View Full Version : WOW, Look in her cart!

I did some major stocking up today at my local Meijers store and my cart was just loaded with every color of the rainbow. I found some of the most beautiful produce:p God given Life giving Alive produce! Well as I was unloading all of this beautiful produce, I heard the words "Wow, look in her cart". This started a very nice conversation about my raw food lifestyle with a nice young family. I swear that her young childrens eyes were as big as silver dollars when I was unloading everything onto the belt. One of them even asked me about my avocados and I explained to him what they were and how they helped my body. By this time there were other people in the next lane listening as well. It felt so good to be sharing my knowledge about my new lifestyle with total strangers. I hope they all went home and will decide to research this for themselves:)

That's so awesome!!!

I love hearing stories like this, as I'm sure everyone single one of us has encountered at some point on our Raw journey.

I'm happy to hear about that. People aren't always that receptive, so it's nice when people are friendly and interested.

Oh now wouldn't that be a fun thread.... pics of your shopping cart! :D

reminds me I need to go do some shopping soon! I loove when I shop and the vibrant colors that fill up my cart, the reds, oranges and yellows, all the shades of green... it's just so beautiful!!

no cans, or boxes, or bags of junk... just vibrant beautiful food!! I love it!

Im so glad you had a wonderful shopping experience rather than the usual strange stares that we sometimes encounter!

That really is awesome! I'm so envious because when I shop I feel like my guard is up--I get looks like I'm a freak. I also get comments from customers in line as well as the employees checking me out like..."somebody likes fruit" or "what are you going to do with all those bananas". But usually I hear "that's a lot of fruit". I would never dare to comment on somebody's food...I think it's rude. And I don't have the time to explain nor do I want to! They will just continue staring at me like I'm a freak! That's been my experience so far.

I wish I never said anything to my coworkers. They just mock me by telling me how much they love their meat and sweets. They want to start the whole protein debate with me over and over. They feel such a strong need to prove me wrong. I just smile and tell them I won't debate with them.

Sorry for the rant.

I know.....They don't know any better. Remember they are all DOPED up on pork and cow. Its like being in School being taunted by the bullies. You hang in and Stay RAW. When it gets too rough for you....REMEMBER SPICEFULL HAS YOUR BACK...........

Cabosun, that is beautiful. :)

I love it whenever I have the opportunity to share with others some about what I do and my lifestyle. People are hungry for the knowledge. When they keep asking questions and you see their emotions brighten as they listen...that is one of the best feelings.

i read your post, and having done all my shopping for the week today, I just HAD to get up and go thank my husband for fully supporting (and joining, now!) me in our raw journey... and for the vibrant colors in our shopping cart. I get an awesome feeling of ecstasy, coming home from the farmers market, with TONS of fresh produce, even some exotic... it's truly exhilarating, and one of those things that you "want to share"... we can only keep pushing forward to the time when more people are as receptive as the people you met today. :)

You should have said "I love sweets too. Why do you think I got so much fruit?"

It does feel good when you can influence others for the good.
I was at a meeting a couple of weeks ago and had put together a fruit salad with persimmons and other fruit and they were servings what i thought looked like a german chocolate cake and i declined when they offered me a slice and i took out my colorful salad and a young teenager was there and i saw here looking and offered her some.
At first she just smiled and i offered her some again and she took some and she said she had never heard of persimmons and she liked it.
How sad when we don't teach our children about healthy foods.
I love being different:D

Hey Cabosun! Where in Michigan are you??? I am in Kalamazoo.................I recall a similar experience awhile ago...this man seemed to actually feel bad when he saw what was in my cart compared to all his SAD food in his...because he seemed like he was feeling bad, I joked with him that I knew he had already bought his fruits and veggies the other day:D ....because I shop for our family of 5 and end up at the produce section last, I usually get 2 carts! People seem so surprised at the amount of produce I get! Meijer does have an increasing beautiful array of produce, I'm happy about that given that we are after all, in Michigan!!! Deb
