Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum today. I live in Maine. I am 42, am 60 pounds overweight and have Asthma and Rosacea. I had a large thyroid tumor and most of my thyroid gland removed in April and have been miserable for about a year and a half. I'm hoping that eating a raw food diet might be able to help me get back to a healthy weight and clear up the Rosacea and Asthma.

I recently purchased Alissa's book and dvd and am waiting for the UPS man to deliver them today. It says out for delivery on the UPS site and I'm dying for him to come. I can't wait to get reading.

I am a bit nervous about this new way of eating as I am a picky eater, so I'll be poking around the other areas of the forum to try to learn as much as possible.

Have a great afternoon!

Welcome Soapgirl,
You have come to a wonderful site for knowledge, help and support. You will have a ball reading Alissa's book and watching the DVD's. They were a huge huge help to me and you'll find great insight on recipes, etc here as well.
Enjoy the vacationland of Maine. It's one of my favorite states but I need sunlight in my brain so I am way down south now.
Best of luck!
Oceanee

Hi IAmLoved,

I am in the Lewiston Auburn area. Where are you?

I'm nervous that I won't be able to afford to eat in this healty manner. Produce is so expensive and the nuts etc are even worse. I'm heading into Portland to see what I can come up with.

Thanks!

Hi

We live just outside of Augusta. I have relatives in Lewiston. There is a great health food store in Waterville, called Uncle Dean's. Funny how Augusta is the capital but there is nothing here. I get all my fruits and veggies at Shaw's or Hannafords. My grandmother works at the Shaw's in Lewiston!

If you need anything just ask. Really. Good luck. I hope I get to know you better. It is nice to have another rawfoodie nearby!

so glad you joined us! (if you have issues staying warm up there in all that cold, I greatly suggest drinking soups that are warmed slightly in the dehydrator :) )

Welcome! My sons and I just returned from Maine. We visited my mom in Warren near Rockland. Found an awesome local farm stand which sells wonderful local organic produce. I still miss it.
