I've never heard anyone promote sesame oil, but I've never heard anyone say to avoid it either. So I don't think sesame oil is rather healthy, but should it be described as unhealthy? I would love to eat sesame oil with asian salad dressing, but I don't want to if it's not healthy.

I know that I love it on my skin mixed with an essential oil....silky!!! Most of the research that I have found online focuses on the seeds and leaves. I believe they are a good source of calcium. I'm not sure about the oil itself (as far as consuming large amounts..)

Here's an article for example:

I think that a lot of sesame oil uses toasted seeds; I don't know though....

there are a couple companies that make what appears to be "raw" sesame oil. rapunzel brand makes a cold pressed sesame oil that i believe the bottle says is cold pressed below a hundred degrees. check the bottle though. ive gotten 2 different brands at whole foods that both say they are pressed below a hundred. "raw" ie cold pressed unrefined untoasted sesame oil will taste very mild if you are used to the toasted kind though--
