on lots of other ones I've seen)...
...she uses detox methods, seaweeds, sprouting, juicing, smoothies, & is very pro-organic...she's also very anti meat/dairy, & was just promoting rice & almond milk as a substitute today, as well as acknowledging to a guy who lives on meat how little protein he actually requires, compared to what he's getting, & explained clearly (with a gross, vivid demo) what too much protein does to the bones, etc. She was quite anti-meat!
...I heard her say once that she knows 100% raw is too difficult for most folks, so she 'allows' certain cooked things...{mostly quinoa, rice, & broths...made brussel sprout broth today, for the high sulpher content that her clients were deficient in...}..I wonder what percentage of raw she is...I know it's quite high, based on what she's said previously...
...anyways, most 'health' & 'weight loss' shows never even mention raw, or it's benefits, so I find her really inspiring, & informative...
...just learned today that ginger is really high in magnesium...
...I admit she does seem to have a bit of a poo fixation...:o & I cannot watch the colonics, ever again!
One guy just blurted out, with a (sorry for this) cheeky grin, "Well it wasn't too bad, kinda like someone has a finger up your butt!"

Yeah baby, I just found the marathon too and thought of you A. and wanted to let you know I'll be joining you on Tuesdays. The show I see though, is at least two hours, not just an hour.
Might as well get started now with some gentle stretching, maybe luffa or skin brushing to remove toxins.
Till later ...

Yay, Alyssa Rose, that's great! I thought of taping the "U R what U eat" shows, but can barely stomach watching them ONCE, let alone again! But I may anyways, to send to my sis & her sweet chubby hubby! (Whom I love dearly, & want to see both of them healthy!)
Sorry you don't get the channel, Amanda...it's on the "W" channel here, (for women, I think...)
They usually replay it all again later in the day, so I'm goona go clear up a tape...
...the "Brookhaven Clinic" show for the very morbidly obese was just on, it's soooo sad how they tell people the only answer is the weight loss surgery...they lost 50, 100, even more pounds to qualify to get the surgery, but then let the Dr's hack into their body & alter it permanently!
One day, when my obesity is resolved & gone, I'm going to find a way to reach those without hope to let them know surgery is NOT the best way! & that RAW IS!!!
Maybe I'll write a little flyer, with before & afters in it, & the best websites to learn more...this one being at the top of the list, of course!

There seems to be an abundance of them today! Likely all week! Gotta go check & see if O & Dr. P are covering it again this year, too!
The shows are so inspiring to me, so motivating...
...my daughter & I just watched a show where a woman basically behaved like an anorexic to get down to a size 0 to expose what it does to your body, & she spoke to kids with eating disorders, & they showed how it affected her medically...it was really eye-opening to my daughter, especially seeing the models with their bones sticking out, & hearing of their deaths from anorexia, all for vanity's sake...really helped her gain some perspective on what hollywood portrays as normal...she knew of it's dangers, etc., but to see someone go through the process was quite shocking.
The Brookhaven one is quite intense for me to watch, if I continue on the path I was on, I'd be there (where their patients are!) in another 50-75 lbs or so...I've already lost much mobility, turning over is hard, you DON'T wanna watch me try to get up off the floor...but I still fit in my tub! *grin*

I used to buy her living foods bars but I asked them if they were raw and I was told that the oats were heated. I asked to what temp and they did not reply. That finished me with her products.
Her credintials have also been questioned but I think that if she can improve peoples diet then, great.

i just got more channels on our cable and bbc america is one of the ones that i love. i love watching you are what you eat. she has a lot of good tidbits about the different minerals and such that's in different foods. it's really disgusting seeing all the food the people eat in a week laid out on the table before they get started. it's sad how little color there is. pretty much all the food is brown and just looks dead.
speaking of the minerals and such, does anyone know where i can find a resource about what minerals are in foods and what foods are good for what? i searched a little online but didnt find what i was looking for.

I didn't think she promoted high raw--I just thought it was alkaline...
Folks get passes to eat meat and fish...and they've been roasting some veggies.
Anyway--I love her show!
Now if only my hubby--who introduced me to it...would just heed some of the advice.:(

She is great---but if you google her show...you will see that she promotes a well balanced healthy diet...
Many of her staple items (those chickpea burgers!) are cooked....
And she allows cooked veg--just tells them not to cook it too much to kill it. :D

Ha, that's funny! I guess I have selective hearing! I have heard her promoting Raw, but yea, I see the other stuff, I just focus on the raw & the other good stuff, I guess!
I'll google her tomorrow when I'm awake...yep, I'm typin' in my sleep!
(trying to stay awake til biggest Loser is over!
& yes, I taped it so I can do my extra workout during watching it tomorrow, as I committed to do...just can't even stand up at the present moment...)

I have seen it, last week actually was the first time. I watched the one where the two boys were pouring the sugar into the bowl, so she could see how much sugar they were consuming in a week. It was gross, the poopy thing was gross. I am not sure I would like the whole tough love thing... I am a blunt person, but she is on a whole nother level!
If it works for some though, that is great!

I love her show "You are what you eat" and LOVE IT! This Scottish food cop is bruttaly honest. She has a new book our called "Slim for Life" that I just picked up at B&N. It's her 28 day plan. My 12 year old son has been watching it and it has affected his thoughts on food.
I have yet to see the one where she move in!!
Her website is great too.
Have you seen the two cleaning ladies on "How Clean is Your House"!! It's on the same channel.

I have just recently discovered this "You are what you eat" show with this Gillian person and that show kills me! Really, from seeing exactly what they have been eating... those people should be bigger! But, I must be one of those people she is trying to get to because it is working. Maybe it's subliminal but in the past week we have conciously consumed maybe four times the amount of raw food that we normally eat! I do think she is a bit foreward in her methods but not mean. These people have been eating themselves towards their graves for years and years, they really do need a wakeup call, even a scary one, in order to get the motivation they are going to need to WANT to feel better. It can be a long and hard haul trying to change your ingrained eating habits and this Gillian is using methods to break through the learned patterns and make new ones. I'm all for her show, I'm learning from it too! :)

I love Gillian. I haven't seen the episodes where she moves in, I'll have to look for them. My favorite episode is the one with the priest, there are just so many cute puns in that episode (Example: "On my eating plan, there is no fruit forbidden to you") and the priest is so nice!
I'm no longer grossed out by the talk about the poos and colonics, I've gotten used to it.
I think that the most common thing between all the episodes is that when they lay out the food tables, the bad food that the people have been eating is always different shades of brown, and then the table with Gillian's food looks like a harvest festival display.

Yea, the one with the priest was great!!!:D
& when I first started watching, seeing all that SAD, dead food would trigger cravings in me, make me WANT what I was seeing!!!
But NOW, it totally grosses me out, I equate it with their poor health condition, & LOVE the cornicopia of yummy food God made!!!
Saw a great (but SAD!) episode yesterday, she did a make-up 'makeover' on this woman, & when she went to look in the mirror, cried & was soooo upset, but SAW what her face will look like after 10 more years of drinking as much as she was! (Broken blood vessels everywhere, blotchy, red, liver spots!)
THEN she was ready to stop drinking!!!
Sometimes we NEED to be shocked back to reality!
{Like seeing pics/vids of ourselves, not realizing quite how big we've gotten!}
Though I could do without seeing the actually pic snouts, ears, & lips when she shows people what's in hotdogs & sausage!!! I always have to turn away & fight the urge to puke!!!
Wish I had one of her laminated poo charts though! I gotta go find & check out her website...anyone got the link?
