You guessed it, here is another one of those "to be 100% or not to be 100%" questions...

i was just wondering, what are some differnces, if any, that you have felt from being 100% raw, as opposed to high raw, >70%...any mind-blowing or even subtle changes in emotions, health, weight, etc, etc.?

i've been mulling over the leap to 100% for some time, but i need a little more convincing inorder to give up my steamed broccoli :)

Gradual and acceptable detox...as opposed to crisis, illness, and irritation. Just my experiences.

The more foods you slip into your body that are dead and lifeless while aspiring to be Raw, the more you realize the benefit of eating 100% food that is alive and kickin'. This is the way I came to the realization when I started out with the gradual climb. 100% feels much better to me. 99% not so good. :p

I totally agree that there is a huge difference in 99% and 100%.

As most of us go through going back and fourth with Raw and SAD you'll notice how A little bit of difference even when your inbetween but once you hit 100% raw for even just 1 week (In my case) I can tell an instant difference in being 99% and 100%

It depends on if you're ready!!! I have found that if I'm 100% I must be ready for emotional detox and everything else. I must be prepared to take a hard look at myself and to become my best self.

If you're on the fence, it's great to have a ton of raw food, especially green smoothies in the mix. THEN, when (and maybe you already are) you're ready to really, truly clean inside and out, and you're okay with the trash that comes out.... THEN go 100%.

I was quite surprised by the emotions that I've gone through, and there were times that I broke and reached for an old emotional crutch. It happens when I'm psychologically not ready for my best OR if I'm not ready for the pain that it takes.

And I'm human.

But, by far and away, being 100% raw has blown me away. It's downright amazing. And it is sooooo not giving anything up. :)

I found the biggest difference was between not being raw and being about 80 per cent raw. After that, every little bit more raw is a bonus and increases the feeling of well-being and zest, but for me, 80 per cent was the moment when I really felt 'YES'.

I have also found that eating organic rather than non-organice makes a huge difference in my energy levels.

I find that for me...it's a matter of what I consume that isn't raw. If I have meat of any kind...I'm a wreck for days!
If it's a cooked veggie...a day...maybe two. If it's say a couple slices of Ezekiel Bread...nothing really. (I wonder if that's because it's sprouted grains. I'm not sure.)

When I'm 100% I feel no bloating, better skin, less moody. Eating anything cooked...I bloat really fast...in the middle and it stays for quite some time. If I continued with it...my skin would break out. We won't even discuss my moods. :p

100% feels best, but that is just me.

I have a sis-in-law who does her best, but the raw foods really make her tummy upset. So she stays around 50%. I keep encouraging her that she is doing what she can and it's way better than most Americans get the chance to do.

I think when you reach the level of raw that works for you, you are there. For some that's 50% for others it's 80%...still others 100%. Whatever your body thrives the most on...is what you should try to reach.

Some of us have just gone long enough 100% to feel the difference it can make...and anything else isn't our best!

day and night.... the difference for me was day and night.

when I went thru my testing inorder to graduate for my hula...
we were required to eat certain foods that had spiritual conotations and reflection for a dancer... some was raw meats, fish, veggies, fruit, however some of it was cooked items... and oh boy oh boy.... did I feel the difference....

emotionally I was way more sensitive for days... I was easily irritated, aggravated and my patience level was non existant...

I had difficulty handling stress of any kind...

and my body was sooo not happy....

and the raw glow... diminished....

vibrant live foods = vibrant live body, mind and emotional well being.

cooked dead foods = foods stuffed with cloggging junk meant to simply fill up the stomach cavity. then starvation ensues b/c your body is NOT getting the nutrients -- so you want mooore food... clogging you up even more... How can any glow shine out thru all that clogged dead mass of crap...??? yew... ...

it just depends on how badly you want the glow... how badly you want your health ... how important is it to you to have a clear quick mind... 50% - 75% ?? or... 100% ;)

I find a huge difference in how I feel and also in my outlook on life. I am much more positive and happy on 100% vs 99%.

Another odd thing - my husband says my "wrinkles" show up when I eat cooked food!!! What wrinkles??????????????????? ahem. I have also noticed that if I am 100% for a few days then eat a cooked meal, all the puffiness comes back up under my eyes! wow!!!!

one more thing - eating cooked foods causes me to binge eat. I don't crave cooked foods so much as I just flat binge on whatever I can get my hands on!!

Thank you for posting this question. I was going to post something similar to this today. I was just wondering if there are any biological reasons why there is such a big difference between say 99% and 100%...it seems to me that if the 1% isn't total crap that the difference should not be that great. But the difference IS great- for me personally. I always eat high raw, but when I eat 100% the difference is very dramatic. I know Alissa talks about how just leaving the door open a crack can cause us to slowly retreat backwards, but why would a few bites of steamed veggies take away from our vibrancy physically?

For me a roughly 80/20% compromise is best - maybe 3-4 cooked meals a week, when out with friends. The social aspect and the general pleasure I get from eating out is worth keeping in my life - I usually feel weighed down that evening but basically fine the next day.

but why would a few bites of steamed veggies take away from our vibrancy physically?

picture a crystal clear pitcher of beautiful water....

in the center is a glowing orb... you can clearly see the orb glowing thru the water and out of the crystal clear pitcher...

now -- take a drop of muddy water -- add just a few drops in the pitcher - and yes - you can still see the orb - and it still looks pretty bright - but in truth -- it is not as clear as it once was - it can't be cuz the mud you added taints the water - even slightly....

or -- another another analogy would be if you put a thin layer on the outside of the crystal pitcher -- maybe some water with the tiniest bit of mud -- you will still be able to see the orb glowing... but not as brightly...

we're the same way -- our spirits are glowing brightly - our vessels (our earth suit we call this body) is cleansed of impurities... fed nourished with vibrant foods... WE can SHINE out - without any hindrance. HOWEVER -- any addition of any measure of food that has no nourishment or diminished nourishment -- ever so slightly will dim our glow...

simple example -- but it gets the point across...

I'm normally always at the very least 80-90% raw, and what I eat cooked is always unhealthy like grains, potatoes, etc. (I would never cook healthy food like fruits and vegetables, I see that as being as dumb as burning money, well, it is).

Because of the above, I normally get wick when I eat my 10% cooked (by sick I mean runny or congested nose, that's about the sickest I ever get).

I'd really like to go 100% raw (I normally am close to that in the summer as I can't stand cooked food when it's hot out), but I'm finding it sort of hard, what I hate about raw food is I can't get anything pre made and have to make every single meal myself, they day a raw restaurant opens nearby that also does delivery/take out, I'm going 100% raw. Or even if grocery stores started selling pre made raw meals, I'd probably go 100% raw.

I notice a major difference between 99% raw and 100% raw.

First of all, for those of us with addictive personalities, 100% raw is much easier to sustain than 99%, after the first day or two - in my experience.

For me, the most significant difference is that when I eat 100% raw I feel like I am living on a higher plane of existence. Greater synchronicity, manifestations come quickly, etc. I think that is the higher frequency of the raw foods plus just feeling better;)

Victoria Boutenko, in her 12 Step book, has a little chart about the amazing differences in assimilation of nutrients that occur based on the percentage of raw you eat. The differnce between 95% and 100%, according to her, is huge!

for me... 99% raw is a slippery slope to 20% raw.

"oh it's okay, just this one meal..."

so for me, my body, my mind, my life... it's 100% or nothing!

so i choose 100%

I remember reading that in her book too...I don't own a copy...does she cite where she got that information? I would love to read more about that.

personally 99-100% both "work" for me... but 80% didn't work AT ALL... (tried that back in January '07... we ended up eating all meals raw at home, and only eating out cooked foods.... but it ended up being eating out a LOT).

Just being raw, and on special occasions (just anniversary and birthdays) eating cooked works right now. In january DH and I are going 100%, so I'll let you know if we feel major differences.
