Good afternoon from a very windy Boston. Let's see - up early to teach yoga (envious of those who got to sleep in!).
Came home and kids had decided to start decorating the house for Christmas (read: empty all the boxes, look at everything and then get bored and leave everything on floor).
But I took it all in with a raw rye bagel (I should have doubled the batch) and the onion dip. That dip is so versatile and I used cashews this time and I think I like it better. And a banana smoothie with cinnamon and carob.
I have some leftover kelp noodles to eat today - they are really cool. I heard about them on RFT and ordered them from Goldmine Natural Foods in CA.
Feel a nap-like state approaching...have a lovely Saturday! Alicia

Yay - Hooray, a new month and a new challenge - I'm adding a daily yoga practice to my challenge too - and more greens as well.
I have many tasks on my to do list today, and raw is keeping me energized to keep up with them, spent the morning prepping kale chips (they are in the D right now) ... and I tried to fix the cacao sauce I made (it was a bit grainy - and it still is :p ) oh well, I've gotta run to my tasks now, so happy to start this challenge with all of you - see you soon
today I've had a tomato with sea salt (I seem to be on a tomato kick right now - can't get enough of them) ... probably an avocado and kale chips later on, and certainly a banana will be in the plans too. Have a great one!

Hannah,
that's cool, I just revived my yoga practise yesterday (after 5 years...) :)
Hope I'll keep motivated (the most difficult is during week, when I come back home tired from lab), it really boosted my energy this afternoon (together with meditation) when I felt like dropping dead in my bed after studying! I also had a rawlicious quite decadent dinner (Cinnapaya Pudding with gojis, loads of chufas, and my newly discovered favourite raw candy bar - a carob pod!! *yummiiieee* http://starwarsloser.info/smile/happy/happy0132.gif ) and now I feel so almost hyperactive as if I could stay up all night long, he he.
Zaphira,
http://starwarsloser.info/smile/sad/sad0126.gif
Chin up, you'll rawk NOW!!! http://starwarsloser.info/smile/party/party0006.gif (http://www.videowhip.co.uk) It's never to late!
Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to have a radiant raw tomorrow! You deserve it!
Love to all of you,
Eevie

Hi Eevie, is this recipe posted somewhere else? Are we supposed to post them here or in recipe section? Can yu post this one, it sounds delicious! Nicole
Heya, rah-woman,
Which recipe do you mean (I just chucked stuff I could find together as I usually do... I'm not so much a recipe-person, I just use them for inspiration sometimes... never able to pull myself together and follow them... he he)?
The avo thingy was just very simply a small avocado blended with half a lemon (peeled, and YES, a lemon, not only the juice, as I am very lazy and don't fancy squeezing lemons :D ), 1 glove of garlic, some salt, dill (a lot) and cayenne (+ some water).
The butternut-puree included (all blended together too):
butternut squash (about 2-3 cm), a little bit sweet red pepper, half a carrot, a slice orange, sweet paprika, turmeric, salt (and again water to adjust consistency).
Hope I didn't forget anything... Or did you mean something different??
Here's a picture of my lunch today (hope it is ok to post pics here in this thread??):

Hey all! I'm back on the wagon! I'm trying to stay very organized to help keep me raw. I have a meal plan and everything! I only have 1 1/2 weeks of school left and I feel that when school is over, it will be easier to stick to raw.

Newbie here and I am sooo excited to start my first challenge with you all! Ive been 100% raw today and I feel sooo proud.
Today I ate:
Cashew cream w/ strawberries
Garlic Corn
salt and vinegar cucumber slices
Tonight I think I will have a kale and fruit GS with a little hemp powder.
I hope I can get in better health and release 30 lbs. I had been doing this diet for a week and already lost 5lbs. This is definately enough to keep me motivated.
I just want to thank all the regulars who have continued to post their daily regimen. It really keeps me rawkin!:D

Good morning!
Not sure how to do this, but here goes.....
Started my day early and am going to get the exercise in and get back to meditating. Planning to try to split the exercise between morning and evening. I tend to mentally be more careful during the day when I exercise in the morning but also like the activity in the evening when I am otherwise bored and munchy.
Got a pile of already prepared veggies and some grab and go fruits like bananas/grapes and am going to concentrate on simple raw and use Alissa's thirty day plan as a guideline for each week. Have the ingredients for the torte, alfredo, etc but will just make small batches to have when the hunger occurs in the dinner hours and do as much simple raw as I can the remainder of the day. Will make some dips for the veggies today and hopefully will be good for a few days until I have to actaully prepare anything else.

Good morning. I am getting ready for church this morning. I have a Christmas party today to attend with some friends from my church. I need something simple to eat/take for "heavy finger foods". I HAVE NO IDEA, I HAVEN'T PLANNED!!! We will go to church, and then grab lunch with the family hosting the party. Dh is making a SAD food....and there will be lots of SAD foods there, none appealing to me.........so I need to whip up something fast!!! I don't have the ingredients to make dip (no cashews or macs)...I'll figure it out.
Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Happy Sunday all!! Day #2!! Yeah!! I always feel if I can get thru day one the rest is so much easier and now a 100% day is behind me. Yippee!!:D
Haven't had anything yet but will make~
~ a green smoothie w/oj, banana, mango, pineapple, energy greens, wheatgrass powder & chia seeds.
Will get the dehydrator going today...have my sunflower seeds soaked for rawitos and will make two sheets thicker for pizza crusts/enchilada wrappers
and make a pizza tonight if its ready. I went to the store yesterday and bought a beautiful array of colorful fruits and veggies.
Feels so good to start the day knowing I am 100% raw again.....what a huge difference already in how I feel physically (slept great, not bloating) and emotionally, (not kicking my own %ss, lighter heart, much more positive).
Hope everyone has a great day!!

Yooohooo!
Hi my brave fellow challengers!
Again I woke up at "normal-working-time", fit for my "morning rituals" (oil-pulling, stretching, Tibetans, meditation...).
For breakfast I had (amongst others) soaked cashews! OMG!!! I never soaked them before (well, I haven'T had them for a long time, let alone raw ones), but what had I missed?! Sooo creamy and... unbelievable ;)
For lunch I had a rawlicious combination of "Golden SOurpreme Tahinicream" and Christmas-y sweet butternut-chestnut puree.... *yum*
And now I'm afraid I'll have to get some work and studying done... hmph...
Have a wonderful 1st advent (do you "celebrate" that as well? With an advent wreath? I haven't seen one here in the UK so far...)!
Love,
Eevie
PS: StarFire, how do you add those cute pictures to your posts? I tried it, but my posts always appear without the pics!
Edit: Where the heck do you guys get your cheap clementines?? I LOVE them, although my answer to the question of yesterdays thread is "... as many as one can afford"! They are so damn expensive here! The cheapest I found were for 1.60 pounds for only 500g (~ 5 pieces)! Or do you just not care about organic?

Day Two already!
Everyone on this thread has such high spirits, it's hard not to be equally excited.
This time around, I'm being less gourmet than I was the first time I tried to go raw. For one thing, I don't have a dehydrator, and for another, I never felt really good when eating from recipes. Now I'm eating smoothies, salads, and whole fruits and veggies, and I'm doing great so far. I haven't found good raw nuts to munch on, so I may have to order them online. Oh well.
Last night I went to bed at 10 with the intention of waking up early, and starting my week with the sleeping pattern I want to maintain. My body said no to waking up, so I slept in this morning.
So far I've eaten:
1 pint of green smoothie -- lettuce, water, kiwi, mixed frozen berries
8 dates. I'm out now, so I must go to the store and get more.
I have leftover kale salad from yesterday to finish for later, and then who knows. I have so much food in my fridge, I'm sure I'll come up with something. Maybe some orange bell pepper dipped in guacamole. Yummy!

here they are selling 5 lb boxes for $4.99. I don't buy organic ones. in fact I haven't seen organic ones, even at Whole Foods. My dc eat so many that I really can't afford organic ones. I try to buy low spray or organic apples and grapes, but the other fruits are usu. conventional. I got a list from Dorit re: what is the MOST important to have organic and I let the other things slide. :o
My raw day:
breakfast: raw oats with raisins and apples
lunch: extra large salad with miso dressing
dinner: nori w/ asian cabbage, portabellas, spinach, sprouts, miso and wasabi
snack/dessert will be persimmon nog and POMS.
Rawk on divas!

Good to see everyone so uplifted--it really is contagious. Started my day with a chocolate, maca, brazil nut and banana with a touch of agave, cinnamon and vanilla in the vm. Wonderful and energizing.
Lunch is going to be a raw soup and dinner is looking like a nice mixed green salad with some heirloom tomatoes I found at the farmers' market yesterday. Next year I am going to grow my own as I adore these.
Hope everyone has a great raw day.

Yeah for Day #2 !
Being Sunday where I can stay home I am really trying to make time to meditate and let my mind and body be...and feel...and react with out preconditioning.....I slept till 9AM ! I will mediate daily first thing and then before i fall asleep.
Been uncooking ever since I woke for my busy week ahead...kale salad, broccoli salad, beet&carrot salad plus banana mac nut cookies, flax crackers and nama sh. seasoned almonds in the dehydrator.
I have eaten 2 bananas ( big kick as I ate 4 yesterday) . I'll have some raw soup I made last night and then a spinach salad tonight I think.
Still feeling peaceful .
Oh - had the BEST dreams !!!
See you on day 3!

PS: StarFire, how do you add those cute pictures to your posts? I tried it, but my posts always appear without the pics!
Adding smileys 101!! ...http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/author.gif
Go to http://www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com/) It is free and all you need to do is register. They will assign you an album and from there you can upload all kinds of cute smileys, pictures, avatars etc…
You can also create new albums – and up load your own personal photos there too. (which makes it way easier to post photos on RFT!)
The cool thing about photobucket is they ASSIGN codes to the photos and smileys. Computer language codes!
To add smileys, photos, etc - to your posts use the [IMG CODE] you just need to copy the IMG code and paste it into the body of your post as you are writing! And ba~da~bing – http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/th357582627l0ng1ru-11.gif ... the cute little smiley appears!
If you are wanting to add a photo to your BLOG in the journal section… do the following:
At the bottom of the page where you are writing your blog – you will see an area where you can add a photo. In this area use the [DIRECT LINK code] assigned by photobucket ---
Click on ‘preview’ and you can see what your post will look like before you ‘save and send’ it for the rest of us to read!
Now the journal section – does not show smileys in the ‘body of your blog’ (from photobucket) – but it will post a ‘link’… which we can click on and see the smiley!
Hope I’m not confusing you! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/15huh-1.gif
There are two other codes photobucket assigns.. I have no clue what they are used for!
It’s actually quite easy!
have fun and goood luck!!

Just returned from the awesome fresh organic produce market in Hollywood...right on the beach. BOOYAA!!! And vegan bear brownies are in the dehydrator! WOOT!!! Let's get this party started! WOOO-HOOO!!!
hello hello! happy day #2 to you all!
i have been a fruit monster today! it's all i want so far. i went to the farmer's market, too, so i stocked up on relatively cheap produce for the week. i absolutely LOVE the farmer's market on sunday mornings...seeing families w/ their babies, young people, old people, everyone walking around with bags of fruits and veggies! it's by far the happiest, most positive atmosphere i've found in LA.
soooo today's food is:
-smoothie w/ 2 bananas, strawberries, fresh-squeezed oj, frozen mango, frozen blueberries
-fruit salad w/ grapes (omg yummmm), strawberries, part of a persimmon that i didn't really like
-banana
i'm about to go for a looong walk and then i'll do some pilates
-i may have another banana or 2 raw cacao-goji energy bites later...then i'm making raw zucchini hummus later so i'll have carrots & cucs w/ raw hummus
-dinner will be a big salad w/ kale, spinach, mesclun greens, red & yellow peppers, carrots, cucs, tomatoes, half an avo, and raw apple cider vinegar
everyone's doing awesome! i just keep thinking how happy i am to have found this raw path. it feels more right than anything else ever has:D

That broccoli salad sounds delicious!! I heard of oil pulling on a different website too! People had great results. Please update us with your results if you have any.
Today I had:
1 cherrie pie Lara Bar for breakfast
1 raw tiramisu from Cafe Gratitude (sooooo yummy!)
After church my mom invited me to HT Buffet. I never liked that place even when I ate SAD foods but it was still hard to fight the temptations. I didnt want to offend her so I went but loaded up with a huge salad. I am sooo glad I fought the temptation and now I know I have what it takes to eat out with family and freinds.
Thanks to everyone for the support;)

Been eating a lot lighter than I normally do, think I'm a little run down as of late.
Today I had:
avocado with herbamare
cucumber/carrot/celery salad with honey mustard dressing
smoothie with young coconut juice and pineapple
This apple/almond/date/raisin concoction
and I think that's it. usually I eat a lot more. I'm tired but otherwise I feel great!

Wow, Mueller (your name makes me think of Bueller) - you are making me drool with thoughts of such treats, sounds like some delish!
I am rawkin' with the raw over here - I just made my first batch of kale chips yesterday, and at first they didn't taste too good to me, but by the end of today i was devouring them. I LOVE the texture, and I loved the flavor by the end - I have more kale, maybe tomorrow I'll make some more with a simpler recipe - say oil and sea salt ... hmm, well I'll see what I come up with today:
I oil pulled, did my writing exercises (twice!), worked on my new year's resolution, and worked ... I ate bananas (4 maybe), drank a lot of water and ate a ton of kale chips ... this is going to sound strange, but I may have eaten 2 tomatoes this morning as well ... I can't really remember this morning, except that I was bopping along in the flow of trying to get a lot accomplished ... it doesn't sound like I ate that much, hmm ... oh well I'll be more diligent in my record keeping tomorrow ... sweet dreams everyone!

Salad-romaine, red pear (that was delicious!), raisins, carrots, pea pods, tomato, walnuts, with balsamic vinegar, agave, nama for dressing

Lots of Donut Holes, made a fresh batch this morning... yummy!!
Also fruit through out the day, bananas, apples, pears, and a pomegranate too!

Hi Rawbies!!! I'm in super COLD  Alaska right now!!! I brought 3 oranges, nuts, and seeds with me and plan to have a salad later. I'm gonna do the very best I can to stay RAW while away from home. I didn't bring nearly enough food with me, but there's a supermarket down the street, so I'm gonna get some food when I get up. I'll only be here for the day, so it's not so bad...

Juice fasting today. I woke up, and that's what my body told me to do. First it was like "no food yet!" and when I cut a melon up to eat, I had an urge to drink it instead. So now I'm enjoying a Gaia melon and rocket juice. Not the best thing I've ever had, but I think I've overloaded on the super sweet flavors lately, so this mildly sweet juice is nice.
Who knows what I'll have later, but I am thinking about trying some ruby red grapefruit and pomegranate juice or perhaps some celery, carrot, apple juice. Or both!
As far as how I'm feeling, I'm doing well. I had a headache last night, but I drank water and went to bed. I slept for about 12 hours, and I am still tired. Maybe too much sleep.

hi-uh. Ice storm here in good ol' New England. Kids are home today. Even dh had to go into work a couple hours late because the hilltown backroads are AWFUL: steep and windy and never plowed well. I have to cancel 2 appts, one was my first training session wit my personal trainer. :( I love snow days tho. I bet most mom's cringe at the idea, but I love 'em. The dc and I play all day: board games, outside, crafts, etc. I love it.
Today I have GOT to make some food. I am really low on anything other than salads.
Oh and last night we made the persimmonog and we ALL LOVED it!!!!

Good morning everyone! I had a great night last night. I stayed 100% yesterday. At our Christmas party....I ate off the veggie tray, and ate ALOT of my own butternut squash (pumpkin) pie....recipe from Maraw and Purely Delicious (posted here somewhere).
Today, there's no plan, I'll probably get a gs when it's time to eat. (The new medicine I'm taking for thyroid requires me to take the med. on an empty stomach, and then not eat for 30 min.-1 hour after taking:eek: Sometimes I'm starving before I get to eat.)
So maybe today:
gs....apples.....OH...I remember now, I have to pick up a couple of groceries....HHMMMMM. I also have a butternut squash waiting and calling out to be made into some noodles!! I love them drizzled with evoo, sprinkled with sea salt, garlic powder, ginger, curry, and chili powder....YUMMO!! And so easy!!!!
Peace to all!!

Woke up feeling pretty good this morning but still did not have the motivation to go to the gym at 5am. The cold weather is taken a toll on my exercise regime. I am going to go tonight and do the elliptical while I watch the Ranger game!!!
As for food I had a glass of lemon water this morning and made a GS and cut up vegetables for the day as well as a piece of spinach pie and a clementine.
Happy day!

I tried to post yesterday, but the page was down. Yesterday was a fantastic day and today i'm starting out with a pina colada green smoothie! On the weekend we had a carribean party for friends and made pina coladas from scratch. They smelled very good, but i stuck to my organic wine so i didn't feel too deprived. Now this morning i get MY pina colada!! With a kick of spinach! Off to the gym and then fruit and veggie shopping, my favorite thing....Nic

How do you make pina colada?
I am excited about day three- so far so RAW.
No cravings - slight headache and splendid mood.
I blended cocoa milk with some agave and vanilla but still lack something.....not the alcohol - some more aroma besides pineapple
maybe again dash of rum essence will do the trick

Hello Rawbies ...
Today I started off the day oil pulling while raking up leaves - we had to get the last of them before the heavy snows come and settle in for the winter ... been up for a while, I'm still craving tomatoes - I can't seem to get enough of them, they are SO yummy to me right now, so I go with it. For breakfast I'm having 4 tomatoes with sea salt, and then later on I will probably have a gs with pineapple and maybe some banana ... or perhaps I'll add some coconut oil and go pina colada like Rah-woman - at least, that's how I'd make a pina colada - if I have some dried coconut on hand maybe I'll add it to the mix.
Have a beautiful day
Love to you all,
Hannah

Just had breakfast! 2 small organic apples with LOTS of fresh cashew butter! YUMMY! I did not want to take the time to make a smoothie, I'm also chilly myself this morning, so I did not want the cold smoothie. I don't have any avo's or I would've made a "savory" smoothie, which is warm and alittle spicey.
Oh well....off to help motivate the kids to get their schoolwork finished.

This is my first post in the challenge because I don't have Internet at home so I couldn't post over the weekend ... but I did stay raw!! It's been super cold here lately, so I haven't been going out as much, but I still try to get in at least an hour of walking outside. Even when it's cold, I still prefer fresh air to stale indoor air. My family thinks I'm insane for sleeping with my bedroom window open in -30. :p It just means I need more blankets.
My food plan for today is:
- 750 ml distilled water with lemon juice
- 600 ml green juice: celery, cucumber, apple, lemon
- 1 litre fresh-squeezed orange juice
- 1 litre green smoothie: 4 bananas, 6 strawberries, lots of baby spinach
- 1 huge honeycrisp apple and some raisins
- dinner: grapefruit juice & pear smoothie and a huge salad with Alissa's tahini dressing
- nut milk before bed
Have a great day everyone! :)

Hiya all!
It's Monday again (although an incredible productive one!), weekend is over, so less time for me to post...
However, raw is so easy peasy! :p
I realized that it's not too much different to what I ate before... Only difference is, that I now have raw carob instead of my old nonraw one, and that I pay more attention to roasted nuts/seeds. And my tempeh, which was one of the things I was sticking to until the end :D
Today I did my usual morning "rituals", nice breakfast (just an apple, a clementine and some cranberries, since I ate wayyyy too much dried fruit etc yesterday evening, for emotional reasons...), one of my famous collard-lunchs (I love to wrap everything in collards for my packed lunch, hehe), and a delicious sweet dinner (too lazy and to little time to list everything separately).
I even did my yoga in the evening, and it feels sooo good!
Rawk on, guys!
Oh, yea, we RAWK!

Eevie, when you do your yoga practice are you going to a class or do you have your own routine?
I really want to start incorporating more yoga into my week but I haven't been making the necessary time to go to classes. I need to find a good book or dvd if anyone has any recommendations.

Hi Mueller!
Yea, Tempeh was the real challenge for me. :) The only taste I could probably miss in the long run, but if I don't have it at home, it's not difficult ;) (btw I always preferred it as it is just cut into a salad or something, not even really prepared/fried/whatever :D ...)
I don't have time or money for classes as well. I'm doin gmy yoga asanas at home in my tiny room (takes about 1 h). I'd love to find a good dvd or something too, to extend my range of excercises, so if you find one... let me know! :)
I have been to a meditation-yoga-retreat kind of thing about 4 years ago and I still had my notes (with the description of the asanas I practise) from there, so I re-started after 4 years of laziness (didn't do them for long at home after the retreat though)!
I wish I could be of more help, but let me say: It's SO worth it! Get your sweet a** in gear and start daily yoga, it gives you so much energy and peace at the same time!!
Yoga rulez!

day 3 and i'm as raw as can be. all the way raw! no "tastes" of my daughters food at all. not even the chocolate chips i put in her waffles this morning. not even one. not even a bite of one. i didn't even smell it. i rule.
asian pears are back! and i made a pomogranate-orange-cranberry-mint chutney yesterday that was just lovely. and i purchased a raw nori-sheet cracker topped with a brazil nut savory spread at the hfs that was so fabulous i am inspired to bust out my cheapie dehydrator and go to town...
shout out to my fellow rawyogaheads... i gotta recommend my favorite style (ashtanga), and my favorite video: Ashtanga First Series: The Practice w/ David Swenson (http://www.amazon.com/Ashtanga-Yoga-Practice-First-Swenson/dp/B000VS872Y/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1196714420&sr=8-2) but everyone is different, and any yoga is good yoga! i just find when you do the same sequence/series every time, it becomes like a moving meditation, similar to tai chi, so you get THAT benefit as well...
have a beautiful day everyone! its so much more fun doing this "challenge" with my cyber team of raw enthusiasts. go team! onward to vibrant health and optimal well-being!

HI all --
i have been snacking a bit, but still raw all the way!! I think I am hitting some detox today --- a lot of headaches, cramping, and general soreness (although it could be the snow I shoveled and scraped off my car yesterday!)
Today's tally:
am:
chocolate smoothie -- cashews, water, carob, cocoa nibs, dates -- i liked it better with the almond butter, but this is still YUmmerific!
4 pumpkin flax crackers -- from my magic box -- yay!! I did a dehydrator recipe! and I cut the crackers after I flipped (thanks Rawkinlocs for a helpful cracker post you commented on a while back!)
sunflower pate' on a cracker, topped with slivers of tomato, avocado,. olives banana pepper, and red bell pepper --- yummers!
For dinner, when I get back from class,
gonna have carrot pecan burger with almond curry sauce, and some marinated greens.. Although Im kinda full right now, so I may just stay with the greens.
Either way, I am hanging in there!
Blessings!

Great to see everyone staying so on target and motivated. Have been doing soups and salads with simple grab and go fruits and veggies. Seem to be on a red grapefruit kick--eating lots of them. Need to find some clementines to try with all the positive talk going on lately about them.

Hey Zaphirah, I also am in NE and experiencing the nasty weather. I'm glad you got to spend time with your kids though!
The highschool in my town was selling big boxes of Florida navel oranges as a fundraiser, so I bought one. It's nice that they do something healthy (and raw) for a fundraiser instead of selling candy bars, and they make a lot of money too. This morning I ate two of the oranges with some cut up strawberries and a drizzle of honey for breakfast. For lunch I had a plain salad with apple cider vinegar. For dinner I had a rommaine salad with sunflower seed parmesan cheese, macadamia nuts, olive oil, a sliced tomato, raisins and avocado. For dessert I had a blueberry, cacao, honey, macadamia nut smoothie. I meant to do the liver cleanse but ended up deciding not too. When I read the recommended dosage on the back of the epsom salt package I realized that I would have to take three times the max. daily dosage and go scared.
Has anyone else done the liver cleanse? How did it go for you?

Some frozen grapes and a green smoothie(southern greens from TJs, banana, hemp powder, frozen melon blend from TJs) for breakfast
I prepped some garlic corn and tomato-cucumber salad for lunch and dinner.

Hi all. Just checking in..
Today's food:
herbal tea
apples w/ raw butter
herbal tea
raw ice cream, a few bites...
Not hungry today.
Tomorrow I definitely have to make a smoothie. cold or not, I must make one....I think I'll use some of the hemp seed powder I bought this weekend. Maybe I should make that now....just not hungry.
Feel kinda down....hanging in there and NOT EVEN CONSIDERING ANYTHING OTHER THAN RAW!!
I think I'll make some more tea...and take a nice hot shower, crawl into bed and get some much needed rest.
I guess the "events" of last week....a 16 year olds friends funeral, and my grandmothers heart attack....just too much.
Peace,
I'll post tomorrow, hopefully in a better mood.

Hi Everyone,
Wendi, I hope you have a restful sleep and feel refreshed the next time we hear from you.
Everyone's food is making me so hungry!
Yogis out there - lots of good dvds. Maui Butterfly's recommendation is great but if you are a beginner, check out any of the Gaiam yoga dvds - they are at Target or online.
Yoga books are fine when you know what you are doing but if you are new, it's like trying to teach yourself how to swim by reading a book! That's funny just writing that (i'm glad I crack myself up). Feel free to email me with specific yoga questions.
I have boring raw food in my house today so I'm going forage for something tasty now... See you tomorrow. Alicia

hey everyone!
radishez, i think it's totally normal to be hungry every few hours, especially when you got up so early! the earlier i get up, the hungrier i am and the more i tend to eat throughout the day. listen to your body's signals and if it says eat, then go for it!
tvillemom, i'm sorry you've had such a rough week:( you should be so proud for sticking to raw- not only will it make you feel great in the long run, but now you know that if you made it through such a bad week and stayed raw, you can get through anything! i give you a lot of credit for not turning to cooked food for comfort. hang in there, i am sending happy vibes your way!
i am sooo happy b/c i thought i was going through more detox since i got a horrible headache and felt totally drained last night, but today i am back to normal! woohoo! i guess i am too quick to blame every little thing on detox;)
today i had 16 oz. fresh squeezed oj for breakfast, a fruit salad w/ a banana, grapes & strawberries for a snack, a HUGE salad (my coworkers marvelled at how i fit it on my plate!) with kale, spinach & mesclun greens, red & yellow peppers, carrots, a tomato, sprouts, half an avo, and raw ACV for lunch, an apple and a banana for a snack, some baby carrots w/ raw hummus pre-run, and a REALLY awesome smoothie w/ a banana, lots of strawberries, lots of frozen mango (mmm), frozen blueberries & a splash of fresh-squeezed oj for dinner. it was sooooo good.

Hello Everyone.
Woke up bright and early this morning (4am) with LOADS of energy! Though I am not really in the mood to do yoga this am which is odd. I think the cold weather is getting to me, I sort of just want to cuddle down in front of the fire and knit. We have been hit hard here in ontario with snow and freezing rain and more is expected today.
I made the nut date torte and broccoli soup out of Alissa's book last night for dinner. My entire famiyl loved it so much they want me to make it again today..lol..rawk on.
Today I have flax seed crackers dehydrating, some sweet potatoe chips ready and i am going to make some dip to go with. I want to pop in some cider vinegar chips (I LOVE them)and start some corn chips.
Life is good here in this neck of the woods. I feel so alive and ready for change. Its a good day.

Good morning everyone!
Today so far I have had a green smoothie and a very interesting sandwich . . .
When I was a cooked vegan I always had a PB&J sandwich and a glass of soy milk for breakfast, and thought that I couldn't live without it! Today I spread some guacamole on one half of a sheet of nori and some sunflower seed pate on the other half and folded it down the middle. I ate it like a sandwich and thought it was delicious, way more healthy and more interesting than my old breakfast!
Today I plan on eating a simple salad for lunch and some zuchini pasta for dinner.
Best wishes to everyone and remember to have fun with your raw food.

OK...
Yesterday was a great day as far as staying 100%, my mood was bad, but I feel much better today.
Funny thing happened. Here's the story. The kids and I are reading "Torches of Joy" about missionaries in New Guinea. The wife started having SERIOUS health problems.....lost about 20lbs...(from 110 to 88), was depressed, and really suffering. She was in the "hut" taking care of their small children (one was just a baby) and so lonely because of noone to talk to. Anyway...she was flown to the coast to find out what was wrong with her. The Dr.s said it was psychological, that she really just wanted to go home. She faught that and a week or so later, a woman came to her and told her she had suffered from the same thing. She asked her if the women in her tribe suffered from GOITERS.....ding, ding, ding...(this is a THYROID problem) Anyway, she gave the missionary wife some KELP tablets, and just a week or so after taking them, she was feeling like a new woman!!! As I read this, I began to get emotional. It was like God used this to remind me to get my kelp tablets (I bought a bottle and they are in my cabinet!!!!) and eat seaweed daily, so my thyroid will function.:D
Last night before I went to bed, I took a kelp tablet!
Today I will have a gs for breakfast, and not sure what else.
Ya'll have a great day!!

Good morning Day 4 ! Good morning snow!
My first 3 days were a success! 100% raw - i had some temptations and solutions to overcome them. I tend to overindulge in nuts, but besides that i am fine - feeling good and looking forward to another day. Being mindful:):) and excited to try new things.

Great day yesterday and feel very energized today!
Started day with lemon and water followed by a green smoothie while sitting in the lovely morning rush hour, and of course jamming to some tunes.
Tentive menu plans today.
Snack onion bread with herbed cashew spread
Lunch, marinated broccli, spinach, tomato and mashed potato (cauliflower of course).
Dinner, green smoothie or salad....not sure yet
EBTKS....are these ingrediants or the name of the smoothie?

Hi everybody. Woohoo, day four! I got some amazing raw news yesterday. The produce buyer at the little organic market where I have a standing order for a weekly case of oranges sent me an e-mail saying there is a raw fooder in the area who is interested in finding someone to share the cost of cases of produce!! This is amazing news. I tried over the summer to get through a case of bananas a week on my own, but there were just too many and lots went to waste. I also got the news yesterday that a neighbour has a friend interested in renting my parking space (I don't drive), so the money I make renting out my parking spot can pay for the extra organic produce. How amazing is that??
My food plan for today:
- 1 litre of distilled water with lime juice
- fruit salad: 6 bananas & 6 persimmons
- 1 litre of fresh-squeezed orange juice
- grapefruit & pear smoothie
- large green salad with Alissa's tahini dressing
Have a FANTABULOUS raw day everyone!! :)

I am having the most amazing wonderful raw day that I jsut wanted to jump on here and share it with the world. lol
I love this life...
Right now as I sit here and check my e, I am drinking a grapefruit mango juice. 2 grapefruits, 1 mango. I love it.
for brekkie I had a banana, an apple , handful of pistacheos (sp?) and a clemintine. I also had a flax cracker with some veggie pate on it.
I was feeling REALLY hungry ealier but rather then gorging or snacking on not so good choices , I took ONE flax cracker and ate it slowly. Really feeling it soak into my body. The funny thing was that I discovered that that one cracker was enough to fill me! The before raw person would have grabbed at least triple that and stuffed them all down. It was one of these neat realization moments.
I think I am gonna go sit by my fire and knit.

Today is my fourth day of the challenge, but my first day posting. Right now I'm slurping up my first green smoothie in a couple of days (I've been waking up too late to make them) and it's sooooo yummy! I really miss them when I don't get one. Today's is spinach, carrots, bananas, mango, pineapple, and raw coconut oil. Before raw food, I hated coconut (and nuts, and avocados, and sprouts, and a million other completely delicious things that I now love!), but now my body just hums whenever I have a gs with coconut oil. Anyway, I'll be drinking the gs throughout the morning (there's 64 ounces of it) and then my lunch/afternoon snack will be raw hazelnut butter, bananas, and raw honey on flax crackers (one of my new favorite recipes!) and maybe a persimmon. I'm not sure about dinner, but someone mentioned a broccoli soup, so I might try that since I have some broccoli I need to eat. In other news, I'm crazy sore today because I did about an hour of weightlifting last night. I've been a major slacker with exercise for a while now, and I really want to make it a daily habit. Apparently, I was way out of shape, because I'm so sore I have to brace myself on my desk just to sit down! :p

Matt I love your slip - I was thinking the name Nature's Favorite Girl was an interesting title.
Tvillemom - I love receiving messages in unexpected ways - I'm glad your feeling better today, and I'm glad you've got your kelp. :D
Wow, I'm feeling some great energy this morning ... its been an up and down ride for me emotionally lately - at least raw food is constant. I started my day with my morning routine followed by a huge green smoothie (a whole pineapple blended with a bunch of kale) - its yummy, plus I am at the point with raw eating now where I am trying to consciously include certainly things in my diet - this month's focus is more greens. Eventually I may even try to include more sea veggies and nori (because I have like 48 sheets left) - I just don't care for the taste of it right now.
Oh and I'm craving a simple salad of greens, tomatoes (what else), and a little bit of onion with a simple olive oil + lemon juice dressing - oooh toss that with some sea salt and pepper and yummo this girls in heaven! Hmm, an addition of avocado would be good too! Well I think I can make that happen for me today! Yay!
Have a great day everyone!

I also ate way too much yesterday, but it was all raw. Not enough to budge the scale thankfully, but again its not totally about weight loss. I dont feel yucky after eating all that I did compared to when I ate a ton of processed junk foods.
I am eating a lighter day, and going to graze a bit more, having a piece of fruit every time I feel a little hungry. Someone on here mentioned their hunger zone of wanting to keep it between hungry and satisfied. I like that idea, and grazing works well for it.
I think I 've been eating too many dates and nuts, as they are just so tasty, almost like eating candy. I will save those for dinner and only have one serving of each, not many servings throughout the day! I am trying to overcome my overeating habits that I've had for a few years now. But at least if I overeat now, its healthy food.
Edit: Oh, and for breakfast I tried a new item, a pepino melon. It was a bit more bitter than I was expecting, since it sure smelled almost like cocoa butter and banana cream pie, lol. My senses have already been strangly strong, and they are getting more so!
I also had a tangelo and some pineapple. I did some areobics this morning too.

Wording it like this is kind of crazy. Like I'm some kind of addict breaking an addiction.
So far the transition to 100% raw has completely easy for me b/c I was already eating many raw fruits and salads and was vegan beforehand.
Well, today Chipolte, your run of the mill Mexican chain opened up next to work. Today was free burrito day and practically everyone in my office ran over to get a free burrito. Being that veggie burritos used to be one of my favorite foods I was extremely jealous when my coworker came to my apartment with his huge burrito. It looked so good!!
** On an aside, I got raw taco's with sunflower meat from pure food and wine last week. I need to learn to make those to feed these cravings!! **
I ate my regular lunch salad and the desire vanished after that. I felt some vindication when friend, after eating the burrito, proclaimed 'burritos alway do me in.' They do. They are a huge cooked meal and sit in your stomach.
Ok. Just thought I would share.

Monday was my one and only day off until Friday. When I came home at 8 am, I ended up staying up until noon. I slept until 9 pm last night! I was really exhausted! When I got up I had a coconut macroon which was still in the dehydrator. Tasted pretty good!
Later that night I had a Kale, tomato, cucumber, black olive salad with alittle olive oil, a herb mix, and sea salt. This is the first time I have had a Kale salad, at first I wasn't sure if I liked it. As I ate more of it, the taste became very appealing. I think I really like Kale.
I went to bed at 5 am, and got up around 11:30 am. I juiced 1/2 pineapple, and three oranges, and added a small amount of Agave. (I like Agave, such a small amt needed to make things sweet.) It was sooo goood! I may use up the rest of the pineapple and make some more juice for work tonight.
Later I had a banana, sliced, with pecans ground and a small amt of Agave. I guess I have a sweet tooth today. Now, I'm craving mushroom soup. So I need to find my recipe for raw mushroom soup. I have so many raw recipes I collected online, I really need to organize them in a scrap book so I can find them when I need them. Anyway I plan to take some mushroom soup for my lunch break at work, tonight.
Is anyone starting to think about New Years resolutions? I woke up thinking about what I want to do in 2008. I felt like something good will happen if I plan carefully. Like a different job, etc. :)
Anyway I have gone on too long, so have a Rawkin Day!

i'd say... http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/thinking.gif ... about 5,589 avocados might be too many in one day.... other than that - eat until your body says - thank you -- I'm full now! ;) ...
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/004_110103_heehee_prv.gif
but seriously -- I've eaten as many as 5 or 6 avocados in one day, and did it for several days in a row. and then one day - my body said 'thanks' I've had enough and I didn't eat another avo for months! ;)

Heyyy, guys!!!
Mueller, you made my day, you're hilarious :D
Reminds me of my flatmate and our poster in the kitchen. It says something like "But the best thing about Harry's job was the big celery" (with a huge celery in the corner of the office), and about a month after getting the poster (SHE bought it!) she goes "Oooooh. Celery... SALARY!!!! Ooooh!" XD
Had a RAWkin day again today, although I ate WAYYY too much in the evening (raw at least). Mainly because of emotional reasons, I know. And too much almond butter and cashews for "pudding" (after my actual dinner, which would have been physically satisfying already).
Anyway, have a nice evening! And do some yoga ;)

What a funny thread today! Cracking up as I read along.:D
Anyways~started today different~juice instead of GS. I put parsley, papaya, apple, cuke, & spinach~very good.
Lunch was a salad with mixed greens, mater, onion with EVOO & vin & some onion bread.
snack~cacao shake~boy I was missing that as I usually have cacao in my morning GS so I whipped up some ice, almond butter, cacao, stevia-(out of agave til tomorrow)vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt , maca , banana & water & Vita -mixed the daylights out of it & enjoyed the frothy goodnes!:D
Dinner was my version of Juliano's Fiery Lava Soup. I'm so hooked on this soup. I added some red pepper & cuke to the blend & lot's of jalapeno to warm me up in the 18 degree weather.
Probably have some sort of snack tonight. OK my report is finished.

good evening/night raw foodies! or good whatever time of day it may be where you are;)
i am feeling pretty exhausted today, and my entire body is sore from running/walking hills and carrying a giant toaster around a mall yesterday...long story but a girl at work set our toaster on fire! so they sent me out to buy a new one, which is ironic b/c i'm the only person in the office who never uses it. hehe. those things are heavy!
i have been having pretty crazy dreams lately, too. i wonder what they mean? every night i dream something strange.
food today:
-fruit salad w/ grapes, strawberries & a banana
-cashew cookie lara bar (bad choice- these just make me want to eat fat all day, as you will see...)
-apple & banana
-3 raw cacao-goji energy bites (like laras but small bite-sized pieces) and a banana
-cauliflower- was craving it allll day- and a few baby carrots w/ raw hummus
that brings me to right now...i feel like i have eaten all day long, but i want to get my greens in so i'm going to make a salad w/ spinach, kale, mixed greens, red & yellow peppers, tomatoes, cukes, cauliflower, sprouts, half an avo and raw ACV.
that seems like a ton of food but i guess it's really not. i have "issues" sometimes on days that i don't exercise, i feel like i shouldn't eat much, but i need to get over myself and fuel my body with as much healthy raw food as it asks for!
i do want to stop eating those lara bars / raw energy bites though. i feel drained after eating those things. i need to keep it simple.

I hardly notice what I am eating anymore. I make sure my kitchen is well stocked and then I just move through my day eating when I get a slight hunger signal and eating whatever I feel like eating, which today has been about 80 to 90 % fresh made juice. But everyday is different like yesterday I ate mostly salads. I find such freedom in not thinking about eating any more then is necessary except to stay in the "sweet spot" between slightly hungry and slightly full. Another RAWlicious day in progress, just for the health of it.

Here's todays tally:
am:
20 min of rebounding (Forgot to put 10 min on yesterdays post!)
chocolate smoothie -- a little thicker than what I like... I think i have quenched my chocolate and cashew fix for the week..
an apple and a pear
water
pm:
At noon I took 4 softer veggie flax cracker squares to school with me and used them as sandwich slices for my sunny pate' and sliced avo, banana pepper, olives and tomato! Great finger food!
eve:
cup of marinated greens, with a little guac, sundried tomato, red bell peppers, and kalamata olive.
--ate 1.5 small carrot-walnut burgers with my special sauce on top...
now: ate an apple, and sipped on some mint suntea..
I am feeling super satisfied :) Not heavy, but just DONE, lol!
I think tomorrow will be a light day -- I've made a lot of goodies, but I feel like having some cucumber slices and fresh soups again....
Tune to tomorrow -- I will try to upload my pics thru the photobucket thing...

Okay ladies, today was great, had fruit salad for breakfast(husband made it), lunch was salad (ate at a resturaunt and had to tweak it abit), i even brought my own avocado and salad dressing! Mid-aft snack was nori roll with avocado and sunny pate and supper was cabbage rolls with tuna pate. And of course chocolate pudding for dessert. this is alot of food but right now i am dealing with some issues and i turn to food for comfort. I know it and recognize it but at least it is raw food. By the end of this 30 day challenge i hope to be on the right track to reaching my goal. My goal is NOT the LIVE TO EAT but, TO EAT TO LIVE. I hate the control that cooked food had over me and i don't want raw food to have the same control over me.....Nic

What a wonderful day full of weather variety! Liverpool's sky can't decide between rain, sun and Mary-Poppins-effect-strong storm :D
Had some delicious raw food again, of course. And for lunch (amongst MANY others, hehe) some chestnuts! OMG, I'm hooked on them since I tried them a few weeks ago (I actually thought you can't eat them raw!! What have I been missing during the first 22 years of my life??!). *yum*
Ah, yes, I think Alicia mentioned it yesterday:
I agree!! Spiralizing raaaaawks (2 Mueller words in 1 sentence :D hee hee)!!
I was invited for dinner couple of weeks ago for a delish raw extreme un-cooking session (and eating, of course), and there I saw this amazing little device the first time! The spiralizer XD And as simple as it was - the butternut "pasta" just with garlic and some hemp oil was sooooo amazing!
I definitely need to buy such a thingy when I'm back home in Austria (don't want to accumulate too much stuff here, which I'll have to leave here anyway).

Woke up this morning feeling good. I've started my day with 2 clementines. Just a couple of minutes ago when my 10 yr old son came out of his room I asked him what he wanted for breakfast.... he said, "how 'bout a green smoothie with apple/banana/lemon (and collards of course;) )". Life is GOOD! No, he's not all raw but by my quiet example he and my daughter are trying more and more. I've got collards marinating for lunch, I'll have that with some avocado and sliced tomatoes - mmmmm. This morning is my weekly run to Sam's Club for produce.
Have a great day!

Spiralizing is using that handy little spiral slicer Alissa recommends right?
We've got to make sure I'm on the same page with the rest of the group. :D
That butternut squash dish sounds amazing. I actually ordered one of these handy little devices and made the zucchini pasta last weekend.
Would it be too bold, to say I rawk at spiralizing?

Good morning everyone!
Alicia: Your post is too funny. Yes, I think we should have a handshake. I have found out through reading, that there are LOTS of us here with thyroid problems. Why is it such a LARGE, widespread problem? My butternut squash....I put through a SPIROOLI. I have a spiralizer thing (like Alissa sales) but lost the little attatchment that makes it into spaghetti. I like my spirooli. It cost about $12 and cut right through that squash. The only thing is, I cut my sqash into half (to scrape out the seeds) and then into about 4-5 inch pieces (like half of the squash) and it worked great for me! Hope this helps. If you have that other thing, ask at the recipe/preparation board, I'm SURE someone can help, or maybe someone here wants to help??
I'm in the mood for some mock salmon or mock tuna. Not sure if I have all the stuff, so I'm off to find a recipe, or two...sometimes it takes a FEW recipes to get good results, depending on what I have in my kitchen!!!
Looking forward to a gs this morning.
Woke up with a slight headache....and it seems to be getting worse, so I'm outa here, drink lots of water and get that smoothie in before the pain escalates!!
Peace

Good morning - day 4 was a success again and Day 5 looks promising- great crisp morning and green smoothie for breakfast - two fruits awaiting to be assimilated....
Less sleep more things accomplished, sunny music, mellow. Weight the same.

I am so proud of all of you, and to be here.
It's Day 5 and I am still 100% raw:) , however, I eat too raw many nuts. I am so addicted. Once I get started I can't stop. I think I should give them up for good. They prevent me from releasing weight. In fact, I gained about five pounds in a month:eek: . Overall, I have maintained a 26 pound weight release since I've been raw. This 5 pound weight gain has shocked me.
NO MORE NUTS FOR ME!!!:(

Good morning all!
Great to hear everyone is doing so well :D
Yesterday was a success onto Day Five! Feel really good. Joggged a little (very little mostly walking) yesterday. Today is hitting WF for flax, nuts etc.
Today started groggy (bed was so warm :p ) but once I was going, life was good.
Lemon juice and warm water
Huge smoothie, spinach, banana, maca, cilantro
Lunch: (leftovers from yesterday lunch) marinated broccoli, spinach, tomatoe, eggless egg salad and tomato herb bread
Snack - banana or flax crackers
Dinner - I think I'll make tuna salad with Kale.
Have a wonderful day to all and congrats on success!
congrats on day 5 everyone!
my stomach is telling me to eat very simply/lightly today... i'm not sure why i don't feel very well but it could have something to do with the SPIDERS that were in my avocado last night! i found these stringy things as i was cutting it up, and upon further investigation (after i'd already mixed half the avo into my salad) i saw that they were HAIRY, and i cut further and found a big dead hairy spider!!! eeeek! it took me a while to calm down, but i realized a bug every now and then in an organic fruit/veggie is still way better than eating pesticides, toxins and artificial hormones with every non-organic fruit/veggie. but i think my subconscious is playing tricks on me... i did take a few bites of the salad before i realized there were spiders in the avo!
so... today i'm bringing some fresh-squeezed oj, apples, bananas, grapes & tomatoes to work. i'll do some kind of light workout- a walk or short run and pilates- tonight, and then have a salad for dinner. maybe with half an avo (if i get new ones! lol), and definitely w/ raw ACV.
have a great DAY 5!!!!

Danielle, a raw food teacher told me one time....about avocado's...make sure the little stem is on the top...where the avo was attatched, or you can get "critter" or bugs that have slipped in, or something like that! I always check for the "plug" at the top. I wonder if your avo had that??
Sorry to hear about your little mishap...I hate it when that happens.
Enjoying the season, there are gifts all around

good morning friends! Yesterday was great. I had juice for breakfast, germinated rice for lunch and yummy yummy nori and a side salad for dinner. I didn't eat after dinner, which is a MAJOR accomplishment for me. ;) lately I have been waking in the morning and still feeling kinda "full" so I am going to cut down on any snacking after dinner to give my food more time to digest.
I went to the gym yesterday and did 20 min on the bike and 60 on the treadmill. I was very happy. Today kinda stunk because I got all the way to the gym and realized I forgot my wallet (to pay for the childcare). I managed to scrounge up 2 bucks in the car and paid for dd to go for an hour. :p
Todays food looks like: raw rice for breakfast. Sauerkraut and a GS for lunch. Nori with miso, wasabi, marinated greens and marinated/dehydrated portabellas with a side salad for dinner.

Ahh day 5 . Woke up with more energy today and feeling a little lighter emotionally. Eating raw does help the inner being !
GS - spinach, banana & mango which I strained so it was juice. ( I get tired of the thickness sometimes, even when I thin down).
Broccoli - raison salad
Some nuts ( I will have to cut these out but for now they help me maintain)
Tonight ? Lots of veggies to choose from.
I am eeking  over the avocado spider !!
Glad to be able to share this journey with all of you.

Anyway, the smoothie was a PS....PURPLE SMOOTHIE!

Wendi, I think the spiralizer just isn't strong enough for the squash but I will forge on because it sounds so good.
So, Mueller, are you ready? "I'm going to Spirooli, not Spiralize, and then my butternut squash pasta will rawk out."
I made the mock salmon pate today and wrapped it in nori sheets. Then I had bean sprouts with a hit of N.S. (oh no, Mueller another raw vocab test!).

Hehe... :)
There was a thread around, like "You know you are a raw foodist when..."
I've got the definite answer: When your friends bring you a massive cabbage head instead of chocolate as a present :D
Happened to me today. Some days ago I made some (non-raw) cinnamonapplebread for some of my friends (not for me, I just wanted to use up my old flour, baking powder etc..). Win-win situation: I got rid of my old stuff, they loved it. And one of the girls loved it so much that she felt like giving me a present back today :D (now I've got cabbage for the rest of the month. It IS massive.... Just made some wraps with it for tomorrows luch... Open for your craziest ideas what else to do with it... apart from just salad I mean ;) )

I've had an adventure this afternoon. Last week I bought a pie pumpkin after reading all the yummy recipes for pumpkin pie floating around. I mean HOW HARD can it be.... right?!?! I was moving right along and my crust came out beautiful. I had juiced the apples that went into the filling, so I was ready to tackle the pumpkin. I cut into it to scoop out the seeds and my knife went in and it was all moldy! NOT GOOD. SO, I drove the 20 minutes round trip back to the store to get another pumpkin (remember I had already made the crust AND apple juice so I was committed), finally get home and I cut the top off, scooped out the seeds then proceeded to try to skin this sucker ... hmmmmmmm. My knife skills are usually pretty good, but not today. If anyone has any good suggestions I am open.... I now have a raw SWEET POTATO pie  But it looks beautiful and I have my fingers crossed.

Ate the most delicious clementine ever today.
I also had a slice of a macadamia nut strawberry raw pie that I made. It was delicious. I had salad for lunch and will probably have another one for dinner.
It amazes me how I never seem to get sick of salad. One thing I've noticed is that after a month of raw I have been eating less food but my food tastes better and I am completely satisfied with less. It's nice now that I don't have ridiculously huge grocery bills!
A librarian caught me taking a sip from the water bottle in the library today and made me put it away. I'm such a rebel, I know.

Alright, Day 5!
Today has been pretty nutso at work, and I'm wiped out. On Wednesdays I work from 9am-9pm, so I have to bring all my food with me, which gets kind of annoying. Today I started off with about 4 or 5 clementines (I could eat those all day!), then had a handful of cashews around noon. Now I'm sipping a purple smoothie (kale, bananas, mango, pineapple, peaches blueberries, coconut oil) and hoping I don't have shreds of blueberry in my teeth. The coconut oil hit the frozen berries and turned solid on me, so I'm getting a few interesting lumps in my smoothie every now and then. Still yummy though! For dinner I will either have flax crackers and a banana or flax crackers and an avocado, depending on what I feel like eating.
One bummer is that last night I drove all the way to Whole Foods (okay, so it's only 20 minutes, but it was late and I was tired) to get my favorite sprouted/salted sunflower seeds (I LOVE them!), and WF was closed for a party! Argh! So then I had to go to our local grocery store/healthfood store hybrid to get food for the week, but they didn't have the green juice that I love and can only find there. I could make it myself, but buying it there is actually cheaper. So I was pretty grumpy by the end of the whole grocery epic. I may just order a giant box of those sunflower seeds online or something. They are soooo good, and I'm really jonesin for them right now.
In good news, I walked for an hour last night. I won't be able to exercise today, though I might do a short stretching routine before bed, since I'm really sore still. Oh, and here's a crazy thing--I forgot to eat dinner last night! I don't think I have ever skipped dinner (or any meal, for that matter) in my entire life. I just wasn't hungry and I was doing other stuff, so I didn't eat. This whole lifestyle of eating when you're hungry instead of eating according to the clock is kind of blowing me away. It rawks!

Happy Birthday Lady Green Jeans - are you of any relation to Mr. Green Jeans? ... I hope your birthday is a blast.
Also Happy Hanukah everyone ... tonight is night 2 - no latkes for me ... traditionally people eat foods fried in oil, the olive oil on my salad this morning will have to count for me. I don't even miss latkes, though I do miss bread - wow I can't belive how long its been since I had a piece of challah bread. We have (I had) it every friday for Shabbat dinner ... Ok I digress - GO RAW! Is this making any sense?
I am feeling very silly over here ... actually I was feeling so silly i decided to put on my shiny purple spandex pants for the rest of the night (I purchased these as part of my halloween costume) I'm wearing them with my mom's too big for me black ugg-style boots and a fitted gray hooded sweatshirt ... hmm maybe I should add a cowboy hat to this look - or better yet this funny curly lambswool babushka cap that we have in the front closet - ok I got it on now - oh wow what a sight I would be if you could see me! I'm having so much fun!
Today I had the day off work and then it snowed all day, so I was pretty much homebound ... we (my mum and I) went to the grocery to get some food staples - while we were in the produce department I was hunting for clemetines (they were all out  ) and I discovered a grapple.
Mueller it's another new one for you: Grapple: Looks like an apple tastes like a grape ***Note: Grapples are apples that have been injected with artificial grape flavoring    - they don't even smell like true grapes, but like grape gum***
It's almost as awful as an avocado filled with spiders, almost, but not quite! Well I hope you all are feeling good and feeling strong and ready to RAWk into tomorrow - i'll see you then, I'm off to test a new grapple smoothie recipe (psych!)

today was my day one, and it was a good day until my cat ran away. but i found him, and still raw, so no worries.
food:
-grapefruit
-couple apple slices and a celery stick with almond butter and a few raisins
-coleslaw (made of purple cabbage, carrots, vinegar, ginger, onion, dill, sea salt)
-bowl of raspberries topped with chocolate mousse (avocado, cacao, agave, bit of coconut water)
-herb salad mix with sprouts, a crumbled raw nori sheet and a scoop of 'salmon pate'
-granny smith apple and 2 coconut date rolls
lots of snacking. i'm excited, and the boyfriend is being more supportive than i thought.
i love reading about everyone's daily experiences and your delicious food!
Wendi, thanks for the tip about choosing avos with the stems! i just checked the one i bought today for my salad tonight, and it's got the stem- phew!
rawdancer_uk, i hope your knee feels better fast!
solongg00dnite, i hear you- i've been feeling tired and run down lately, too. i think it has a lot to do w/ the change in the weather as well.
Hannah, apples injected w/ grape flavoring?? that is ridiculous! i saw those at ralph's but had no idea what they were!
ok so here's how my day turned out:
-banana, 12 oz. fresh squeezed oj, & apple in the morning
-2 bananas and an apple for lunch
-2 tomatoes for a snack (mmmm)
-a few baby carrots & one stalk of cauliflower w/ raw hummus when i got home- didn't want to ruin my appetite for dinner!
-i'm about to make a salad w/ spinach, mesclun greens, cabbage, half an avo (hopefully no spiders this time...lol), red peppers, carrots, tomato, cucs, cauliflower & raw ACV
i am going to try my best to stay around 80-10-10 and stick to no overt fats during the day. i feel a million times better today than i did yesterday- back to feeling light & floaty. i am still having the WEIRDEST dreams ever! seriously...who dreams that they work as a jailhouse executioner? oh, that's right...i do! creeepy...
ONTO DAY 6!!!

Hannah,
Thank you for the birthday wishes. No, no relation to Mr. Green Jeans. He sure seems like a nice person and definately on the right track. Not to be derogatory, but he looks to be quite a handsome man by his pic.
You sound like totally on the right track with your raw and silliness--hey gotta stretch out once in awhile to be healthy. Will we be seeing a pic? Being raw brings out so much of the real me (and sounds like the real you, too)--what a blessing.
I'm heading back to Ohio for the holidays and, how weird, but have been thinking about sledding. So odd, but grew up sled riding down the most awsome hills--maybe I'll have to see if my sled is still in the garage when I get back (snickering here thinking of suicide hill and the huge tree with many a sled mark--none from me of course). Sometimes I really miss all the seasons being in Southern CA.
Blessings to you for a wonderful holiday. Hope everyone will be keeping it happy, healthy and raw.

Good morning Pumpkins! My plan today is to have raw oats for breakfast, a GS for mid morning/lunch. 1-2 POMs for lunch/afternoon. Nori with marinated greens and portabellas for dinner with a side salad.
I am working on a secret recipe at the suggestion of Gus, one of my 9 yo twins. He developed the Rawlmond Joys recipe and now we are working on another one. It will be revealed as soon as it's perfected.
So 2 nights in a row I have found myself grazing in the kitchen at night. This is an old habit of mine that kept me very overweight for YEARS. I haven't done this behavior in months and now it is back. I do believe I have been all raw while sleep-grazing, but I had a nightmare last night that I was eating fried veggie sticks. I woke up and thought it was real, but then I remembered that we haven't had veggie sticks in the house for more than a month. PHEW!!! LOL!

Good Morning All! Santa came had coconut milk and raw chocolate truffles left me big bag of oranges and persimons! Thank you Santa!
Day 5 100% raw- i am so glad i am doing it with all of you - it helps to stay focused and have someone to tell about how great i am doing.
This time is much easier to stay raw because i had some experiences before and know what to avoid, but still it is a challenge! Temptations came again when smelling and looking at sad food - but that was brief and passed. I feel lighter but weight is stubborn. I had only few almonds yesterday and lots of green soup. Today I plan same thing - more soup less nuts and sweet fruits. Wishing you all happy and raw day!

Hi dear lovely raw ones!
Another grey and wet stereotypically english day here, but inside me it's all :D and rainbow-cheshire-cat-ish, hee hee!
I started to quietly inform my friends (family - already done ;) ) via email about my new raw "strangness", in a by-the-way-ish manner :D
Just to avoid stupid situations when I visit home (I have to/love to see all of them during my stay! So looking forward to it...), you know, having to refuse cookies and other stuff they made with all their love. Just want to prepare them a bit.
Another thing: Is actually anybody here trying to (or even better: managed to) gain weight with raw food? It seems that most people start raw food mainly to loose weight.
I've always been rather skinny, and always hated it. I mean, I'm at a point where I kind of accept that I'll never have a sexy "supermodel figure" etc, but I'd do anything to gain a few pounds at least. And NO. Loads of chocolate and sweets and nut butter spoonwise (raw or non-raw) didn't help. When I want to cut down my fat intake (because of people saying you shouldn't eat too much even if it's" good fat") I loose weight so easily. :( So at the moment I eat nuts and seeds and sprouts very regularly (fortunately I love them so much that I can eat a lot of them :P ) and I also bought raw olives which I love (in contrast to their non-raw counterparts, surprisingly).
So, to cut a long story short: Anybody some positive experience/tipps for effectively gaining weight? Preferably muscle? I would be very grateful!
Love and a rawkin happy day,
Eevie

Such an interesting week. Tons of energy last night and then morning I am feeling sort of useless. So I go from one project to another and dabble. I am making headway.
GS this morning, then some nuts ( tired makes me want to eat and that I will need to stop the nut eating at some point but as Alissa says it's okay in the beginning, no worries!).
Lunch, cabbage salad, grated beets with orange.
Tonite? Salad or marinara zuke.
Happy day all !

hi Guys
Not managed to post for days as i've been suffering from migranes and bad headaches inbetween. I hope its detox but i normally only get 1 or 2 migranes a year and i've had 3 in 3 weeks. i haven't done anything different, still raw in the daytime, mostly fruit, GS's and juice but still eating with family in the evenings so no idea why im getting the migranes.
Glad to hear everyone's doing well.

Today's been good so far; I bought a new pillow yesterday on the way home from work, and it is heaven. I slept like a baby and woke up without my usual neck pain. Guess I was hurting myself in my sleep without even realizing it--oops! Started the day with about a quarter of a gallon of fresh orange juice--yum! But now I'm starving, so I'm switching to my purple smoothie leftovers from yesterday. I've got about 32 ounces of that. This afternoon I might have one of my hazelnut butter, banana, flax crax, and honey snacks. For dinner I'm thinking about zucchini pasta with marinara, since my saladacco finally arrived yesterday. I've got the day off tomorrow, so I'm excited to make a few new things: eggless egg salad and onion bread. I made Alissa's pizza bread once and it came out yuckers, so I'm hoping the onion bread will be tastier. I hate wasting all those ingredients!
One funny note: I was talking to my boss last night at my desk, and he looked over at what has to be my third massive bag of clementines this week and said, "well, you're definitely not at risk for scurvy!" I was cracking up. My boss is awesome, and he's been really fantastic about the raw thing. We've had to travel together to conferences and whatnot, and he's been incredibly supportive and helpful (he even brought me a green smoothie once for breakfast while we were at a conference! The man is a saint.) He's hosting our staff Christmas party this year, and he's already planning raw dishes to prepare; clearly, I'm spoiled. Anyway, I thought his joke was funny, and it made me so appreciate how my body just seems to crave things to keep it healthy. Cold and flu season? It screams "give me clementines and grapefruit and oj!" How cool is that?!

OMG!
I just eliminated half of the bag (=250g) of my expensive precious raw cashews! As dessert! :D
For dinner I had:
thick "soup" (you could also call it VVGS - very viscous green smoothie, hehe) made of: 4 stalks celery, 3 spoons soaked browntop millet flour, 1 spoon almond butter, half a bag spinach, 1 banana, dried parsley, 3 spoons maca.
plus: 2 spirulina-almond bars, 8 dried figs, handful of chufas and about 50g almond butter. Well, and the cashews. :D
Now I'm soooo full. However, I hope it helps at least (I would have been satisfied with a lot less!!).
I'm really trying hard to gain some weight... XD

Hey Eevie, can you tell none of us have ANY advice for gaining weight?! I could imagine if one wanted to gain weight (I feel naughty just typing it!) that an increase of fats and proteins would help.
This is such a crazy month, isn't it? It's like a part-time job doing all the holiday stuff. Anyway, I look forward to checking in with you folks each day.
I was soooo craving a soy mocha today (my still sentimental Starbucks days) so I made mocha almond milk in the VitaMix - it was so good and got me past the moment.
If interested, you take 1 cup of almonds and 3 cups of warm water. Add 3 tbsp of cacao powder (available at Whole Foods now) and several squirts of agave. I must say it was frothy and chocolate-y and very nice. It would make a great drink at a party.
Enjoy the day. Alicia

Oh you guys and your acronyms - I love it!
Today has been funny - they cut my hours at work (was supposed to work to 2, but they had used up their employee allotment and cut me at 12:30), and I was SO annoyed, but then I got a call from a guy I interviewed with for a serving position at a local restaurant (I thought nothing would come of it as he said he would call me last Sunday if he had a need for extra hands). It turns out he can work me into the schedule and begin training me tonight - 5-9 or so (so I lost 1.5 hours, then gained 4 ... I think the universe just might be looking out for me ;) ). So its been good overall - now i gotta dash and go get ready for round 2 of work today.
Keep rawking!

today was really great! lots of energy, feeling good. my favorite thing about raw food whenever i am on the wagon is how easy it is to wake up in the morning and today i got to experience that. nice start to the day :)
i consciously decided to include manna bread in my diet once in a while for this first couple of weeks. if its not ok to mention that here i can edit my post, but i feel fine about eating it right now. it should keep me from straying in other directions, so i think that's all that matters at this point.
-1.5-2 cups of watermelon chunks
-sunseed manna bread with almond butter and raspberries
-2.5 carrots
-a banana
-salad: mixed greens, sprouts, 'salmon pate'
now for a bath.

Hey everyone!
Like Carlsbad I have been truly enjoying the clementines at this time of year! I started off my day with a strawberry, orange, maca, broccoli sprout smoothie. Then I had a simple salad for lunch, a ton of clementines for a snack and more simple salad for dinner. I also ate two small bananas. I have had a lot of energy in my waking hours but I have found that I have needed to sleep 9-10 hours per night instead of my usual 5-6. Must be all of the healing going on.
Keep rawkin' everyone!

Baby arugala leaves, broken up broccoli heads(i'm not a big fan of the stems), chopped almonds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, agave syrup(first time purchased!!, this stuff rules) and lemon juice.
Keep rawking everyone,

Had a fantastic day with my husband who is on this raw journey with me. We dropped the kids off at parents and went x-mas shopping for each other!! That's how we do it now. It was so much fun!! Tomorrow we are off to Orlando, we are taking our kids to Disneyworld for the 1st time. They are 5 and 3 yrs old. It is cold here, like-25 degrees celcius so we are so excited to be able to wear shorts again,if only for a week. I am also excited about going grocery shopping!!! I hope there is a wonderful variety of fresh fruit.... Nic

Great day, So odd that my MO is to head for chocolate at the first sign of heavy duty stress--well that has changed. Heading for a nice piece of fruit and am notorious for packing a ziploc of dates to have on hand as emergency backup.
Don't know why, but relentless craving for spicy. Starting to think about taking it up a notch to habanero level--what gives here? Totally cannot get enough spicy each day--so weird.
Loving the soups and salads lately--even more, have been gravitating toward simpler meals (except the absolute need for the spice lately).
Off the chocolate a.m. beverage and back to GS starting tomorrow--well, speaking only for myself--oh, the great awareness of being raw each and every time you enjoy a GS.
Hope you all are doing fantastic on your raw journey.

I am still up from Thursday, so I guess I'll be first.
One thing I've noticed is that eating raw makes me not even tired until late hours in the morning. I know thats not good, but I am still getting 8 hrs of sleep and exercise. This weekend I will go to bed sooner.
I'll be visiting my mom this weekend and bringing my raw goodies with me, and doing a grocery run on the way there. She probably doesnt even have fresh bananas! Last time I came home there were none, and the time before, they were black!
I havent lost any weight in the past week, but I havent gained either, and I so thought I would, since I just love to eat dates/dried fruit/nuts so much!
I actually think I can tell a difference in my skin already, or at least I just look happier
Have a good day all!

Yea!!! Already a whole week?! Where is the challenge??? :D
Glad to read you're all doing so great!
Mueller,
Thank you so much for your helpful email! Loved it! :) (I couldn't reply due to your settings, that's why I post it here)
The "before-after" pics made my really opimistic that it is possible to gain weight with raw food in a healthy way! It's not that I'm sooo unhappy the way I am, but having tried and given up the "normal unraw way", raw food just raised a little hope again ;) If my body just doesn't want to be "more", I will accept that too and love it anyway (!!! many exclamation marks!!!), I will see.
Interestingly, Zoe wrote in another forum that she lost most of her weight when she was eating the highest quantities and the most fats! That really made me think about my approach of forcing as much fat into my body as possible without feeling like it... Maybe I should try to eat more according to my intuition and focus on chewing very well etc...It's just that internalized fear of dropping weight...
Btw: You don't like the stems of broccoli?! They're the best of the whole thing!! I love the strunk, although you have to peel off the outer stringy skin! Then you can eg. cut the heart into sticks and use them for dipping.
Otherwise, same as for Durian - send them to me! I wish you could buy just broccoli strunks... :D
Oh, and yes! It was 1am my time when you wrote the email. Although, at that time I was busy in the kitchen (too much energy to sleep) making a wonderful non-cranberrie dessert.... I have to post the recipe later on my blog with some pictures ....
OK guys, let's rawk on!! The weekend is getting closer!! Yippieeeh!
Love to all of you, wonderful beings,
Eevie

TGIF everyone!
This first week has been amazing for me, and I hope to have many many more like it. Through raw I've learned to love and respect food again, something that I lost through years of dieting.
I'm also coming to love and respect myself more.
Have a great day!

good morning friends! Today is a BIZZZZZZY one! We are having new friends over this evening. I'm really excited. we ahven't had friends over in 7 years. I'm serious. SEVEN YEARS. (we lived with my mom for the last 7 years so we never had friends over due to no privacy.) So I am so EXCITED!!! We don't know them that well yet, but they have 3 dc about the same ages as our 3 oldest. I am going to make a veggie platter and raw dip and maybe a dessert.
Today's menu is: raw oats for breakfast, tho if I have time I'd rather just eat a POM....lunch will be salad and dinner is still up in the air.
I woke up just craving POMS. ? Hopefully I will be able to meet that need today.

I need to share that last night i made apple pie with chocolate and berry ice creams and it was the simplest and yummiest dessert ive ever made and 100% raw! Wahoo! I was rather proud even though it was so easy. WAY yummier ice cream than anything dairy, and much lighter
Well ive been having some pretty heavy health problems which i think is related to absorbtion, so unfortunately im still bloated up and my hairs still nasty etc, even though im packing in so much good raw stuff. I do hope raw alone will cure this
Im getting married in March and i want to look beautiful...i dont want to be pale and bald. I want the real me back
I know all raw is what my body needs, but its still having a tough time digesting. But as soon as thats gone i know im gona feel SO good. I love raw food. Good work everyone! Although its not really work at all when everythings so yummy and good and energy giving:)

Yeah for week one. Still feeling more peaceful everyday though I am working hard on letting go some work related "events" that are beyond my control . Tonight is a big 1st Anniversary Celebration for my retail business so that should be fun, though things like this tend to stress me out.
I feel better being raw and the treats I am offering though many conventional I am including raw & fruit veggies for me ! I always do for other events and always have leftovers...which is great. If anything non raw is left over I will throw away ASAP.

Good morning All in the Raw!
Yes - it is a great feeling - raw all the time and without major cravings.
No weight loss at all, but i feel lighter and high spirited. I explore forums, learn about new fruits i have never tried before and how food changes people.
It is learning experience as much as fun. Have a good weekend everybody!

Day 7!!!....which I think is around day 10-11 for me.
Seriously, where is the challenge in this? Only when I will meet friends and family in social situations will I face a 'challenge.' For me personally, this raw thing feels like coming home. Like I have found what I have been searching for.
I'm so thankful to have found this forum and everyone here.
Eevie, I'm glad that my email made it over to you. Best of luck on your journey. I wonder why I can't receive emails??!!??
I still have two huge broccoli pieces(what would the word for a large piece of broccoli be?) at my apartment, so I will try your stalk idea later. I might try and whip up some honey mustard sauce, which was recommend to me on this forum(agave syrup, mustard powder, apple cider vinegar) for a dipping sauce.
What about hummus, that would work, do I have to soak and sprouts garbanzo beans?
I just returned from my local health food store with a large green drink. I can see this tasting bad to everyone but my body. My body was craving greens this morning.
I also have my lemon squeezer, lemons and cayenne pepper to make some make shift master cleanse little juice glasses later.
Ok everyone. Rawk on!!
Peace and love to you all,
Mueller

Heya Mueller!
Concerning the email thing:
I think there's an option in "user CP" that askes you "if you want to receive emails" etc. Maybe it's "no" by default.
Thanks for the mustard recipe! Another way to use up my agave. Maybe I substitute the vinegar for lemonjuice? You think that works (Don't have and don't like vinegar too much)? I used to like mustard every once in a while (only the "good" ones in jars, not that "hot-dog-outofatube crap" :p ) and I've got loads of mustard powder...
As for the hummus:
Yes, you can sprout chickpeas (they are very very fast, make sure you eat/use them in an early stage, otherwise they get more and more bitter) and use them just as in the normal cooked version.
For people who don't fancy raw chickpeas too much, I recommend some kind of zucchini/courgette-hummus (I love zucchini as dip-base in general!).
If you don't have raw tahini, just make your own, or throw in some sesame to blend with the rest!
And if you ask me for my humble opinion: Coriander-lemon/lime is one of the best :D
