I am a 125lb woman, 5 foot 8 inches. I am very slim but what excess fat i DO have seems to be centered right around my middle(leftovers from 3 pregnancies). I workout with weights and do cardio 5x a week but i want to try tweaking what i eat to see if i can just lose abit of this mummy tummy. I know everyone is different but where would each of you start? Cutting out fats first? or just try to keep it all balanced and cut down on portions?. I would appreciate any advice...

Do you do any type of ab workout?

General core work to tighten up any loose muscles (which you may well have after three kids), but you may want to focus on losing fat all over too.

Ab workouts are great for strengthening the abdominals but will do nothing to get rid of the layer of fat on top. That is only acheived by proper nutrition and aerobic exercise.

That is the way I went from a 36" waist to 31". (I am a 50 year old male.) By proper nutrition I mean an abundance of fresh, raw fruit, leafy greens and a small amount of raw nuts and seeds. If your are eating things like avocados, nuts, coconut butter, young coconuts, etc daily, then you are consuming far too much fat. Consider 1/2 an avacodo or 2 oz of raw nuts daily and make the rest of your calories fresh fruit and leafy greens. I enjoy green smoothies and fruit smoothies daily and find they fill me up and give me lots of energy.

Read the 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Doug Graham. It all makes sense after reading that book and your life and health will achieve a new balance.

Good luck!

I have a similar problem (slim everywhere but my middle) and I've found that 8 minute abs works really well. I'm assuming by your height and weight that you probably have a little but not much fat around your waist, so tightening the muscles probably will make a difference.

Here's an example of 8 min. abs although the quality is kind of bad..: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWxM995gDDA&feature=related
