I just went through my cookbook collection, and boxed up about 1/2 of it to take to the used book store, and may still add to it. I'm keeping only those that I consider to be collector's items, and a handful for one of my sons.

I feel cleaner, somehow...

Thats GREAT! I know how hard it was for me to part with books...BUT it does feel so much better knowing that I don't need them anymore. That I have a better, healther way of live foods now! CONGRATS! Carrassa

I'm keeping my cookbooks for now.. I love browsing thru them and getting fabulous ideas for new RAW recipes!! I find them inspiring somehow!! I may shed one or two... but most I will keep .... (course I don't have an entire library full - i think I have 7 cook books - some of which are 'ethnic' foods... which I would love to tweak to raw!) I'm finding the 'mixes of the spices' and herbs most helpful in re-creating them into their vibrant RAW COUSINS!

I find myself looking thru them and getting all excited thinking -- OMG!!! If I added this and ommited that -- WOW!! that would be a FABULOUS RAW RECIPE!! I have post-its sticking out all over the place!! of 'planned' RAW recipes!! :D

heh-heh-heh... and I must admit - some of the post-its have notes on them that say --- 'ASK SNOW OR MATTYE ABOUT THIS RECIPE!!'.... yes ... it's true!! :D

I gave all my cookbooks away to the local library this past summer. I probably had over 50 cookbooks. I figured...if I ever needed them again to Raw-itize something....at least I don't have tons of wasted space in my house for the occasional look-see.

I wish I could but all my life I have collected cookbooks - I have about 300 very nice one's and like StarFire I use them for inspiration for turning SAD recipes into Raw recipes! I do admit I have an "issue" with collecting food prep books; I'm up to 40 raw books so far. . .:o

However a big thumbs up to you for doing a clean out, it is sooo theraputic.

All the best and well done :p

At one time I had about 300 cookbooks in my collection, loved just looking at the pictures if nothing else! But I've given away most of them, it was hard at first but I loved having the extra room for all the raw uncook books I was buying and my treat to myself in getting rid of the cooking books was to always buy each new uncook book as it comes out on the market. Guess I needed a reward system!
