What would you tell ppl just starting or those starting to thin out on the determination, motivation & dedication?

Mistakes?

What kept you going?

What do YOU wish someone would have told you?

** Mine would be--> Bad days happen. Not every single day will feel like the highest. Prepare yourself for those low ones you know could be around the bend. Dont let it get to you. Grin & bear it because you will know happier days are to come just as quickly. It's full circle so keep on truckin until you get there!

Ummm....

Just focus on being Raw bite by bite.
If you fall off, don't wait for the next new moon, first sunday, or new month to start over. BEGIN ANEW with the next bite.

If you are big on texture then keep a stash of textured food handy.

Skip the percents and just aim for all Raw all day!

The five tray dehydrator is sufficient. But don't name him ZEUS, that name is already taken.;)

Get a VITAMIXER before any other big ticket kitchen item. But don't name her GAIA that name is already taken.:)

Do your own shopping.

Support your online food shoppes. By from Alissa, if she doesn't have it then go to RAWFROMTHEFARM.COM and tell them Ayesha from TN sent you;)

$et a reali$tic budget for the real life giving food you are con$uming to $u$tain your real live bodies:eek:

It's a journey... there will be days when yu will feel strong and days when you will step into the pot hole and feel like you can't get out...

it's like lifeAGift said... don't wait to restart.... simply start with the next bite.
it's all good -- it's a journey and it will take time, NEVER GIVE UP... keep on ~ keepin on.... and you will be so blessed and amazed at the benefits you experience...

Embrace the flatulence, consider it to be aroma therapy and just let 'errrr rip instead of trying to be tactful. Holding in fart face look worse than farts actually smell.

Pooting is all natural and 100% organic, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!:D

I only fart when i eat too much :) Or alot of cauliflower. Some spices do it for me too ....

ok, enough about the farts.

Ummm raw tips?

Take food with you, everywhere. Ya never know when you'll run into someone you know who last minute wants to do something with you..take bananas, oranges, apples, nuts in your purse. And a small vial of olive/flax oil and some vinegar. It ROCKS.

Well, LifeAgift touched on it, and so did Star, but I'd say ~

It's not the end of the world if you "slip"...it won't mean you're no longer a "raw vegan"...you don't have to be perfect, or obsess over percentages. It's about health, vibrancy, well being, joy, healing, and LIFE!!!! It's not all or nothing...it's a process, and may take time for you to adjust. Do what you feel is right....don't fight yourself, force yourself, or make it difficult. It should be easy, and something you WANT to do, not something you feel you HAVE to do. Being raw should be a pleasure, not a chore....if you don't enjoy it, you won't stick to it. Have fun with your food! Don't over think it....it's not rocket science...Eat raw. Feel better. The end.

Don't have too high of expectations for what eating raw will do for you. The stories of what has happened to other people are AWESOME and totally inspirational - BUT - you are going to write your own story as you journey through raw. For instance, I thought for sure birthing my raw baby would be a breeze, specifically very fast. Labor ended up taking 36 hours, but it was a beautiful birth with no complications. Just not fast. Accept these differences and be thankful for the unique things that you notice happening to YOU and rejoice in those. Awesome things WILL happen to you, just probably not the same specific things you hear about in others. Hope that makes sense!

I wish i could know
-that detoxification means also lower days - not constant bliss.
-that i might feel bloated and craving food i have never liked before
-that my skin, allergies, nails and hair might get much worse before will get better
-that i might not loose weight as quickly as some do despite testimonials
-that some perfectly good fruits, greens or nuts might be super allergens and
should be avoided in all costs
-that some people can be very judgemental for your food choices and sometimes is better just to keep quiet about it and eat my salads as i ate before!

I would be even MORE prepared. I would eat before I left the house...and bring a snack bag everywhere.....and eat too much healthy food. I would have combined less...and eaten more simply.

I would have consciously prepared myself for the emotional detox and healing episodes that would take place... And I would have known that food is a very emotional thing even for someone who "doesn't have" food dependencies. And I would have loved myself more and been ready to heal from the start.

But then... I guess I found those things out from eating raw, not from reading about it. So there's no way for me to have both known AND understood any of that without starting and continuing this journey!

I love this thread and I love all of your post...such inspiration

I would tell everyone to remember that you define your success so don't start comparing and defining success by rigid and unrealistic goals based on what others have done....

What kept you going? Eating for my life instead of for my emotions.

What do YOU wish someone would have told you? Someone did tell me, 10 years ago. They had green smoothies every day and I thought they were from outerspace. I thought, "you poor thing you, how can you exist on liquid vegetables?" While I chomped on my processed, chemically laden, microwaveable vegetarian entre.

THE LIAR BAR WEBSITE CLEARLY STATES THAT THEY SOURCE THEIR COCOA AND THAT IT IS DRY ROASTED, THEY ARE UNCERTAIN ABOUT THE TEMP OF THE CASHEWS THEY USE BECAUSE STEAM IS USED TO RELEASE IT FROM THE SHELL AND THE LEMON JUICE THEY USE IS FALSH PASTEURIZED

So if you don't eat the ones with cacao or lemon juice or cashews, then you're fine, right? Lara bars are my emergency "eat this instead of fast food" escape valve.

has anyone noticed sudden weight gain on the lara bars? Or side effects like you ate something cooked?

That would be a clue right there.

Cherri Garcia

My lara bar opinion:

I guess it depends on which ones you eat...

Cherry Pie has only dates, almonds and unsweetened cherries.
Pecan Pie has only dates, almonds and pecans.
Banana cookie has only dates, almonds and bananas.
Ginger snap has only dates, almonds, pecans, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
Apple pie has only dates, walnuts, apples, almonds, raisins and cinnamon.

And they state that nothing is heated above 118 degrees except what was listed in a previous posts (cashews, cocoa, lemon juice).

I ate these all the time when I first started raw with no problem. I eat them now every once in awhile when I'm on the go or feel like something really sweet. I think they are great for anyone starting raw- because I think that the more choices you have, the easier.

What I wish I knew when first going raw:

That it's hard to eat around others at first, but when they ask questions, it helps to tell them how great I feel.

Eating this way really DOES change your life! Be prepared :)

I'm still relatively new, but my advice to myself and others would be--

--If you think it is hard to resist "just one bite" of a trigger food--wait until you see how hard is is to resist the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc bite. It's much easier to say no the first time.

--Keep yourself well stocked with food you like. Find new recipes/foods that you like and write them down.

--Don't follow every bit of advice you hear/read. You don't have to be a fruitarian today, or worry about combining your foods right now, or twirl three times clockwise while chanting and skin brushing every third time you eat a banana. Just relax and move closer to where YOU want to be. Many people on these boards and others have been doing this a long time and are a different stage of THEIR journey. Decide where you want to go and go there. Make yourself happy and just eat raw.

I just discovered this replacement for Lara Bars when I'm in a pinch: Pro Bars are all unprocessed, whole foods. I tried Lemon twist and boy was it good.

I have just checked the website and the calories lists 370 calories of which 150 is from fat. That is a high percentage.
I can not see a claim to be raw.

Dunno why this was bumped, but adding to Sport's comments: ProBars are not raw. There might be a percentage of raw ingredients, but as they don't state the method of manufacturing nor claim to be raw anywhere on the site, I'd say they're not raw. Also, they list ingredients in their bars that are definitely not raw and some things I'd classify as preservetives and flavour enhancing ingredients that are really not necessary in a raw food bar.
Better than a Snickers? Maybe. Raw? No.
