Hi,

I am hightly allergic to soy. Because of this I can't use the Bragg's Liquid Amino's in my recipes. Can anyone reccomend a substitution for me that I could use? I'm sure it should be in there for the flavor and I need that as I'm just starting raw so I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the recipe section or the general section, so I'll do both. I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Thanks!

chickpea miso...blend/mix-by-hand with a little water to desired consistency and use in place of soy-based sauces. When in a pinch and without any shoyu sauce, I've used miso mixed with water in the Onion Bread recipe and it turned out great!

It's not a "raw" food as the beans, etc. are cooked first BUT... because it's fermented it's a "living" food and many raw fooders use miso. South River Miso makes a few varieties that are soy-free:

Chickpea (made with chickpeas and brown rice): http://www.southrivermiso.com/ourproducts/1year.html

Azuki Bean (made with brown rice and azuki beans): http://www.southrivermiso.com/ourproducts/1year.html

Chickpea-Barley Miso (made with chickpeas and barley): http://www.southrivermiso.com/ourproducts/3year.html

Thanks Rawkinlocs! I have ordered some of the Chickpea-Barley Miso. I can't wait to get it. It seems like this will be needed in quite a few of the recipes that I was looking at.

Glad it worked well in the Onion Bread recipe. That actually sounds good. I better get my book out and check that recipe:)
