Hi Everyone!
Just wanted a little insight from all of you. What is the book tha tyou read that really hit home for you concerning raw foods. I am in the process of purchasing a few more books (because I'm a book worm) and I wanted to get all of your advise. I, of course, have alissa's and a few others that I like but I wanted to see which ones really made the connection for all of you.
Also, I have been thinking about purchasing "the raw secret" by Fredric P. but I remember the thread about him and I also remember that not everyone else liked him. I am sure that it is all just a personal preference and I certainly don't know anywhere near enough about him to even imput but it still makes me a little anzious about buying the book!
I really appreciate your help and I hope that this thread will be helpful for others that are just starting out also. Hopefully from this we can all get some really great books and dvds and not just waste a lot of $$$$$ on junky books!
I wish you all all a peaceful and happy day!

Hi rawjojo,
The two authors that most influenced me were Ann Wigmore and Norman W. Walker. In fact I was so impressed that I purchased every book I could find that they wrote.

Hi Raw JoJo,
My favorite books:
12 Steps to Raw Foods
Raw Family
both by Victoria Boutenko
http://www.rawfamily.com
The Raw Life
by Paul Nison
http://www.rawlife.com/
I think I like The Raw Life because Paul uses a boxer to relate eating raw to. I'm a martial artist, so using a boxer was a real interest to me. I also like his book Raw Knowledge II.
I have numerous other books that I like but those above are my favorites.
Some of my other books:
Raw Power by Stephen Arlyn
Perfect Body by Roe Galleo (to technical but I love the testimonies in the book).
Natures Law
and I know there are others but I can't think of them right now.

Am looking forward to receiving Alissa's book. I have many raw food books, but have never really taken the plunge. We shall see.....

I first read the Boutenko's book Raw Family, but it was over a year before I finally made the step to go raw, and in that time I read LOTS more raw books, none of which pushed me over the edge, so to speak. Then I got Alissa's book in the mail and sat down and read it all in one night. Her recipes sounded so good that I decided to go raw the next day. Not to mention that she is gorgeous, and she has "my" body - the one I've always wanted - healthy, strong and beautiful. She glows. Anyway, I watched her DVD the next day, my first day raw, and it was so inspiring! Read my review at Amazon.com or here: www.vegetarianbaby.com/rawbooks.shtml.

All the books are good but there is nothing that matches Alissa's. I have had just about all of them and when I got hers along with the DVD that was it for me. I ended up giving most of the other ones away because I moved a lot and only had room for the best.

Hi
I love Alissa's book, and there are a few others that I enjoyed as I began to study this lifestyle and I am a bookworm as well.
The Complete Book of Raw Food - http://www.rawfoodbook.com a variety of foods prepared by several of the raw food people you have heard about and some you have not. This one makes them accessible to you depending on where you live. That website will give you a few of the recipes to review and try.
Dining in the Raw Rita Romano -she does have some cooked stuff in hers, but for me it is a good resource
Elaine's Pure Joy Kitchen Elaine Love - good cinnamon bun recipe, is also on the web
Hooked on Raw Rhio - next to Alissa - I love this book too - she has recipes on the web as well
Living Cuisine: The Art and Spirit of Raw Foods Renee Loux Underkoffler similar to the complete book of Raw foods - she does have a few things that are not raw, but a good resource guide and helpful towards gourmet.
The Raw Gourmet - Nomi Shannon - I like it - she has a website and sends out a monthly e-mail as well
Rawsome! Brigitte Mars - Got it this weekend at the expo for free - so far it looks very good - no pictures though
Raw Soups, Salads and Smoothies: Simple Recipes for Everyday Health Frédéric Patenaude
Uncook Book, The: Raw Food Adventures to a New Health High Elizabeth & Elton Baker -My first one - loved it
UnCooking with Jamey & Kim: Over 100 All Original Raw Food Recipes - From Our Kitchen to Yours Jamey Dina & Kim Sproul My second one found in a second handbook store - helped me make deserts! :p
Hope this helps
